Believe it or not, I was bored by the World Cup and decided to finish doing my jigsaw puzzle! Yeah, may be i'm still feeling sore from the previous match. Yeah, I got to see the handsome Podolski topless and smile so happily, but Argentina, the team that i'm rooting for is out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The happiness of feeling that your prediction is true, is much stronger than seeing Podolski topless okay!!!!
(And, please note that I AM NOT A PERVERT!!!! Hey, I'm a girl with active hormones so it's just natural!!!!)

Anyway, I didn't watch the whole Italy vs Ukraine game. I know that Italy will beat Ukraine anyway (and it's so true, the Italians beat Shevchenko and company three to nothing!!!)

But I have the volume turned quite high and whenever the commentators got excited over a possible goals or goals, I would run out of the room just in time to see the goal or the replay!!!

England game tomorrow. I really hope that Portugal will win. If not this tounament really is not going well as I predicted! Luckily I never bet. Otherwise, i would lose so much money!!!
Extra time!!!

THe game was really exciting and entertaining! THe referee wasn't "lunatic" also. It's really a great game. (Yeah, I also learnt that Pololski can take free kick!!! But sorry, I'm on ARgentina side this time.) I was so happy when Ayala scored and i really thought that Argentina will win. But all that feeling changed when Argentina keeper was injured and was substituted by an inexperienced keeper. Argentina really need to produced a world class goalkeeper too, not just a world class striker, midfielder or defender!!!

And Riquelme was substituted!!! The coach was really confident of winning i think. But Klose scored! "When we think he's not playing well, he scored!" Great!!! Argentina made their 3 substitution and Messi and Saviola were on the bench!!! I really don't know what went through the coach's mind, not playing messi or saviola when Riquelme was alrealy gone. I really hope that Argentina could play strong and beat Germany. Go Argentina!!!

Extra time over. Penalty shoot-out next!
I don't have confidence in ARgentina goalkeeper!
I think Germany will triumph this penalty shoot-out!
I hope i'm wrong!!!

I knew it!

Germany won!!!

The coach should not have taken out Riquelme and should put in Messi!!! It's down to a different level without Riquelme!!!! Argentina needed a playmaker to help them to control the game for them but they didn't have one!!! That, I feel, cost them the game. Well, using the favorite quote of Jose Mourinho, " The better team lost today!"

Now, I must find new team to support! May be I will support Germany!!! Let me think about it. I really don't want Brazil to win again and even more for not wanting England to win it ( not that i think they are capable of it, but ...)

Here's some excerp from the Canadian Press

"It was a very emotional game, worth a quarter-final," Argentina coach Jose Pekerman said. "Argentina played like a favourite, played well." (me: yeah, may be you need to think of better tactics next time, but Good job , Argentina!!)

Before the shootout, backup goalkeeper Oliver Kahn shook hands with Lehmann as he sat on the ground waiting for the penalty kicks to start. The two had been rivals for the starting spot before the World Cup.
Kahn, who started for Germany at the last World Cup when it lost to Brazil in the final, was dropped by Klinsmann in April.

(Me: That's so nice a gesture from Oliver Kahn! Teammates have to work together you know!)

Switzerland were really lousy in taking penalty!!! They missed all their chances! This was the first time I saw such thing!!!

Ooohhh, Shevchenko missed the penalty. Looks like he's still feeling the aftermath of the Champions League 2005 finals!!! Haha...

Arghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Ghana didn't win and and Spain LOST! Why???????? How can spain lose to France???? ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't see Torres and Casillas anymore :-( !!!!

Spain played so well. If only Ramos didn't block Casillas, maybe Casillas would hace caught the ball. THen...

It's over. Good job, Spain!

Can't watch the Italy-Aus match for full 90 min. Only managed to watch the last 10 min. I don't think Italy deserved that penalty. It wasn't even a foul, but good enought to impress the referee! When Totti took the penalty, I kept saying "Miss! Miss!" But well, he didn't! No more rep. for Asia! Oh well, I don't really think Aus could beat Italy but it would be nice for the match to go to extra time. Then I would be able to watch soccer while taking my lunch! Oh well, forget it.

This is off topic but I really have to get it out of my chest.
The bus driver purposely delay my time to get home! I don't really know if he actually did it purposely but i think he did. He's supposed to turn left at the traffic junction, instead, he drove straight. I was surprised and automatically turned to my cousin. And then I noticed the driver(around 20something) looked at us through his rear mirror and smiled!!! It's not my imagination. My cousin saw him smiled too.(See, he smiled, so he must have done that purposely!).So I thought may be he's going to take another route. But he didn't and I asked my cousin to go in front and ask the driver. But he didn't want so i decided to do it myself.I don't want to go back to the campus. But the traffic lights were still green. So I have to wait till the bus stop and ask that stupid driver! He finally stopped( quite a long way off already), but what to do the traffic lights didn't turn red!!!
Me:"Are you going back to school?" (what a dumb question, but i could only think of that at the moment.)
Driver: "Yes. Where are you going?"
Me:" Oak Park. You're supposed to turn left just now..."
Driver: "Oh, I didn't go that way, did I?"
Me:"Ya!". (Duh! Otherwise I won't be in the bus!!!And I really wanted to ask if he did that purposely, but well, i just thought to myself, "forget it! Don't waste time! I'm not good at arguing anyway!")
Then, the driver kept apologising to me and suggested that I dropped at the next stop or to stay on the bus and go back to the campus. I decided to stop at the next next stop (there's shade there).
But, but... The driver, didn't know why, decided to turn back and drive towards Oak Park after the first stop. I didn't ask him to do it. In fact I'm prepared to alight at the second stop.

There's something wrong with the driver!!!

OK, I don't want to admit it but Beckham's free kick is superb and very nice. But England didn't play well. Gerrard was okay, but didn't make enough impact as I wanted him to.Anyway, good luck to them. They will play against Portugal! The Portugal team who beat them at Euro 2004 quarter-final!

With or without Gerrard, I want England to lose. I don't want them to go to the semi! Y??? Because I predicted England won't go to semi and I want my prediction to be right. Well, actually, I 'm scared England will win. Although I don't think they are capable of doing it, with Beckham and his no.1 fan Eriksson( Please Eriksson didn't even substitute Beckham until the last few minutes, when it obvious that the captain is showing a symptom of dehydration and fatigue! Huh!), I'm still scared of such possibility! So the best thing is for england to lose!!!

Portugal played ok, well, at least better than Holland. Anyway, nobody really expect Holland to do well.

I want to comment on Cristiano Ronaldo. He's such a CRYBABY!!! He cried when he's injured and being substituted. I know he was worried that he might not be able to play in the next game versus England, but but ... what's there to cry about??? Please soccer is to help boys become men. To help them stronger physically and most importantly emotionally. You win some you lose some. You just have to move on. So what's there to cry about, more over when there's still a possibility that the injury may not be that bad after all. And he cried like a baby, and really mean like a baby or rather like a boy who had lost his way and wanted his mummy, when Portugal to Greece in Euro 2004. Oh well, he may look hot, but his attitude towards failure and problems really needs improvement!!!

And the referee for Portugal vs Netherlands game was very very bad! 12 yellow cards and 4 red cards!!! Just when I thought I have seen the worst in Italy-USA game!!! Wow!!!

Wow! Podolski scored a double! He's so cool when he scored! *blush*

Germany played a good game, the win really send the 66000 home crowd frentic!
The penalty to Sweden in the early minute of second-half really cause some worry, well, if they Sweden scored, there might be a chance for Sweden to come back, like how they did against England.

Argentina will definitely win against Mexico.
So Argentina vs Germany. Wicked!!!
As much as I hope to see Podolski scored again, I'm sticking to Argentina. They played with more style and I think is better overall.

Argentian won!!! I didn't expect Mexico to be so a hard a nut to crack!!! Well, Mexico's goalkeeper Oswald Sanchez is handsome, but he's old. 33yr old!!!(have to put it in my list too) He didn't look that old!!! Anyway, I watched the last few minutes of the match at a software shop in the city. There's this big plasma tv(50" i think) and directly in front of it is a black sofa! So it's just right that I sat on the sofa and enjoyed the last few minutes of the match. I was surprised that it went to extra time. Who would thought of it? It's Argentina! But i'm not worried. I feel that after surviving such a tough match, Argentina would be able to face other teams as a stronger team. Go Argentina!!!

My cousin brought us to the city (he's free because his gf is out of town). Otherwise, he wouldn't be so nice to bring us out!!! We went to the mall. The malls are so... "short", only two story! I think they have so much land to build many malls, so they don't need to build such a tall malls. May be if I go LA or NY then I can see multi-story shopping malls that I used to see. I brought a school t-shirt. It's orange in color. I definitely will only wear it to school. I feel weird wearing orange. As far as I could remember, I have never worn an orange shirt before. It's not a flattering color(right, Dr. Reitan?)!!! But it's the most common color ppl in my campus wear to sch. It's the color of the school after all! The shop sells it at a much cheaper price than the retail shops in the campus. 3 for $20! At the campus, it will be 1 for more than $11 or even $20.

Argh!!! Korea lost!!! The second goal should not count! I know many of you have said this and are sick and tired of this complaint, but I really felt the injustice done to Korea by the FIFA referee. Just when I thought that the referees are getting better, they downgraded themselves.

So I guess the Asians have to rely of the only "Asian" team left-Australia. What to do???

GOODBYE, KOREA!!!

Spain vs France would be very exciting to watch!!!
Many thought Spain would do well in this tournament. If they continue what they have done thus far, I feel they could go very far, including beating Thierry Henry's France!

World Cup Pictures

To what extend would one go to support their country?

What about the other cheek, Japan?

Triple force for Mexico!

The Portuguese or Serbia n Montenegero???

vs

And for the Iranians, the flag alone is enough! Isn't it?

For the Dutch fans, it's all in the hats!!!

Spanish Fan ( the spec. says it all!)

Tunisia fans (look at our face!)

Drenched!

What does it feel when you have paid a heafty for your ticket to sit at a grand World Cup stadium, but without (retractable) roof which can shelter you from rain???

And how worse can it be when already drenched physically, you emotions are drained too, especially as you watched the Ivory Coast team (below) dancing in the rain happily as they beat you dear team???

Japan 1-4Brazil

Brazil played well today. It's Ronaldo's day I guess. THe 'fat man' scored! Haha...
I agree with the commentator. The French referee who officiate the japan vs brazil game did a wonderful job. He didn't give away too many free kicks or yellow cards and keeps the fluency of the match! That's how a referee should be! I got irritated in the earlier matches when the referee kept blowing his whistle for the slightest foul, and worse of all is the referee for

USA vs Italy game. He gave too many yellow cards and of course red cards!!! May be that's why FIFA warned the referees and hence the referees are better now.

Poor Japan fan! Nice hair though!

Well, yeah my predictions are wrong, but I'm right about the score for USA vs Ghana game and I'm right to predict that Italy will win. Haha...

Congrats to Ghana! At least Africa got a representative.

Poor Czech Republic! Too bad they couldn't emulate their success in Euro 2004! I really thought they could go far in this World Cup.

How can we hide our disappointment? Disappointed Czech Republic coach (Bruckwoe), and captain., Nedved.

Hopefully, Korea will go to the next stage too and represent Asia. Yeah, Australia is under the Asian group. Of course, if not how could they even qualify for the World Cup? But could anybody really consider them Asian??? Not me anyway. Hope Korea win!!! Go Korea! Do Asia proud! Japan doesn't look to be in a good position!

We'll see!

Portugal won , Iran lost as expected. Couldn't watch the game. Got school!!!

Argentina vs Netherlands now. 0-0! I'm betting on Argentina to win World Cup. yeah I support England but I don't think England will win, especially with Eriksson as the coach. (sorry Gerrard! Don't doubt your ability, but I doubt your manager!) Hope McClaren will do a better job than his predecessor.

Ok, back to the Argentina-Holland game. Messi played well! The game's quite good overall. Argentina had a couple of good chances of scoring ,but credit to Van der Saar. He made good saves.

USA vs Ghana game tomorrow and I can't watch it!!!! I feel like skipping lesson but... I have to be resposible!!! ARGH!!!!
I feel USA will win and Italy may beat Czech Republic. But even if USA win, they will meet Brazil anyway. So what's the difference? Just that they will be kick-out a stage later!!!

My guess:
Italy-1-0Czech
USA2-1 Ghana

Did you know?

Did you know...

...that the Turk Hakan Sukur achieved the quickest goal duing a World Cup? He needed only 11 sec in 2002 in the match against South Korea.

...that the Belgian players forgot their shoes in the hotel in 1982 before their match against El Salvador? A police patrol car sped to the lodging, but had a flat tyre on the way. The next car came through and the Belgians were able to slide into their shoes in time for the game.

...that Gerd Muller is the most successful World Cup scorer of all times with his 14 goals? He made ten goals in 1970, and four years later he scored four times. The French player, Just Fontaine, follows with 13 goals and the Brazilians Pele and Ronaldo with 12 goals each.

( Correction, Ronaldo now holds he title!)

...that in 1974 even before the match between Brazil and Scotland began, whistles echoed throughout the Frankfurt Stadium? The reason: Not the Scottish national anthem was being played, but the English "God Save the Queen". The fans were sorely insulted.

World Cup

World Cup 2006 --- Germany.
Watching England Game now. Gerrard didn't play.(Stupid, Eriksson! Hope Sweden win!!!) Lampard squanderred chances again. If it were Gerrard, those chances would have been turned into goals!!! England scored! Joe Cole! ARGH!!! Go Sweden! Equalise!!! Must teach Eriksson a lesson that without Gerrard, England can't perform!(Can't help it, I'm a RED and I'm a Gerrard fan!) Oh ya, poor Owen, out injured. Hope he's okay.

YEAAHHHH!!! Allback scored for Sweden!!! One more and England's finished!!!!

Oh my!!! Rooney is being substituted with GERRARD!!!! Ok, i'm in England side again now. Haha... Gerrard played! Of course I have to support him and England!!!! I guess Eriksson didn't lose his mind completely yet!!!

I knew it!!!!!!!!!! Gerrard SCORED!!!! See, see what did I tell u. No Gerrard, England NO HOPE!!! Hope that teach Eriksson some lesson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Gerrard Saved England again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Arghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! Larsson scored!!! I don't believe it!!!! Gerrard plays, England should win. WEll, anyway, gerrard saved England! Otherwise Sweden2- England 1, so Gerrard's still the hero rite??? Of course!!!

You can't blame me for supporting gerrard! I mean he's good and the most important thing, he's my favorite player! But don't get me wrong, I don't just watch soccer because I want to see the athletic and suave footballer. I know how the game is played, and yeah, I do know what an offside is! Even before the linesman raised up his flag, I would shouted "Offside!" Don't believe me? Ask my cousin!

Anyway, if I were to watch soccer just to see suai ge, I wouldn't last the whole 90min, not forgetting the extra time, if there is. And they are not worth me waking in the wee hour! My beauty sleep is more important! I watched for quality soccer! Even if there isn't any handsome and suave players playing (like Brazil or erm... Paraguay? I don't know much about Paraguay, so forgive me, but anyway, they don't play good football. And seriously, besides Kaka, I don't think there's any suai ge in the Brazil team, but they play beautiful football, so they are worth for my time watching them!), I would still watch the game. Quality of the match is more important althought the handsome players would be a most welcome bonus :D

World Cup Hunks

WoW! Germany won by 3-0! Klose scored a double and Podolski scored too!!! ( I think Podolski is quite handsome!*blush*)

Here's a list of who I think look good in the world cup:
Germany: Klose, Ballack, Podolski

England : Owen, Gerrard, Lampard, Carson,Joe Cole, Robinson, Downing ( dunno y, I have never been attracted to Beckham. I guess his charisma doesn't work on me! Haha)

Ah, I will just state anyone who come into my mind.
Torres (can't stand his tatoo though),Casillas,Alonso,Raul,Joaquin, C.Ronaldo, Saviola,Kaka,Kewell(with his hair short), Shevchenko, Cech??? erm... I can't think of anyone else right now. Oh ya, I think Totti looks handsome with his new hairstyle. Should cut it short long time ago!!!Ahn Jung Hwan may be, but dun like his hair!

Update again when I notice or think of someone else.

Ya, Robin van Persie, but he looks like a school boy in that Holland jersey. What's with the collar? Rafael Van der Vaart and Pablo Aimar look cool too!

Yeah, Huga Viana also!

Here's what I don't understand about footballers. Why do they get married or have children at such a young age(mid-twenties is young!!!)?
Well, may be I know about the having children part. If it is a boy, then they would most likely follow their dads' footpath and become footballers too. THen the dads won't be too old and are able to train with them, etc. But don't get the walking down the aisle! Like Kaka. He's only 24 years old and he's already married to a 19 years old girl!!! Waah!!! I don't get it!

The depth of quality available to Sven Goran Eriksson is impressive and in Gerrard he has a midfielder with few peers in world football.
Bursting with energy and with a fine scoring record, the Liverpool captain has not always shown his best form with England, so he will be desperate to put that right in Germany. His status as an Anfield legend is already assured after he lifted the Champions League trophy last season, so now for the international legacy.
Gerrard is currently engaged to Alexandra "Alex" Curran from Merseyside. They have been engaged since 2004 and have been seeing each other since 2002. They plan to marry in the summer of 2007. They have two daughters: Lilly-Ella (born 23 February 2004) and Lexie (born 9 May 2006).

Gerrard and Lexie, his second daughter(below). Awww.....

Fernando Torres

One of the most talked about forwards in the game looks certain to be heading for the exit door at Madrid's 'other club' this summer, but whoever manages to capture his signature will not have much money left over in their transfer kitty.
Premiership outfit Newcastle United are confirmed admirers of his abilities, but you suspect he may be able to secure himself a chance a bigger club if he makes the sort of impact he is hoping for in Germany this summer.
Such motivation to impress can only help him perform at his very best for Spain.
Nicknamed El Nino (The Child), his brand of speedy forward play is always a joy to watch and his clinical touch in front of goal means he is a sort after talent.

Iker Casillas

Full name: Íker Casillas Fernández Born: May 20, 1981

Being the first pick between the sticks behind Real Madrid's porous defence has been a thankless task in recent times, yet Casillas has continued to shine week after week for the La Liga bridesmaids.
There can be no doubting his commitment to Real, his hometown club who he has been associated with since the age of eight. His arrival in the first team could not have been more spectacular as he played in the 2000 Champions League Final against Valencia and he has not looked back since.
A sensational shot stopper, Casillas tends to get his body in the way of everything that is thrown at him and is one of those keepers who can look unbeatable at times, even though he can be a little unorthodox.
Linked with a move to Manchester United in recent years, his contract ties him to Real until 2011.

Lukas Podolski

Germany's answer to Wayne Rooney, the attacking prodigy is at his best in a free-wheeling role just behind the strikers. His explosive left-footed shooting, physical strength and bursts of acceleration make him a permanent threat.
Since winning his first full cap against Hungary on the eve of Euro 2004, Podolski has maintained a healthy international strike-rate, including three goals at last year's Confederations Cup. However, there have been some worrying signs that he has been resting on his laurels, flitting in and out of matches for Cologne and becoming embroiled in rows with club management. Talk of a big money move to Bayern Munich has been an additional distraction.
He was born in Poland but brought up in the German Rhineland. He seems to be endorsing everything at the moment from computer games to deodorants and fruit juice.

Kaka
Full name: Ricardo Izecsondos Santos Leite

Brazil coach Carlos Alberto Parreira is blessed with a host of magical talent to select from this summer, but he must be able to find a place for Kaka in his ranks.
A goal scoring midfielder who has already established himself as a star turn for club and country and this World Cup provides him with the chance to cement his reputation as one of the game's great entertainers.
He got his nickname when his younger brother couldn't pronounce the name Ricardo when he the pair were growing up. Kaka was the closest he could get and the name has stuck. Kaka married Caroline Celico on December 23 2005 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
