Events and experiences in NPCC
Four and a half months have passed since the start of 2007. TIMES FLIES!!!!!! PUI.Within this four and a half months in this year, we have participated in many competitions, majority being sports (that's how it should be!). Of these, the first and foremost is the Inter-unit Badminton competition organised by NHSS.
It was quite an experience for our players though. I would say that they're quite unlucky for having a draw with Chai Chee players in the first round. Of course credit goes to Chai Chee for winning the opening round. However, owing to the "25 min" rule, both teams were kicked out. Something was definately smelly here. In their rules and regulation booklet, it was clearly mentioned that when the "25 min" limit was reached, the leading team will proceed on to the second round.
Finally someone uncovered the truth behind that confusing mystery. On the elimination table, the first pair of opponents will meet no one (no place to proceed due to odd number of competitors in the second round). In the end the organisers had to use create this lose-lose situation to proceed with the event.
Poor planning. They could've just put a bye for the two slots for the opening round and it would solve the problem of having an odd number of pairs in the second round.
Oh well, I guess the day ended like this more or less. Pay some money to get experience.
On our way back, someone discouraged us to be sad because of our loss due to our opponents' second cca is BADMINTON.
WTH.
So the cause of our loss is because our opponent is badminton players?
NO.
It's because our players are NOT STRONG ENOUGH.
THAT is then the cause of our loss.
Why blame other people for our loss? It's not as if they cheated or did anything under the table. Moreover they were also furious when they came to learn that they were also disqualified because of the rule that twisted how things were.
We must learn look at ourselves and find out what caused our loss. The answer is simply- we are not strong enough.
It's not a bad loss though. We get to know our opponents this round. If there's more to come, we will understand them better.
If we are not strong enough, we just need to train more and more. Participate more in competitions and gain invaluable experiences. That is how one will grow.

Long post.. now... next event!!
HYSS basketball competition! Initated to participate by Zi Jian (yey!)
Quite shiok, this competition was. The cadets got fifth out of... can't remember how many long list of schools. Great job!
Although no loss is encouraging, I felt they really did a good job. At times they really will take advantage of their team mate's height to score and help the team win(wahahah). No one can argue it's unfair- it's not against the rule, and there's no foul play. People think of rules, and more people will think of ways to beat the rules. That's how winners play.
Really surprised that a whole bunch of sec 3s came down to support the players.. wOOHoo.. some even brought fish to come and support.. lol? =P
The more thinking game was the officers game. Stragised here and there.. not in terms of how we would win, but in terms of how we will get into the finals by guessing other players wins and loss. More of prophecy instead. And the Prophecy was true. Although I very much like to take back what I made of the prophecy in the last sentence, it was too late.. and we really got second.. man.. lol

BPGHS Interunit fitness competition
Wasn't there myself, though heard that there were a lot of unpredictable people..
In the end we didn't do very well.. i think is.. 11th position.. sounds pretty decent? 11th out of 13th position. Now that's decent? heehee.
NVm,, we just gotta train more..

KSS NPCC Interlevel badminton competition
REally surprised at how the cadets bonded.. although I heard many bad stories about it..
It was fun during the cadets' round.. but things really did start to get messy during the special vs VIP round..
The cadets were doing their own things.. getting restless, amusing themselves with games..
Partly it was because we didn't plan that part properly, secondly is because we didn't expected only TWO vips to play out of the 11 invited.. lol
Thirdly, the NCOs were busy with their games and umpiring.. and thus we didn't have enough manpower to settle them.
ONly did it reached the finals, the MCee announced that the winning team will be playing against the cadets winning team, the cadets sat down and watched the game. If not I don't think the cadets will know that's a final! lOl
During the finals (VIP vs Special team & VIP vs cadets' team), much was unexpected. Both from our opponents and from ourselves. The VIPs made a number of unforced errors, which brought the game into duce in the second set in favour of the VIPs.
It was unlike the first set, where the VIPs had a total control of the game and the special team had little chance to fight back.
The second set saw a number of unforced errors made by the VIP team which created a suspense mode for both teams.
It was encouraging to hear the cadets cheer for the special team whenever they scored a point.
Finally the game ended 11-6, 17-15 in favour of the VIPs.
Then came the round where the winning VIP/Special team will go against the winning cadet's team.
Saw a number of one sided points.. until the point where the players from cadets team were "fed up" with one another.
This saw a subsitution of a player in the cadet's pair. Again in the second set, the VIP made numerous unforced errors, giving away precious points to the other side.
But held on, they had. Resulting in the match going in VIP team's way.
During prize giving, saw happy and sad moments.. smiles and frowns.. but all are part of competition. Joy comes when winning, sorrow engulfs you when you lose.
To be second is to be last.
After the event, played another round with Rizwan.. and me and nooooooob finally called it a day after that..
When leaving for lunch.. it started to pour..
so by the time we reached lot 1 mcdonals, it was 4pm.. and drenched in rain..
ordered Mcpork and at last went home.. dead tired.
============================
Congrats to all winners of various competition.
To all those who didn't make it to the champion- Count ourselves lucky if we have the chance again to compete. We'll train harder and longer together and haunt the one who defeated us the next time we lock.
