I Dare You

So what do you do when you are out of town and you have left your nursing baby at home?  You pump a lot of the precious milk and dump it down the sink...or you dare your dare loving nephew to chug a few ounces.

Contemplating
Asking, "Will it taste like boob?"

Then brave little brother comes along, and with out hesitation...

Sucks it dry.

Sick and wrong, but it made for some good laughs.

Snowboarding

So this year I decided to invest in a decent snowboard. My husband does it, my kids probably will, so I might as well be proficient...I can't have my kids think I'm not cool. Plus, why not try to impress the huz. I learned about 10 years ago, but it's been about 10 years since I've done it. I was surprised. Kind of like riding a bike...

For the record, skiing is still way cooler and a lot more fun.

5k We did it!

On March 14th Ben and I ran in the Rex Lee 5K. Running around campus was a little nostalgic and made the run fun and easy. I don't think I have been on campus since graduation. This is going to sound silly to you all, but my goal was to finish it in 35 min. ( I had done all of my prior training on a treadmill with no incline and the fastest I had done it was about 33min, so I thought 35 min on a real road with some hills was a logical goal.) But I exceed all my expectations. I finished in 26:something. Almost 9 minutes faster than I thought I could. It was a 8:33 pace, which I know I have never even come close to on a treadmill. So I was very pleased with myself. It felt so good to set a goal and accomplish it.

Ben took off at the start, but didn't kick my butt too bad. He finished just a minute ahead of me. Ben's 39 year old sister beat both of us. She was nice enough to run a little way with me, but she was ready to drop me.

All and all it was a great experience and I am excited for the next one on April 4th. If I can get over my cold I am doing it. Anyone want to join?

J's got Skillz!

As you may or may not know 50's are now illegeal for sale from dealers because the lead content is too high for a child's toy. I don't know about you, but I have personally never seen a child sucking on a motorcycle. Lame lame lame. So we have been in a panic because we have been telling Jesse since he was two that got to get a motorcycle when he turns 5. But the other day we found one on KSL that was in good condition so we decided to get one now before they are harder to get. We considered on waiting till his birthday, but we decided to let him enjoy it over the summer. Little did we know what a stud he would be. Here he is day after we got it, riding on his own.

Heli Video

Fun Indeed!

The only bad news is, as I was taking out my camera to take a picture of us before we even left the helipad, the battery died.  Yes, so no great pics of the best ski day of my life:(  But we did manage to snap a few on our phones, and we did bring our new Flip videocamera.  So as soon as a little editing work gets done I will post a video.

Blue bird day, feet of untracked snow + 7 runs and about 15,000 vertical feet=unmeasurable fun.  I have always wanted to go Heli skiing and this met all my expectations.  The day and conditions couldn't have been better.  Great terrain, great snow, and of course the best company.  The best Christmas present ever.  I didn't realize how fun it would be just to fly in the helicopter.  The views were amazing and so where the pilots' skills-most of the ridges we landed on were about 6ft wide!   It felt like we were in Alaska, not the Wasatch.  If you  are a skier it is a definite must!  Well worth the cost, and an experience I will always remember.  The two other guys that were in our group have done other heli-tours all over the world and they say that this was the best terrain by far.  That all the other places didn't have the quality of snow or any steepness.  Who knew?  Right in our own back yard.

There were 8 people in our group plus two guides.  The pilot would land, we'd jump out, unload the gear and hold it down while the pilot took off, and then we would put our skis on and push off into unbelievable terrain.  We would regroup after each pitch and then at the bottom the Helicopter would come pick us up again and take us up to another ridge.  Truly spectacular.  We live in such an amazingly beautiful place

Waiting for the Helicopter

This is only half way down.

Trying to get a shot of the two of us.

The other half of our group taking off in the background

Check back soon to see the video...

Helicopter Skiing

Tomorrow we are headed out to do a little bit of this for the weekend. This has been a life long dream and Ben granted it for Christmas. Pray for snow tonight and sunshine tomorrow!
