IN THE PRESS: Channing Tatum and CTU Featured in July 2009 Italian Vogue

Zulay Henao, Channing Tatum, and Terrence Howard in Fighting Posters

Channing Tatum's action movie 'Fighting' was released in South Africa and Iceland on July 24th and is scheduled to hit theaters in Italy some time this month too.

To celebrate the Italian release of the film, Vogue Italia interviewed Chan for an article in their July 2009 issue, which is currently on newsstands all around the world. In an unusual twist, they also interviewed me for Chan's article to learn about CTU and Chan's fans and requested a couple of CTU graphics I made for possible use in the article.

In the recent past, CTU graphics have been used in an Australian online magazine and on various websites, but this is the first time that a major publication has requested an interview and wanted to use a graphic, so I was really excited about the request.

I didn't know if they would use any of the material or not until I received three copies of the magazine from Vogue and opened up the issue. I can't even explain how cool it was to see my graphic used in the article!!!

More importantly, I can't speak or read a lick of Italian, but could clearly understand the "Foto Q of ChanningTatumUnwrapped.com" photo credit in the right margin of the article. Needless to say, it's a proud moment for me and CTU. You can check out the article for yourself below, and if you happen to read Italian, feel free to share your thoughts of the article...

'Fighting' (aka 'Hai! Ne Batem!') will next hit theaters in Romania on July 31, 2009.

In other news...Through the grapevine, I heard yesterday that Chan may be promoting his film 'G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra' on Jimmy Fallon on August 4th. Stay tuned for more details...

CTU IN THE NEWS: Channing Tatum and CTU Featured in Australia's POP Republic Magazine

Channing Tatum and a CTU Wallpaper in Australia's POPRepublic.tv (June 2009 Issue - Cover & Article)

Channing Tatum is featured in the June 2009 issue of Australia's POPRepublic magazine for his role in this summer's blockbuster 'G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra', which hits theaters on August 7th.

In addition to a promotional photo from the film, I was surprised to see that they also used one of the wallpapers I just created for CTU in the popular digital magazine. You can check out the original wallpaper in a recent 'G.I. Joe' article I posted, and you can CLICK HERE or on the image below to download a high quality version of the graphic too!

Because this is such a busy year for Chan with 'Fighting', 'Public Enemies' and 'G.I. Joe', he is going to be featured in a lot of magazines and interviews all around the world. And in an insane twist, I was even recently interviewd by Vogue Italia for an article they're working on about Chan.

They asked me if they could use a couple of CTU wallpapers I created, and they also wanted to learn more about all of Chan's fans here at CTU. Who knows if the wallpapers or any of my interview will end up in the magazine, but it was a HUGE honor to even be asked.

As always, make sure you stay tuned to Channing Tatum Unwrapped, because I'll definitely keep you all posted on any new articles and interviews Chan does!!

CTU IN THE NEWS: Channing Tatum Unwrapped Get's Channing and 'Stop-Loss' Coverage in Variety

Variety and the Hollywood Reporter are two of the most commonly read and well-respected sources for entertainment industry news, and I often use the information they provide as a basis for the articles here on CTU.

Because the trade magazines are so popular in the industry, I was extremely excited to see them write an article based on one of my recent blog posts.

Thanks to 'Stop-Loss' director Kimberly Peirce for sharing the news with me, I think I was the first to report that the film was going to be shown at the upcoming South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas. Well, that little tidbit of inside information made it all the way to Anne Thompson, Variety.com's deputy editor, and her popular weekly blog called Thompson on Hollywood.

She was even nice enough to link to the blog and use a picture of Chan for the article. I couldn't be more excited for CTU, Channing, and 'Stop-Loss', and I can't wait to see the film at South by Southwest.

Just to remind you, please make sure to head on over to Facebook and fan the new 'Stop-Loss' movie page. You will automatically be entered to win a Panasonic Camcorder, and you be able to get exclusive news, videos, and photos for the film.

You can CLICK HERE or on the image to the left to support Channing and his upcoming film 'Stop-Loss', which releases in US theaters on March 28, 2008. CLICK HERE to see the trailer and to learn all of the current world-wide release dates.

CTU IN THE NEWS: Channing Tatum Unwrapped's Article Resurfaces on JustJared.com

I was patrolling the internet, as I usually do every morning, and ran across this article and photo that looked vaguely familiar.

I noticed that JustJared.com ran my story from Tuesday about Channing Tatum and his girlfriend Jenna Dewan meeting and taking a picture with fans in the Salt Lake City airport.

From what I understand, Chan was visiting Jenna for the week while she works on her current film "The Jerk Theory" in Utah.

One of my biggest goals with CTU is to promote Chan to a broad audience online, because that's where many of his current and future fans hang out. JustJared.com has millions of readers each month, so I'm always happy to see my articles get legs and end up on sites like his.

This particular article was a great one to get picked up, because it's really good for people to know how awesome Chan is with his fans (whether it's at an official event or if he runs into people in his personal time).

It goes without saying that CTU readers all know how great Channing Tatum is to his fans, but now all of JustJared.com's millions of readers will know it too.

CTU MISSION ACCOMPLISHED... ;-D

CTU NEWS: IMDB Says Channing Tatum Unwrapped is Official

I started Channing Tatum Unwrapped as a fan site on January 1st of this year, and Channing Tatum miraculously and thankfully decided to make CTU his official site on the August 16th, a fact that I am infinitely proud of.

In case you missed it, you can CLICK HERE to read all about the incredible day that Channing sent me the camera phone picture to the left and made CTU official.

It's taken a few months, but now the extremely popular entertainment website Internet Movie Database or IMDB (the self-professed biggest, best, most award-winning movie and TV site on the internet) has finally listed Channing Tatum Unwrapped as Channing Tatum's official website. Better late than never as far as I'm concerned. ;-)

You can CLICK HERE to see the new IMDB status for yourself and know with complete certainty that Channing Tatum Unwrapped is as official as official gets. :-D

CTU IN THE NEWS: Channing Tatum Unwrapped's 'Step Up 2: The Streets' Coverage Highlighted on RopeofSilicon.com

I am happy to say that Channing Tatum Unwrapped earned a little street cred yesterday, when the popular movie news site RopeofSilicon.com mentioned my coverage of Channing Tatum's cameo in 'Step Up 2: The Streets' in one of their articles and also linked to the blog.

I think it's cool, because RopeofSilicon.com usually has news bites from very popular sites like E! Online, TMZ, CBS News, Yahoo News, and yes even the infamous Perez Hilton. So it feels pretty awesome to be listed amongst those type of movie and entertainment news sources, in addition to the fact that it gives Channing and 'Step Up 2: The Streets' even more exposure.

So yeah to Channing Tatum Unwrapped for not only being official, but for also being considered a legitimate movie news source! :-D

Thanks again to all of my wonderful sources on and off set for helping make that happen!

NEWS FLASH: 'Step Up 2: The Streets' Launches New Website and Competition

After months of me releasing details about the movie in bits and pieces as I found information all over the internet, 'Step Up 2: The Streets', the sequel to Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan's infectious dance movie 'Step Up', has finally made an official announcement about the movie and has put up the new MySpace profile for the movie that will star Robert Hoffman.

Here is the new 'Step Up 2: The Streets' site on MySpace where you can also check out a video of the lead, Robert Hoffman dancing:

It seems that they will be looking for both dancers and singers to showcase their talents in the movie and on the film's soundtrack. If you are going to enter the competition, you should go to the MySpace Page to get the rules, submit your solo and dance team videos, get tips on how to increase your chances of winning the competion, and to download the music you need to use in your audition video. They will start looking for singers in October for the movie that will release in February 2008.

I also found a new article in the Hollywood Reporter that gives us more info on the movie's recent announcment, confirms a lot of the information that I had already posted on the blog over the past few months, and tells you how you can get involved in choosing the contest winner. Here's the article:

'Step Up 2' Ready to Dance

By Carolyn Giardina

"Step Up 2 the Streets," the sequel to Touchstone Pictures/Summit Entertainment's "Step Up," has announced its cast along with a MySpace talent competition where the winner might appear in the film.

Briana Evigan, Robert Hoffman, Telisha Shaw and Adam G. Sevani will star, along with singer-model-actress Cassie, who will sing a song featured in the film and on the soundtrack.

Jon Chu will direct the sequel to the coming-of-age dance film. Set at the Maryland School of the Arts, the story follows revolves around dance student Patrick (Hoffman) and rebellious new student Andie (Evigan).

Building on "Dance in the Video, Be in the Movie" -- the user-generated contest for "Step Up" that appeared on MySpace before the first film's release -- Touchstone is holding a second competition. Aspiring singers and dancers are invited to upload audition tapes to the film's MySpace page. Entries will be viewed by the filmmakers, cast and choreographers of "Step Up 2," who will select a group of finalists. MySpace voters will determine the winners. Chosen dancers are expected to appear in the film either solo or with their dance crew, while the singer will record a track for the film's official soundtrack. Some entrants also might see their audition tape during the film's end credits.

"Step Up 2" reunites producers Patrick Wachsberger and Erik Feig of Summit Entertainment with Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot of Offspring Entertainment, who also produced the original "Step Up." Meredith Milton, David Nicksay and Anne Fletcher will executive produce. Returning to choreograph is Jamal Sims, who will be joined by Hi-Hat and Dave Scott. Devorah Herbert is the film's production designer, and Max Malkin will be serve as director of photography. Principal photography begins Monday in Baltimore.

"Step Up," directed by Fletcher and starring Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, grossed more than $65 million domestically and more than $50 million internationally last year.

Touchstone and Summit Entertainment are co-financing "Step Up 2," and Summit will distribute the film internationally. Kristin Burr and Todd Murata are the development execs for Touchstone.

Hoffman's credits include "You Got Served" and "She's the Man." He is repped by Pakula/King and Associates, and Handprint Entertainment.

Shaw is repped by Insomnia Media Group.

Stay tuned to Channing Tatum Unwrapped to get all of the scoop on 'Step Up 2: The Streets'. As a matter of fact, CTU has so much 'Step Up 2: The Streets' information that I am happy to say other websites are starting to use my site as a source. The latest example is a popular movie site called MovieHole.net that recently posted a story about the movie and used one of my articles on BlueDot.net as the source. Pretty cool! :-D

CTU IN THE NEWS: Channing Tatum and Channing Tatum Unwrapped Mentioned on ESPN.com

I am so excited, because I just found out that one of the writers for ESPN.com recently wrote an article on Channing Tatum and used one of my blog articles as a source.

The connection seemed really weird to me at first. My first thought was why would the #1 sports site in the world be quoting a fan site on an actor. Then I read the article and figured out what they were talking about.

I wrote an article called "Channing Tatum's Fun Football Facts" on Super Bowl Sunday this year and the writer pulled some of my info out of that article.

Here is a screen shot of the article:

Here is the text from the article:

DRESSED FOR ACTION

It's no surprise people.com recently anointed Channing Tatum — the acclaimed actor in "Drive," the 2002 Mountain Dew commercial — as one of the Internet's five "sexiest guys." I am looking at his photo now, in which he is wearing a black leather jacket over a tee shirt, while grabbing his belt with his left hand like he's adjusting his … uh … package.

Like many of us, Tatum revealed to people.com, he dreamed of being an athlete.

"The star of 'A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints' is a fave in chat rooms, where admirers dissect his 'beautiful flaws,' like his scars," the Web site reports.

"'There's one on my eyebrow from playing baseball,' he says. 'A ground ball jumped up and hit me in the face. That's all I'll tell you about my scars. I don't want to seem like a degenerate.'"

Tatum, who has modeled for Vogue and who is 6-foot-1, with green eyes and whose preferred grooming product is St. Ives Body Scrub, in fact won a full football scholarship to Glenville State College, a D-2 school in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

According to Channing Tatum Unwrapped, which claims to be "the No. 1 Channing Tatum fan blog," the Pioneers recruited the actor to play linebacker and defensive end. Tatum might have been one of the greats, had he not quit the team fall of his freshman year, shortly after two-a-day drills began. According to the blog, the practices took "a lot of the fun out of the game for him." Soon after, he dropped out of school to take the field for the Abercrombie & Fitch and Emporio Armani catalogs instead.

Yet Tatum has never forsaken his love of sports. Between photo shoots he runs along Miami Beach's South Beach to stay in shape, the fashion Web site, solis.com reports.

Personally, I'm hoping to catch Tatum July 8 at San Francisco's AT&T Park (24 Willie Mays Plaza, Web site), during major league baseball's 2007 All-Star Sunday. (Sold out. Consult StubHub! Buy tickets.) I'm rooting for him to earn another sexy scar while performing in the Celebrity Softball Game — cap by Abercrombie & Fitch, sunglasses by Nautica, uniform by Armani.

You can also check out the article yourself at ESPN.com. Hopefully this will be the first of many mentions of Channing Tatum Unwrapped in the established media. :-D
