NEWS FLASH: New Poster, Trailer, Film Festival, and Nomination for Channing Tatum's 'Battle in Seattle'

MovieSet.com just let me know that the US trailer for Channing Tatum's upcoming drama 'Battle in Seattle' has now been released. They also sent me the new poster for the film, which you can see on the right.

Based on one of the most incendiary political uprisings in a generation, 'Battle in Seattle' takes an in-depth look at the five days that rocked the world in 1999 as tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets in protest of the World Trade Organization.

What began as a peaceful protest intended to stop the WTO talks quickly escalated into a full-scale riot and eventual State of Emergency that squared off peaceful and unarmed protesters against the Seattle Police Department and the National Guard.

You can CLICK HERE to watch the new, exclusive trailer on MovieSet.com or you can check it out below. I am happy to say that this version (unlike the French one I posted recently) does include Channing, so make sure to check it out.

In addition to the new trailer and poster, I also learned from Leigh at Michelle-Rodriguez.com that 'Battle in Seattle' is going to open the 34th annual Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF). Director Stuart Townsend, Charlize Theron and Martin Henderson are all scheduled to walk the red carpet at the festival's opening-night gala at 7:30pm on May 22, 2008 at McCaw Hall in the Seattle Center.

SIFF is the largest and longest-running film festival in the country and runs from May 22 - June 15, 2008. The complete festival schedule will be announced May 8th, but you can CLICK HERE to learn more and buy tickets to the BIS screening.

Today it was also announced that 'Battle in Seattle' has been nominated for a Leo Award in the Feature Length Drama category. The awards ceremony will be held Saturday, May 24, 2008 in Vancouver, BC at the Westin Bayshore. You can CLICK HERE to see the rest of the nominees.

'Battle in Seattle' is truly an exceptional film, and I know this is just one of many nominations the movie will receive before all is said and done. If you want to learn more about the movie, you can CLICK HERE to read about my experience at the US premiere of the film at the South by Southwest film festival a few weeks ago. I have now added a new video of the Q&A with director Stuart Townsend and actor Martin Henderson to the post. You can also check out the BIS official website.

'Battle in Seattle' is set to have a theatrical release in September 2008.

Channing Tatum Trivia Question of the Day

Here's a behind-the -scenes photo of Channing Tatum from Movieset.com taken while shooting his upcoming drama 'Battle in Seattle', which is set for a March 2008 limited release in the US.

In the film, Channing plays a swat cop named Johnson during the highly-charged riots that occurred when activists protested the meeting of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 1999. November 30th will actually be the 8th anniversary of the uprising.

If you know the answer to the following Battle in Seattle-themed Trivia Question of the Day, just add a comment to this blog entry and show the readers your Channing smarts. You will find the comments link on the bottom, right side of this post.

If you don't know the answer, feel free to research it on this blog, online, or where ever else you can get the answer. If there is no answer in the next couple of days, I will post the answer on the blog.

Here is the question:

Can you name the Canadian museum that was used as one of the many filming locations for 'Battle in Seattle'?

Hint: Other productions that have shot at this popular gallery include Scooby Doo, Monsters Unleashed, The Core, Case 39, Psych, Cold Squad, Dark Angel, Josie and the Pussycats, Outer Limits, Edison, Da Vinci's Inquest, The L Word, Lake Placid, Just Cause, Conspiracy, Smallville, Stargate SG1 and The X Files.

RUMOR OR REEL?: Channing Tatum's Movie 'Battle in Seattle' Will Have World Premiere at Toronto International Film Festival

Channing Tatum's next film 'Battle in Seattle' (BIS) is rumored to have its theatrical release at this year's 32nd annual Toronto International Film Festival® (TIFF), which will run from September 6-15, 2007.

Leigh, who runs the Official Michele Rodriguez website, told me that the release is not 100% confirmed yet, because TIFF will make their official film list announcement on August 21st.

Because the movie has a large-cast and decent budget, was filmed in Canada, is covering an important subject, etc. is seems that the film has a really great chance of being chosen for the film festival.

Leigh also told me that if she gets any confirmation prior to August 21st, she'll let me know and ofcourse I will pass the info on to all of you.

Currently, the movie is supposed to release in US theaters in November or December 2007, and there is also a theatrical release scheduled in the Netherlands for March 13, 2008.

If you want more information, photos, and videos on the movie, you can check out the articles here on CTU, on the Official Battle in Seattle website, and on the behind-the-scenes BIS source MovieSet.com.

Channing Tatum's Movie Battle in Seattle Embraces the Green Movement

DID YOU KNOW?...Channing Tatum's activist ladden movie, Battle in Seattle, decided to do more than just talk the talk. They decided to also walk the walk by becoming more green on the set. They made the decision to use all natural (a.k.a. green) skincare products on all of the actors in the movie.

The actors requested that only completely pure products be used while filming the movie. The lead make-up artist, Monica Huppert, used a number of natural skincare products from the Alchemist’s Apprentice, an online apothecary selling 100% synthetic and chemical-free personal care items.

Because much of the movie was filmed outdoors in Canada, Huppert had to battle dry skin that accompanied the cold weather. They used a selection of organic skincare products from the Gorgeous skincare line.

Battle in Seattle, which is actor Stuart Townsend's directorial debut, follows the 1999 World Trade Organization riots in Seattle and is currently scheduled for release on November 29, 2007. Channing Tatum plays the role of Johnson, one of the riot cops in the movie. You can learn more about the movie on the Battle in Seattle official site and get more behind the scenes scoop at MovieSet.com.

CTU SNEAK PEEK: Exclusive Battle in Seattle Gift to CTU from MovieSet.com

No this adorable little 6 year old is NOT Channing Tatum when he was a little boy, although I am sure he was almost as cute. This actually is one of my beautiful little boys (aka Bry) sporting the AWESOME limited edition Battle in Seattle production crew cap that Clay over at MovieSet.com so graciously sent me. Since Bry is such a cutey, I figured you wouldn't mind that Channing was not in this one picture.

The exclusive cap was given to the production crew of Channing Tatum's movie Battle in Seattle. The inset shows Bry with his "tough guy face" and the back of the cap.

I am totally giddy right now, because I have never owned anything that was part of an actual movie before. And if you can include an inanimate object in the whole six degrees of Kevin Bacon game between me and Channing Tatum, then my cap was intended for a person who worked on Channing's movie Battle in Seattle and one or more of those people worked with Channing Tatum.

You know someone had to film him, feed him via craft services, hold the boom above his head, do his makeup, help him get into and out of his riot gear :-), wipe the sweat off his brow, and an assortment of other jobs I wish I had on Channing's set.

I am not totally sure, but that seems like four degrees of separation from me to Channing Tatum, [me-->>cap-->>production crew person-->>Channing]. That's as close as I've ever been to the uber hot actor, so I'll take it.

So why is this a Channing Tatum Unwrapped Sneak Peek? Well, Clay told me that you too may have a chance to win one of these exclusive caps from MovieSet.com and Battle in Seattle. MovieSet.com is thinking about giving away another cap to Battle in Seattle fans soon. So as usual, stay tuned to Channing Tatum Unwrapped to learn when you may be able to get your very own exclusive piece of movie history.

Also, since I just received such a cool gift from MovieSet.com, I think it is a perfect day to announce our next CTU fan giveaway contest. Check back later today to see how you can enter and win!!!

Now, you will have to excuse me, because I have to go hermetically seal my cap, since my son's extremely handsome and equally smart little nogin is the last head it will EVER be placed on. ;-)

Channing Tatum's MTV.com Interview on New Movie Battle in Seattle

Today Movie File at MTV.com published a quick interview they recently did with Channing Tatum on his new movie Battle in Seattle. Here you go...

[You've heard of Ali and Foreman's Rumble in the Jungle — now get ready for the "Battle in Seattle," a film written and directed by actor Stuart Townsend about the 1999 World Trade Organization riots. "Step Up" lead Channing Tatum will star in the film based on one of America's most incendiary political uprisings in recent history, and he said "Battle" is "very 'Crash'-esque," centering on "six or seven people and their stories going through these three days of chaos."

Tatum, who plays a SWAT officer alongside Woody Harrelson as his partner, said the film shows "what everybody went through — what the cops went through, what the kids went through, what the politicians went through. It was just nuts." At more than 40,000 people strong, the intense protest of globalization led Seattle police to eventually use tear gas, rubber bullets and pepper spray to clear the crowds. As a SWAT officer, then, does that make Tatum the bad guy? "That's kind of what the film's about," the 26-year-old actor said. "Everyone was right in their way, but everyone was wrong in their way too." "Battle in Seattle" hits theaters in December.

You can learn more about the movie on the new official Battle in Seattle website and at MovieSet.com to get all of the behind-the-scenes scoop.

MovieSet.com Says Channing Tatum Fans Rule!!!

Clay over at MovieSet.com has posted an article on their new blog that talks about why Channing Tatum has the best fans!

Here is what he has to say about all of us:

"The cool part about my experience with Channing Tatum is that nothing I have heard about him has come from official sources. Instead, everything I know about the guy has come from fan-based websites and blogs. The ones I’ve had the most contact with are channingtatum.org and channingtatumunwrapped.blogspot.com. These fans are dedicated, true supporters. They scour sources for everything Channing and are ecstatic when they find new content. And yes, they’ve been extremely supportive of what we’re doing at MovieSet, but that’s in large part due to the fact that we’ve helped fuel their commitment to Channing.

The reason I find this so interesting is because it illustrates how much power consumers have in this age - especially in the entertainment industry. The Channing Tatum phenomenon (yes you can use that term if you’d like) is all based on user participation, similar to the recent popularity of user-generated advertising. The term brand communities has been around for a long time and relates to groups of people that come together to celebrate a product. Now we’re getting to see how communities can form and proliferate around individual people - celebrity communities if you will.

The one thing I can’t figure out in all of this is why his publicity people haven’t become more involved with these supporters - he doesn’t even have an official website. Of course at this point, he might not need to set one up, but his publicity people could proactively get behind these fan sites and supply information and content more than they seem to do.

Channing Tatum, you are a very fortunate person. Now I need to go figure out how to get people to make fan-based websites about me and start an All I Want for Christmas is Clay Facebook group with 15,000 members
[a reference to Dave's huge Channing Fan group on Facebook called All I want for Christmas is Channing Tatum!]."

Check out MovieSet.com's blog to read the rest of the article and other articles from the #1 source for behind-the-scenes Battle in Seattle information.

On a side note: As you know, Channing Tatum is pretty easy on the eyes, so that fact alone makes being a huge fan a no-brainer, as they say. More importantly, he is also an amazing actor. I just finished watching Channing's powerful performance in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, and I now truly understand why the critics have praised him so much. If you have not seen it yet, you really need to. You will see Channing in a new light and probably love him even more.

CTU SNEAK PEEK: New Channing Tatum Pictures on MovieSet.com for Battle in Seattle

I absolutely always love writing this blog, but it's days like this when I feel like a kid in a candy store.

I thought I was happy when I find out that Channing had signed on for his new action film, but now I know true happiness....here is a wonderful gift sent to me by my awesome friend Clay over at MovieSet.com.

As you can see, this is a gorgeous new still of Channing Tatum in his upcoming movie Battle in Seattle that should have it's theatrical release some time later this year.

Here are my thoughts on this photo...I am pretty sure it is a requirement in Channing's contracts that he go shirtless at some point in almost every movie he is in. My questions is: is Channing naked in this picture? I can't wait to see the movie so I can figure it out. :-)

This is a Channing Tatum Unwrapped Sneak Peak, because Clay told me that MovieSet.com will be posting more stills of Channing in the photo gallery on their site very soon, so stay tuned to Channing Tatum Unwrapped and MovieSet.com to get the latest behind-the-scenes scoop on Channing and Battle in Seattle.

Oh and one more thing, MovieSet.com has a new blog that you should also check out at http://blogs.movieset.com.

Exclusive New Channing Tatum Interview on MovieSet.com for Battle in Seattle

Our friends over at MovieSet.com work really hard to give us fans behind-the-scenes interviews and information on our favorite actors and films. For Channing Tatum and Battle in Seattle fans they have just posted an exclusive interview on MovieSet.com with Channing taken while he was making his new film Battle in Seattle.

Written and directed by Stuart Townsend, Battle in Seattle is based on what was considered to be one of the most incendiary political uprisings in our generation. The movie takes an in-depth look at the five days that rocked the world in 1999 as thousands of demonstrators protested the meeting of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Seattle's streets. Although it began as a peaceful protest with a goal of stopping the WTO talks, the protest quickly escalated into a full-scale riot and eventual State of Emergency that put peaceful and unarmed protesters against the Seattle Police Department and the National Guard.

In Battle in Seattle we are able to experience what the protesters, police, delegates, doctors, and city of Seattle went through on those dark days in 1999. Dramatic theatrical performances of the star-studded cast are merged with the actual footage of the event to bring the different viewpoints to life in the movie.

Channing plays Johnson, one of the riot cops that tries to help bring peace back to what seems like a war-torn city. The cast also includes such established heavy weights and new-comers as Charlize Theron, Woody Harrelson, Ray Liotta, Michelle Rodriguez, and André Benjamin (aka Andre 3000 of Outkast).

In the interview, Channing talks about how his experience on this movie has made him want to work more often with directors who are also actors, because it made the entire production process much easier.

Woody Harrelson also talks about how much he has enjoyed working with Channing, because the young actor seems to have an innate ability to channel or truly become his character. This seems to be a trend for Channing, because we also saw this when he took on the role of Antonio in 2006's A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints.

The interview ends with Channing saying how his work on Battle in Seattle has solidified why he loves acting so much. Channing says it best, "It's better than any job ever created by man by far."

You can CLICK HERE to view the interview on YouTube. I have also added the video to the Channing Tatum Unwrapped Video Playlist. Thanks to Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan Naz for letting me know about the video's addition to YouTube.

MovieSet.com has given us another great behind-the-scenes look at Channing on the set of Battle in Seattle and they have told me that there is a lot more where that came from for Channing fans. Stay tuned to Channing Tatum Unwrapped to be the first to find out about more exclusive Channing interviews on MovieSet.com.

Channing Tatum Unwrapped on MovieSet.com

It seems that the guys over at MovieSet.com liked our recent article on them and Channing Tatum's next movie Battle in Seattle so much they put us in the Latest News section of their site.

The really exciting part is that MovieSet.com called Channing Tatum Unwrapped "one of Channing Tatum's premiere fan sites". Not too shabby for a new fan blog, if I say so myself. I can honestly say that it feels pretty good to be a part of something that "belongs" to Channing! :-D

You can also view the recent fan-driven interview of Channing's co-star in Battle in Seattle, Michelle Rodriguez, at http://battleinseattle.movieset.com. Talk about reality TV. These interviews are so real that poor Michelle's dog even got sick as she was answering a question. Michelle stops the interview long enough to make sure the dog is OK and then continues answering the lengthy list of fan questions. I was really impressed with the insiteful fan questions and the thoughtful answers that Michelle gave to their questions about her and her role in the movie.

So let's all just keep our fingers crossed that MovieSet.com is able to arrange the same type of interview with Channing. And we can just pray for his minor emergency to be that he spills something all over his t-shirt, takes his shirt off because of the mess and has to keep it off for the entire interview. A girl can hope, right? ;-D

I'll keep you all posted.

How would YOU like to interview Channing Tatum?

Have you heard of a website called MovieSet.com? MovieSet.com is this awesome new site that let's us fans go behind the scenes of movies way before they ever hit the theaters. In the past, we had to wait until the press tour or the DVD extras to get all of the juicy info on what really happened on the set of our favorite movies and in the scenes with our favorite stars. Well, MovieSet.com is on a mission to change that.

On top of giving us behind the scenes photos, video, and hard to find production information, they also arrange events with the stars in the movies for us fans. For example, they just recently had a live interview online with Michelle Rodriguez for one of Channing Tatum's newest movies, Battle in Seattle.

They had Michelle's fans submit questions and Michelle answered them as if the fans were actually interviewing her themselves. How cool is that?

So what does that little factoid have to do with you? Well, our sources over at MovieSet.com have told Channing Tatum Unwrapped they are trying to arrange the same type of virtual fan interview with Channing Tatum to help promote his movie Battle in Seattle. :-D

So what this means is that you may be able to virtually interview Channing (or at least submit a question to him that he will answer on the live interview on MovieSet.com)! Stay tuned to Channing Tatum Unwrapped and I will let you know if and when the interview with Channing is confirmed and how you can submit questions to MovieSet.com.

In the meantime, make sure to checkout MovieSet.com to get pictures, video, and information on Channing's highly-anticpated movie Battle in Seattle.

In case you don't already know, the movie is about the true-life event in 1999 where thousands of activists went to Seattle, Washington to protest a meeting of the World Trade Organization. Riots and chaos ensued when the large crowds became hostile and the police were outnumbered. Channing actually plays a heavily tattooed, tougher than nails riot cop in the movie. Here is a link to the production photos and videos on MovieSet.com for Battle in Seattle.

You can see Channing's MovieSet.com production photos in the Channing Tatum Unwrapped Photo Gallery.

If you could ask Channing a question, what would you ask? Leave a comment and let us know or click here to share your thoughts with other CTU readers on the very first ever Channing Tatum Flickr discussion group.
