Would You Believe Me If I Told You..
..that for the past four-ish months or so, i completely forgot that this blog existed? HAHA!! didn't think you would, but yeah, it's for real.. thanks to a certain someone that asked me why i haven't blogged, it caused my mind to connect with the abyss of its memories and discover that i actually blogged once! and here we are! a post! wahey!
at this moment, it's 9:18pm, it's Christmas evening, i'm past two glasses of vodka and 7up, and i feel as if the house is revolving so much that it refuses to let me walk in a straight line to convince my family members that i am not under the influence; i'm prohibited from pouring myself a third unless i could cross my living room in a straight line, and have hence failed, so yeah. but hell, it's been so long.. been so long since i've posted a blog, been so long since my blood has traces of alcohol in it.. hell, look at my last post! that was BEFORE EURO'08!! thank goodness Spain ended up champions after that..
6 months without a blog. damn. i couldn't talk about my car accident in June, my job-quit and my World Youth Day experiences in July, my job-hunt in August, my first month as an HSBC banker in September, my 6-week relationship in October-November, and the newest addition to our church's collection of priests in December! shite, time has passed.. i even remember what i was having for lunch as i wrote that blog!
...
or do i?
shit..
EXPECT TO HEAR MORE FROM ME IN THE YEAR TWO THOUSAND AND NINE!! SUCH IS MY NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION AS SET BY ONE MAGDALENE CHONG WING SAU!!
and then approved by yours truly, of course.
ta-ta for now! and if you'll excuse me, i have a straight line to walk..

EURO 2008!
with the tournament only less than a week away, one cannot help but be excited about it. i guess the credit goes to the difference between club football and games at an international level.. it is so very funny and ironic to see Rooney, Gerrard and Terry in one team, after all.
speaking of which, it's quite a pity England won't be able to strut their stuff this time round..
anyways, here's to a successful EURO 2008 campaign to Spain!! Viva Las Furias Rojas!

remember the equation: Villa + Torres + Fabregas + Silva = finalist success.

Not bad for my first (half-)season as a Red..
not bad at all. Manchester United have done the double, as they so confidently promised. it's no 1999, but we have more trophies than 19 of the other Premiership clubs, i.e. all of them. kudos to Pompey for wrenching any possibility of a treble away from us.

what i really enjoy about supporting this club is observing the fans of the other three of the big four: Liverpool fans are cocky, Arsenal fans are arrogant and Chelsea fans are overconfident. Man United fans? well, since a biased opinion is definitely expected, i'll just hush up on that one, the same way i hush up every time a Liverpool fan tells me Man United will be crushed beneath their wake, only to smirk at them the next day after a 3-0 thrashing on our behalf, or when a Chelsea fan tells me United sucks and that Chelsea will be bringing the trophy back with them to London, and most of us know how that one turned out..
note: my observations are based on the people around me. maybe a nice Liverpool fan actually exists. who knows?
i watched the Champs League final with one of my closest friends who came back to Brunei from the Phils for a little holiday. the venue was my telly in the comfort of my home (i've only ever watched a United match away from home once; the Liverpool match that caught my eye and then my heart) and i gave him a lift to my house straight after work on Wednesday.
kick-off was the next day, 2:45am for us, so until then, we just bummed around with whatever my abode could offer: FIFA on the ps2, and there's always a connected computer lying about. i had a little power nap at around 11pm, then resumed the nerve-tickling countdown.
overall, it was a stellar match to watch. how close a call it was for the winners is indescribable. it was the best feeling when van der Sar blocked Anelka's penalty attempt, so great a feeling that i ripped the locks off my front door and ran laps around the outside of my house screaming to the skies. a great feeling.
oh, my mate followed and made similar loud noises as well. unfortunately, my dog thought he was chasing and attacking me, so we walked back inside to find him with a couple of holes in his leg.. oops. oh well, at least he'll remember the day he celebrated Man United's 3rd European Winning, he said.
congratulations on reeling in two major trophies this season, Manchester United! here's to more trophy success in seasons to come.
