These Immortal Souls - Get Lost (Don't Lie!)

These Immortal Souls were: Rowland S. Howard (Boys Next Door, Birthday Party, Crime and the City Solution), his brother Harry (C&TCS), Epic Soundtracks (C&TCS, Swell Maps, Jacobites) and Rowland's wife Genevieve McGuckin. They played a blues drenched, elegant and atmospheric brand of post punk strongly informed by Southern Gothic writings and general aura of loss and bleakness. This is their first album, a lost classic.

Tom Waits - Rain Dogs (1985)

One of my personal favorites. This album contains many of Tom Waits' best songs and features really superb arrangements. He has a unique and distinct style and has something for everyone. You'll want to read his lyrics like a book. Pop in this one and open up a bottle of bourbon.
"Waits employs a crack back up band, with significant guess appearances with performers like Keith Richards. The star back up musician is, however, Marc Ribot, who as he so often does provides stunningly original guitar lines that embellish every song upon which he appears."
