Updates at 17.5 months old

I just cannot believe how the time flies. My super preemie is almost 18 months old! Crazy!

Nina loves her babies, pushing baby strollers, and carrying shoes while walking. I know it's odd, but she likes to hold something while walking and it's usually a shoe. She loves being chased. She loves peek-a-boo and reading books-she is very particular about the books she wants to look through and will push one away till you get it right. We are outside a lot and she has discovered ants and tries to pick them up. She likes to walk on the sidewalk of our street and Miss Independent does not want her hand held. So we have to herd her like a sheep.

Nina's favorite foods these days are hot dogs, mac and cheese, Chick-fil-la nuggets. blueberries, tomatoes, cheese slices, yogurt... She eats fish and anything else we put down in front of her but those are some of the summer favs. She does get that annoying picky eater thing, where she will love carrots and grilled cheese sandwich on a Monday and hate it on a Thursday. She only drinks milk or water. She does not like juice...(I only tried apple so this could be a false statement) But I can't complain she is a great little eater.

Nina is still on the small side height wise...I think she is at or a little over 28 inches which is tiny for her age. Her weight is on target! So hopefully she will catch a growth wave and be on her way.

Miss Nina is beginning to get a little temper on her. When I take something away from her that she is loving, like a shoe that I need to put on her foot, she will plop herself on the floor, lie down, and whine/cry. She does not like it when I take her out of a fun activity to change her stinky diaper. She goes all stiff or limp depending on the day and resists. I always win. (Nina, I will always win.)

We still go to Music class weekly and she has recently moved up to the older toddler class (kids 16 to 24 months)and is doing great.

Her vocab is taking off. She repeats words we say. Even if just part of it comes out, she is learning. Hmmm. let me see...she can say: duck, tickle, chicken, momma, daddy, Abby, cracker, airplane, ball, baby, dog, bubble...there are many more but I cannot think... she says her name and it comes out as NaNa!

Maine Trip!!!

We had the most fantastic trip to Maine! Nina did really well in the 9 hour ride up.

The first night there we had lobster! YUM! We went to the beach and park. Jason and I got to go on a double date with Vin and Heather one night which was awesome! Nina loved playing with her cousins. They were really great about sharing their stuff with her. Looking ahead to December when we see them again!

Nina began dancing a few days before the trip (to Teletubbies music) but when she was around her cousins, she really got down and boogied. I included a 6 second piece. She even makes a serious dancer face. This kid cracks us up!

First Haircut!

We had Nina's hair cut this afternoon! She did great...despite what the photos say. We took her to this place called Sweet and Sassy! The woman who cut Nina's hair was super nice. Nina now has bangs(which I LOVE) and the baby mullet is gone so it can now grow into a nice bob. Nina looks so sweet! I am glad we went!

Good news!

Nina had her monthly PT appointment this morning and her teacher was amazed with her progress in one month. Nina is age appropriate for gross motor skills! She told me Nina is a miracle in what she can do and is so happy to have known her. Yeah Nina!

Happenings

So I think it's day 13 or 14 of this stuff... It is lessening up to about 3x a day so we are making progress. Nonetheless I am most likely calling on Monday if there is not stoppage.

Anyway....

I love this age. Nina is so full of life and is into everything!
She seems to be our little soccer player. She has been kicking her green ball all over the place since we got it a couple weeks ago.

She loves watching me tend to the garden. She carries around a tomato in the yard and is so pleased with herself!

She is into the Telletubbies. She calls them Tellys. And when they are off the screen I ask her where they are and she puts up her hands as to ask where are they? So cute! We also watch Yo Gabba Gabba. (I think I like it more than she)

In other news, I am obsessed with Etsy.com. So far I bought barrettes for Nina and a necklace for me! Check it out! So great! I love it!

Not so fun around here.

So today is (I think) day 12 of Nina Diarrhea Days.
It is not getting any better and she has (so far) lost 1/2 pound which is a lot on 22 pounds.

I called Dr b/c she is going approx 5-8 times a day and she hurts. Her little bottom hurts. Dr said wait a few more days and it not cleared up by next week to call.

AND to top it off her eczema is worse this week. AUGH! It's on her left eye and around her left side of the mouth. The cortizone works when she has an outbreak.

She is truckin through this though. She even found time to dance!

Here she is: Nina Nina Diarrhea as Nina Nina Ballerina!

Amazing August Day

We had such a blast yesterday! Started the day off with Sheryl and Erin at Animal Kingdom Zoo .
This place was so neat! You could go right on in and feed the animals. Seriously, they actually had tubes that you could put food(popcorn, animal cracker, fruit loop etc mix) down for the monkeys. They had tons of monkeys, hyenas, giraffes, and camels..even a baby camel! The baby camel was my favorite, couldn't feed her b/c she was still on liquids. She made the most awful loud moan which scared Nina but we were not leaving without a picture!
It was odd to see such a cool zoo in Bordentown NJ. Check it out if you are in the area!

Later on in the day we went to Peddlers Village.
We let Nina loose in the courtyard and she loved it. We then treated her to dinner at one of the pubs there. She inhaled her chicken fingers and fries and was a very good little girl! After dinner we had her walk it off. She's been eating large amounts of food for the past 2 weeks. It's great!
