Greetings, Earthling!

Hi everyone! It's Monday again; already? Here are two cards I made over the weekend. The first one is for Kristina's Finally Friday challenge (create a circle card or a holiday card). The second one was for the circle card (& color) challenge for Embellish Magazine. My computer acted up on me when I was trying to upload the card for the challenge, so I didn't make the deadline. Sigh! I hate computers sometimes.

A few months ago, I ordered the Greetings, Earthlings set from Stampin' Up. This is the first time I've used the stamps.

Since I don't have Copic markers, my coloring "tool" of choice on these cards was to use paper pieceing for images such as this cute alien. Both cards are 4.25" in diameter. I used a toothpick as the banner holder on the first card. I like how it looks.

Thanks for stopping by!

Card Ingredients
Stamps: Greetings, Earthling (SU!)
Paper: Pacific Point - textured, Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky, Crushed Curry, Whisper White, Green Tea designer paper, Good Morning Sunshine designer paper (All SU!)
Ink: VersaMark, Chesnut Roan chalk ink (ColorBox)
Tools: circle cutter (Martha Stewart), Big Shot w/circles embossing folder, square punch (to cut edge of banner), oval cutter (Coluzzle)
Other: foam tape, Stickles, butter (Making Memories)

Happy Birthday - AVS11

Of the 12 cards I uploaded to Splitcoaststampers, this card has gotten more hits and comments than the other 11 cards. This card was for sketch #11 of the Anni-VERVE-sary. I love the Birthday Whimsy set, and I haven't used it enough.

I stamped the birthday cake on 3 different papers: white, certainly celery, and Spring Silhouettes DSP. Using my Stamp-a-ma-jig, I restamped the cake on the DSP using VersaMark ink. I embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I rubbed the Close to Cocoa pad on top of the stamped image. I used paper towel to remove the excess ink. I paper pieced all the image on the white cardstock. On the flames of the candles, I added gold gel pen and Stickles.

Card Ingredients
Stamps: Birthday Whimsy
Paper: Wild Wasabi, Spring Silhouettes DSP, Certainly Celery, Very Vanilla
Ink: Close to Cocoa, VersaMark
Other: foam tape, Gold Sakura gel pen, Clear embossing powder, Stickles, River Rock ribbon, 1" circle punch

Got Cake?

I made this fun card for Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #19. One of the stamp sets Ericka gave me the other day is Inkadinkado's Humorous Birthday. When I saw the Got Cake? stamp, I knew I had to use it for Taylor's challenge.

Earlier this year, Ericka also gave me some Basic Grey designer paper. I used it on this card. I did some paper piecing with the designer paper for the dog. I also did some paper piercing on this card with tools Ericka brought me from Peru a few years ago. After reading this
item on Melanie Muenchinger's blog about a tip she got from Jody Morrow, I finally remembered to search for plastic canvas shapes at my local Michael's. It's a cheaper way to do paper piercing. I bought a round and a rectangular piece for less than $1 total! Thanks Melanie and Jody, and of course, thanks Ericka!

Card Ingredients
Stamps: Inkadinkado Humorous Birthday
Paper: blue and cream textured papers (
Only the Best), Basic Grey Sugared designer paper
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Other: Rhinestones (Me & My Big Ideas), Sakura white gel pen, Darice plastic canvas shapes, 1/2" circle paper punch, paper piercing tools
