The Derby

Tyler had his pinewood derby last week! Our ward has an awesome scouting program, and I think everyone had a lot of fun racing their cars. Tyler won some and lost some and ended up somewhere in the middle. My favorite was when he won a race he would do a double fist pump and say "yes!" Kind of reminded me of Napoleon Dynamite:)
He won the award for best "showy" paint job because he painted it a shiny gold with a white racing stripe which he did all on his own, he was very proud!

Going over to weigh his car.

Setting up his car. I noticed after awhile that sometimes he was racing his car backwards on purpose. He just wanted to try it and he said he won a couple races with it backwards, it cracked us up.

There were 20 scouts from just our ward racing their cars!

Avery just wanted to go to bed:)

This and That

Sunday afternoon= spreading every blanket in the house on the floor, followed by getting all stuffed animals/animals of any kind and setting them up on the blankets. I looked up from doing dishes a few Sundays ago and this is what I saw...Avery getting stalked by "Mr. Fluffers, a shark, and an angry bird!"

She's a big girl now! I started potty training Sophie last week, and I'll spare ya the details, but she is doing grrreat!

Tyler has been working on his pinewood derby car with Chase this past weekend. There is an older dentist where Chase works that works with wood as a hobby, so Chase and Tyler went over to his house to cut out his car. They are an older couple and gave Tyler ice cream while he was there. I think he had fun. He wanted to paint his car gold with a white racing stripe down the middle, so that is what he did. I think we are going to get some snake stickers to put on the sides too. His pinewood derby is this Wednesday and I think he is excited to race his car!

A few pictures of Avery for good measure.

3 moms

The first mom...the most preffered, the one she's with 24/7, the one with the food.

The second mom...she's pretty darn helpful:) The one who can sing to Avery or hold her for a minute until I can finish using the bathroom, finish making lunch, or finish doing whatever it is I'm doing.

The 3rd mom...the scary mom. The one who shouts 1 inch away from the babies face "Oh hi Avy!" "Fuzzy Avy" (talking about her fuzzy hair). The one who gives her a nice hug and then squeezes just a little too hard as she is letting go:)

Avery at 4 months, I can't believe how big she is getting!

We went to a fun free activity at the Akron Library today. They had a kid concert, story telling and singing time with Word Girl and other animals (Ty and Halle got up and left to stand by Chase during this time because they were too big to be singing the wheels on the bus, and I didn't blame them). Chase took them to make puppets which were pretty cute. Then all of the kids were able to pick out a free brand new book to take home, they were pumped! It was a fun way to spend time together this morning.

Sophie wasn't too into the singing time. I tried helping her make the actions for the song Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes, and she started to cry. She liked the stories they read. She liked Word Girl and the other big dressed up animals on stage as long as they were far away.

The kids after getting their free book with a random big dog. I don't know who the dog was supposed to be but they thought he was cool!

Uncle McKay

We were lucky enough to have Uncle McKay visit us this weekend! After having him here for a few days, I think he and Ashley should have a bunch of kids. He is so good and patient with our kids. They were right in his face the whole time:) They miss you already and were so sad to see you go!!

The kids all snuggled up with Uncle McKay. Even Sophie loved McKay. He went in and got her out of her crib when she woke up the first morning, and she's loved him ever since!

Halle did not leave McKays side while he was here. She was mostly hanging around on his back with her face right in his. He is so patient and good with his nieces and nephews.

We had to take a picture to prove to Chase that his younger brother is definately taller than him. Chase just came over and mentioned what a terrible angle this picture was taken at! HA HA ! Sorry, he's taller than you at any angle:):)

aka

The other day my kids were asking me what aka meant. I told them it stands for also known as. For example Avery Jane is also known as or aka...Avers, Avs, "Amy Jame" (by Sophie), AJ (by dad, I really dislike this one a lot which really fuels Chase to call her that often thinking he is so funny). How bout we just stick with Avery:)

The kids on Christmas morning before church. Tyler 8, Halle 6, Sophie 2, Avery 3months. Christmas this year was spent in our own home. We missed our family, but had a wonderful Christmas. The kids are at the best ages ever for being excited about Christmas!

Tyler is growing up fast. Too fast. His favorite things he got for Christmas were his DS games and pillow pet nicknamed "mr. fluffers" from his grandmas. I think he is also pretty excited about getting to do a pine wood derby car with his dad in Feb.

Halle likes me to put sponge curlers in her hair so it's nice and curly in the morning. I like it too because it's fast in the morning. She has lost 3 teeth, 2 on the bottom and one on top. This year for Christmas she wanted "style boots, a real purse, and a princess celestia my little pony." We also celebrated her 6th birthday this Christmas. She thinks it is awesome to have her birthday on Christmas!

Sophie is now 2 and keeps us on our toes. She calls herself "Fophie", and has the funiest cute little run. My friend told me the other day that when she runs you should be able to hear little bells. We like to ask her to "run" to go get this or that for us for our own entertainment.

Sweet Avery Jane. 3 months old. She is a smiley baby, and loved by all of us, which is a lot of love!

We had such a great time with our friends the Russells and Smiths for Christmas Eve. Here is the crew in their nativity "costumes." We ate some delicious food, acted out the nativity, and decorated some gingerbread houses. It was so nice for us to be able to spend this holiday with good friends since we weren't close to any of our family.

Crayola doesn't make a color...

This is the kids new favorite song in the whole entire world. We are in the car a lot driving Chase to or from school, preschool carpool, and getting Tyler to and from school. I've heard it over 63 million times and still think it is a catchy little tune.
In other news, we are so excited for UNCLE TATE to visit us this coming week. He is going to be Chases' board patient. He doesn't know what fun he is in for:) Can't wait to see you Tuesday night Tate!
