I was blog hopping, and i come across a blog post about terrapins, which in turn brought back my childhood memories. I once owned two terrapins too, but I had forgotten about their name. *Alright, I admit that I'm Mei Liang Xin*. And I dont even have a single photo of them, because we dun have a camera back then in the 90s. (The below images are kapo from other people)

My terrapins living in the exact same "cage"

I had them with me for about a year, and after that the custody was left with my grandpa. Well, part of the reason is that my Secondary School is rather far from my childhood neighbourhood area - bugis, so... I have to shift back to my own home at Hougang instead. And so, terrapins continued to stay with my grandparents.

Besides being very dirty because of their excrement, my memories of these terrapins is that they are very choosy in terms of their meals. When we bought them, we had some bottles of dried food that are supposed to be specially for terrapins. But for the first two days, they didnt even eat a single bit at all. They just step and smash onto their food. In the end, i stole some Xiao Bai Cai from my grandma's fridge. And to my surprise, the turtle finally starts to open their mouth and take their first bite within 5 minutes. Further more, they only eat the leafy parts and left the stems totally out of their diet plan. Arent they just very picky?!!!! In terms of characteristic, they are sort of coward and at the same time do have that challenger spirits. But I'm rather prod of them because they are quite an intelligent animal in some way. In the cage, there's a specific ladder which seems like a fitness ground for the terrapins. At first, I really don't think the terrapins can really climb up the ladder. And even if they did climb up....how are they going to get down?! Well, my terrapins did proved me wrong. After a few tries, they eventually gets to the top of the ladder with each other's help. And how do they get down? the terrapins just simply jump down from the ladder.

There was once, when one of the terrapins jumped down and overturn. The terrapins didnt manage to turn itself back, and it struggled for a very long (i think so). Ever since then, that particular terrapin sort of avoid the ladder due to phobia...

Another of their favourite past times is to stack on top of one another on the red bridge. They just laze around stared at the electric that was placed beside the cage. Hmmmm Perhaps they are thinking about how to escape the cage by jumping towards the fan that sways from left to right?

On Hot days, the terrapins will snatch for the most cooling spot in the cage.... which is under the bridge. There's nothing call first come first served for of them, as they would simply pushed one another out.

Well.... a few years later, one of them died. And how about the other terrapin? According to my grandpa, it was released to kallang reservoir/river. Seriously, i wonder will this terrapin will be able to survive there....
