A weekend of scrapbooking.....

I got back last night from a weekend away with some amazingly talented crafty ladies.  So inspiring to watch people express themselves artistically though various mediums..... there were scrappers, cardmakers, origami makers, quilters, minibook makers, mixed media, gelly plate users..... so many new and exciting crafts.

I learnt some new things and some tried some new things that I will share another time but today I just wanted to show you some scrapbook pages completed for challenges closing today.....

Over on UKS Mini Owner is a well known scrapper and she has a blog and runs a monthly sketch challenge as I shared before.  This is the March sketch.....

and this is the page I made

Over at SJ Crafts Blog there is another challenge to be inspired by .....

I took my ideas from the colour palette....shades of brown,  blue and cream, using several photos, using square photos and images of water.  I really love the page I made of my hubby and son when we all went on a local walk.....

I turned this image from Sketch N Scrap......

into this layout that doubled up nicely as my weekly UKS page using the photo from 1 photo 20 words (we had to use numbers as part of the challenge, feature yourself, pic of yourself and visible journalling)

I loved being away for the weekend and can't wait to do it again (sadly not for several months I suspect!).  I will be back to share more pages and something else I made soon.

Sharing Scrapbook pages (not on Sunday!)

We are a family with laptops..... hubby has a laptop and a note book and both children have a laptop of their own....me well I have 2 laptops to choose from....the oldest and slowest laptop in the house (probably in the world!) or the faster one that only turns on about once in every one hundred attempts!  I have never actually had a laptop of my own but I am hoping this may change.

So one laptop is no good for sizing or cropping or editing photos in any way or for using any software from after about 1980... the other one can do all these things but I cannot turn the bloomin thing on.

I have lots of scrapping pics stored on the newer laptop.... shame on me as I now cannot access them..... so I am trying to share photos via UKS which I think will work..... here goes.....

This week over at UKS we had to use the Theme of Good Times, Use at least 3 colours, use Fabric and/or thread, use Flowers and Use a pen.

I used a sketch from Being Scrappy

and came up with this page

Sharing scrapbook pages on Sunday

Over at UKS the weekly challenge involved so many choices....

A - Sport - Inspired by the Cheltenham Cup - Horse Racing/Televised Sport/Personal Exercise/Other Sport Related LO
B - Charity - Inspired by Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month - Any kind of charity (not just cancer)/Helping Others/looking after animals
C - Lifestyle - Inspired by National Veggie Month (Vegetarian) - Home Grown Food/Home Cooking/Changes to your own lifestyle

and to include the following on the LO:
1) Doodling
2) Ribbon, lace or washi tape
3) Brads, eyelets or buttons
4) Altered flowers - eg punched/cut from PP/inked/handmade/made into something else

I made this page...

It is all about the challenge I set myself for February ( a month of letters) to send a piece of mail every day that there was post. I managed to use 2 lots of washi tape, doodling around the boxes of paper and a small envelope doodle and I added some red buttons.  I didn't manage to use any flowers though!

I sent post to 4 countries including the UK, using 4 different post boxes (most in my local area) the photograph shows the post box just outside the Craft Barn so I got to shop and take part in the challenge on the same day! I sent 7 birthday cards, 4 other cards and 15 smart women postcards (you may even have received one!)

I included how much all the postage cost (£14.82) and showed first and second class stamps and their prices. I also had tiny copies of some of the postcards which I used a mini embellishments.

I also managed to work with the colours in the Jot magazine mood board challenge so ended up with a very bright layout!

Scrap 365 sketch challenge

Love love love sketches and love this one from Scrap 365... will probably use it again as it is so adaptable....

I combined it with this colour scheme (for a challenge that I didn't actually enter!)

and with the Scrap our Stash birthday challenge #1 to use lots of layering

Guess what???  I made a Harry Potter page!

Sharing scrapbook pages on Sunday

As I said in an earlier post my team have set this weeks challenge over at UKS

We asked for.....

  • happy photos
  • bright cheerful colours
  • a Project Life style card to be used
  • a team member to be scraplifted from the gallery
We were all randomly assigned (by me) a team member to scraplift and I was given the uber talented Niki.  She has made so many fabulous pages it was actually difficult to choose but in the end I went for one where I could easily see how to 'fit' in a PL card

It is even better as it is a Harry Potter Studios layout so I had to keep with the theme (so easily done!) and I came up with this scraplift

We have had quite a few people join in with the challenge and we would love it if you did too!  You can find all the details here.

Hopefully you have all had a wonderful time in the sunshine wherever you were today, I filled the washing line twice to make the most of it!  Will catch up with you soon xxx

One Photo Twenty Words March

Pancake Day?  Actually the day after....using a different batter mix, a better cook and fortunately making perfect pancakes.....Yummy!

(This has been brought to you courtesy of the lovely Abi please feel free to join in with her band of 1P20W followers at Creating Paper Dreams)

Sharing Scrapbook pages on Sunday (on Monday???)

Good morning

I was unable to share a page yesterday as I hadn't take a photograph as it was so dark indoors and so wet outdoors!

Last week on UKS the challenge was to use more than 1 photo, ribbon and an interactive element. I decided to combine it with Sarah's cards Sketch challenge using this sketch

This is my page,,,

and this is the interactive element....

The fabulous embellishments were from my teamie and friend Fay who is very talented and you can see more of her creativity here.

This week on UKS my team have set the weekly challenge.... I would love it if you would take part even if you are not normally on UKS go over and have a look.  If you do make a page inspired by the challenge do let me know I would love to see your work xxx

See it, Pin it, Do it (SIPIDI)

What a fantastic idea!  I didn't join Pinterest until last year and now I spend hours looking at boards seeing who has pinned what and getting totally absorbed in pinning new things but what do I do with them..... often very little.

Until now.....

Fiona has inspired us all to see, pin and do and I am determined to join in with this monthly prompt to see what I actually manage to do!

In February I managed to complete some scrapbook challenges that have been pinned by me, but I decided not to share more scrapping.  Instead I thought I would talk about cake especially as Fiona's SIPIDI post was all about cake too!

Last week my nephew made the most wonderful cake for his mum and we were asked to guess what was in it...... we got it totally wrong......but wow was it moist and tasty.  I found the recipe, pinned it and decided that hubby would love it for his birthday this week and here is the end result......

It was actually made my DD as she said she wanted to do something special for her Dad (bless) but I still think it fulfills the SIPIDI criteria! As to what is in the cake go see the recipe..... not something I have used in cakes before and I have used some interesting ingredients in the past (beetroot/carrot/courgette in a cake anyone???)........mmmmm.........nom nom........
