Photog in Action

Again at the Chandler multicultural festival. I went with a photography club. We were all over the place snapping pictures. This is one member trying to get the perfect picture of one of the artists. The band playing was 'The Traveler's', very gypsy like and talented too.

It's been one month since our light rail opened. Here's some more public art. I love these arms.

Do you have any Super Bowl Tickets?

I went over to the Tempe training facility for the Super Bowl bound Cardinals in hopes of snapping a few shot of the field. What I saw was season ticket holders picking up their Super Bowl Tickets. And this guy. Offer lots of money for those tickets. I saw about 10 different folks trying to buy the tickets, but this guy had the cash for sure. Chihuly: The Nature of Glass

I love the Desert Botanical Garden and it's really cool to see it with this traveling show. For the next few months I'll show you other Chihuly works on the 25th.

It was around lunch time and not much traffic on the platform. There where about a dozen folks in the my train.

Someday light rail may come down to Chandler. But, that's not today. On the 6th, I took my first LR trip. Here's the ticket to prove I paid for my ride.
LR is on an honor system. No turnstiles or ticket takers.

On Sunday you saw the front entry for Gilbert Mercy. Today you get to see the inside of the rotunda.

At the Rock 'N' Roll Marathon and Half Marathon the finishers get a medal. These are just some of the medals for the half marathon event held yesterday.

Can you see the bi-plane? It was practicing approaches at Stellar Air Park, a place you can have a home on the runway with your own private hangar.

Taking Flight at Gila Springs

I run from my home about 4 miles west to Gila Springs, a subdivision with two beautiful lakes and a nice long running trail. This is a crane that didn't want anything to do with me.

The nice thing about being married to a quilter, is all the beautiful quilts hanging in our home.

This is a table runner my wife made for her brothers. I take her work for granite, but she does a great job and our home has several quilts hanging on the walls.

Dreamy Draw

This is the Dreamy Draw Bike Path. It's 2-3 miles long and borders the 51 in Phoenix. A great place if you want to bike, hike or run but don't want the uneven surfaces of a desert trail.

Time for a Run?

The path that you'll see as you are driving along the 202, just east of the Santan Village. It runs from Ray Road east for about 3 miles. The sound walls keep the highway noise to a minimum. There's concrete for walking or biking. Crushed stone for running or for your horse.

A Bench?

Lately I've seen a lot of walls and posts made this way. But, I'm not too sure it's the most confortable bench. This was on a walking/jogging path along the 202 in Chandler.

Winding Roads

The signage at Santan Motorplex is of winding roads. Kinda neat, I think.

A unique home

Take three old silos, puts some windows and doors and connections and you have a home. This home is in Gilbert and is truly one of the more unique homes around. It's on Pecos, just east of Trapeze U.

trapeze U?

As you are driving down Pecos Road in Gilbert, what do you see but Trapeze U. I haven't seen it in action, but it does stick out. Check out the link to see people flying everywhere.

He could use the knot.

This sign wasn't too far from the knot in the wall. Just a random coincidence.

Peeping Tom?

I saw this knot in the wall and thought I'd take a shot. I didn't realize until I got home that it was lined up with the neighbors window. The hole was a natural knot in the wood and wasn't done by design.

Theme Day: Photo of the Year

2008 was the first year for this blog and out of all the photos I displayed, I liked this one best. It is at the entrance to Leisure World, a retirement community near Chandler, in Mesa.
