Our Birthday Celebrations

Kel & my birthday is 1 week apart, thus we would usually celebrate it together. This year, we decided to go to the Plaza Market Cafe for a buffet dinner. You may ask why we choose Plaza Market Cafe of all places? Coz I have this 1 for 1 dining voucher from Singapore Women's Weekly. That's a 50% discount, which is too good to pass...

We brought Daryl along as children below the age of 2 is FOC. He enjoyed himself a lot during dinner as he got to see his favourite buses. We had purposely chose a table whereby he can see the main road so that he can be distracted should he decide to fuss. In addition, as it was a special day, we decide to indulge him, thus, he got an unlimited supply of keropok.

After dinner, we went shopping at Raffles City, then it was home sweet home... What a nice way to spend our birthdays.

Ball Ball Kick Kick...

Daryl surprised me just now when we were watching the 6.30pm news.

It was towards the end of the news segment when they were showing the football segment. When Daryl saw the football players kicking the football, the notti boy standing beside me, started to say the words, "Ball, Ball, Kick, Kick" The best thing is, he even do the action of kicking a ball!! When I saw that, I laughed & gave him a very big kiss.

18 months Jab

We brought Daryl to the Marine Polyclinic for his DPT/DT 1st booster jab today. It's the last of the jabs which he is supposed to take for his immunisation.

When we reached the immunisation room, I think Daryl recognises it coz he turned & tried to pull me away. Kel & I were amazed as the last time we came was 3 months back. This shows that kids do have an elephant memory. Luckily, we managed to distract him so that he's willing to wait in the waiting area.

In the immunisation room, when the nurse jabbed the needle into Daryl's left thigh, he was watching it. The funny thing is, he didn't cry straight away when the needle went into his thigh. He looked up to see the nurse, then he screwed up his face & cried. His delayed reaction was so funny that we both laughed. Luckily his crying subside after a while. I was told to monitor him for signs of fever as he got a slight fever after his last jab.

After his jab, we had to wait for a doctor as Daryl is also due for his Development Assessment. During the assessment, Daryl's height & weight was taken. He's now 89cm & 13.5kg which puts him in the 97 percentile. When his assessment was done, we went home so that Daryl can get some rest.

Looking at Daryl, I am amazed at how time flies. It seems only like yesterday when I was pregnant with him. Now he's already 18 months old. It really warms my heart when I see him growing day by day.

Kiss Kiss Kiss

Daryl is 18 months old today!! Instead of us giving him a gift, he gave me a belated birthday present - 3 kisses!! I am in heaven now...

I was carrying Daryl while doing his favourite activity - watching buses & cars at our balcony in the afternoon. Kel came to join us later. So the 3 of us are standing at the balcony enjoying this brief family time together. Suddenly, Daryl decided to rub his forehead on my chin. Don't asked me why he did that coz I have no idea also. After rubbing his forehead, he cupped my face in his hands & gave me 1 kiss on the right side near my mouth, 1 kiss on the left side & another 1 on the right side again. Kel was so jealous when he saw that. Hehehe...

Jiak...

Daryl knows how to say the word "Jiak" which means peekaboo in English. I discovered it during his evening bath time today.

He was being a notti boy as usual coz he didn't want to go into our room to prepare for his evening bath. Thus I told Asty to prepare his bath 1st while I carried him into our room. I decided to make it fun for him by getting Asty to play peekaboo with him. Asty hid in our room 1st. When we reached, Asty jumped out & said "Jiak". Daryl laughed heartily. I put him down on the floor & told him to find Kaka. He then walked into our room to look for Asty. As Asty was hiding in the bathroom, Daryl couldn't find her. Do you know what he did next? He ran & hid in the space between his cot & the bedroom wall. When Asty went looking for him, she called, "Daryl, where are you? I cannot see you..." The cheeky boy actually jumped out of his hiding place & went, "Jiak" with a big smile on his face.

When we saw that, the both of us cracked up. Later, I found out from Asty that it was the 1st time that he actually said the word! I was so happy to witness it.

Shoes Wearing

I was watching my Princess Hours DVD in the afternoon when I spied my notti boy doing this...



When he couldn't wear his Pooh sandals, he gave up & went to take out his other shoes.

He was trying to wear his Puma shoes in this vid. However, he still didn't succeed, so he decided to give up & keep his shoes.



I thought that it was the end of his shoes wearing episode, but I was wrong. A few minutes later, I saw this...

Apple

Daryl knows what is an apple!! He demonstrated it to me just now after dinner.

Daryl, me & Asty were in the kitchen. I was looking for food to eat for my dinner while Daryl was walking around the kitchen. I saw some apples which Asty had put in a basket. Thus I asked Daryl, "Darling, do you want to eat an apple?"

His reply was, he went to the basket, took out an apple & gave it to me. He even stood on tip toes to make sure that he can reached my hands. When Asty & I saw that, we laughed. I then gave Asty the apple so that she can peeled & cut it.

Daryl was so happy munching on the apple afterwards.

Notti boy

Daryl knows that he is a notti boy sometimes. He 'told' me so just now at dinner time.

He was sitting at his high chair having his dinner. Halfway through his dinner, he decided to fuss. I told him off in a very stern voice. Then I asked him, "Who is the notti boy?" His answer, he used his left index finger & pointed to himself with a cheeky grin on his face. Asty & I cracked up when we saw that.

2nd Day of Chinese New Year

According to Chinese tradition, married daughters are supposed to go back to their parents' place on the 2nd day of CNY to bai nian. Thus, we went back to my mum's place today.

When Daryl woke up, I asked Asty to shower & changed him into his new clothes. Today he wore his Gymboree blue t-shirt & Levi's blue jeans. While I was taking my shower, Daryl decided to be Kel's model in his new clothes.

When we were done with our preparations, we went to my mum's place to bai nian & have lunch there.

After lunch, we went to my Gu Po's place with my mum & sisters. While we were there, Daryl was so tired that he fell asleep in my lap. Gu Po & Gu Jie said that he looks so sweet when he's sleeping. I replied that they haven't seen him when he's being notti. :p

My grandma's place is our next destination. Seeing my grandma makes me kinda of sad. Daryl is her great grandchild. It's a pity that she doesn't know that as she's suffering from dementia. She had been suffering from it even before Kel & I got married. If she knows, I am sure that she'll be very happy to know that she's a great grandma already.

We left my grandma's place at about 5.30pm. We sent my mum & Kat back home while Pris went out with her boyfriend. We then went to Jason's place for dinner.

At about 9pm, Daryl, me & Asty went back home while Kel stayed back to gamble.

When we reached home, I told Asty to give Daryl his bath. He was so tired that he fell asleep soon after his bath.

Chinese New Year

Today is the 1st day of CNY, the 2nd time that Daryl will be celebrating with us. This year, it's kinda of different coz Daryl can participate more actively, i.e. he knows how to take ang paos already. :p

Daryl & I woke up at about 8.30am this morning. As the lazy boy had a habit of lazing on the bed for a few minutes before he 'got' up, I decided to take some pics of him.

Kel came into the room then to see whether Daryl had woken up. When Daryl saw him, he got up immediately & walked towards Kel. The 2 of them spent some 'quality' time rolling about on our bed.

When they were done, I changed Daryl & went to brush his teeth. After washing up, we went out to the hall to wish Kel's father "Gong Hei Fatt Choy". Then it was our turn to give our ang paos to Daryl.

Daryl is wearing his new Gymboree Yellow Top & the Country Road pants which Pat had brought over from Australia last year when she came back to Singapore. The pants was supposed to be a set with a matching Country Road T-shirt, however Daryl had already outgrown it. What a pity...

After Kel & I had showered & changed, we decided to take some pics for remembrance before we went out to bai nian.

After the 'photo taking', we went to Kel's Gu Ma's place to bai nian. This is the 2nd year which we went to Gu Ma's place to bai nian. We only started going to there when Kel's father came to stay with us.

Gu Ma stays with her son, daughter-in-law, their 2 kids & 2 dogs. Daryl was so happy when he saw the dogs that he kept saying 'dog dog'. He had a great time playing with the dogs too.

After Gu Ma's place, we went to Chris's place to pick up Kel's mum. We wanted to bring her to our place so that she can play mahjong with us. I think that she had an enjoyable time playing with us even though she had lost money. She left at about 10.30pm as she had to rush back to Chris's place to pray.

I think Daryl also enjoyed his 2nd CNY very much. After Kel's mum left, I carried him into our room & put him onto our bed. He was so tired that he fell asleep almost immediately.

Reunion Dinner

Chinese New Year Eve is traditionally the day for us to have our reunion dinner. This year, we had it at Marcus's place as usual. However, this year's reunion dinner is kinda of disastrous

I think the only ones who enjoyed the reunion dinner are the kids as evidenced by the pics.



























































































































I think Daryl enjoyed himself a lot too. He was the centre of attention as usual coz he is the youngest grandchild. Thus everyone is clamouring for his attention. :p

CNY Shopping

Kel & I went shopping today as we really need to do our CNY clothes shopping. We had been so busy recently that we only managed to find time today to complete it. Well, we can't complain coz in our line of work, being busy is good!!

We decided to visit my regular boutique - BloomingChic to get my clothes 1st. I managed to get 5 tops & 2 pairs of pants which should be enough to last me for another year. I don't really like shopping coz it's quite difficult to get nice clothes in my size. Thus I only shopped like once a year to replenish my clothes.

After that, we went to Tangs for lunch & to check my shoes & handbags & Kel's clothes. We had our lunch at the Island Cafe. While we were waiting for our food to be served, Daryl 'protested' about the wait. In order to keep him quiet, I gave him a straw to entertain himself.

I also managed to take a vid of Daryl while he was playing with the straw.



After our satisfying lunch, we went shopping... We managed to get an Elmo water bottle & mini backpack for Daryl. We need to upgrade his water bottle as the current one is too small for him already. We had to top up his water bottle very often as he is drinking more water these days. There were times when we were not able to top up his water, thus poor Daryl got none to drink. As for the mini backpack, it was just the right size for Daryl to carry it & to put his biscuits, diaper, wet wipes & hanky in it.

For me, I managed to get a Renoma hangbag at 20% discount which is quite a good buy. The bag can be used for both work & play, thus I feel that it's a good buy. As for shoes, I didn't find any which I like, so I decided not to get any new ones. Think I will make do with whatever I have currently.

Kel didn't managed to find any clothes which he likes coz he finds that the clothes at Tangs are either too formal or too 'young'. He is one fussy guy... Therefore, we left Tangs & went to Robinsons.

At Robinsons, he managed to get a pair of beige chinos to complete his CNY wardrobe. That concludes our CNY shopping & we left for home.
