I am finding I can wear capris or shorts every day now, yippee !  That is one wonderful thing about this time of year.

and I don't mean that in a good way !!  I rarely use it, but stuck my neck out

The twist this week is Girlfriends !

When I chose the sentiment I was thinking about my BF Rufina.

Once a waitress told us that she could tell we had known each other for a long long time !

Yup, we have been best friends since we met 26 years ago.  Old conversations weave in and out of our time together, we have supported one another through a lot.

Isn't it great to have that BF who never needs an explanation.

When we got so old we were starting to think about grandkids, we both had boys, born 6 weeks apart.

It was pretty darned fun (and still is !) being Grandmothers together.

A busy holiday, for sure.

But, today I am back with a card for two different challenges ...

Here is my card for today ...

We had Spencer all weekend as his mom and dad were playing in a couples golf tournament.  (which they won, yippee !)  We took him to a dog show, that was all about agility.  Spencer's dog, Patches,  is part border collie, and pretty darned high strung.  Spencer said he was going to try to train him, but

"the hardest part would be getting him to sit on a table without moving for 5 seconds."

Spencer got a little goody bag at the door that had about three doggy treats in it, which he thought would be sufficient to train Patches over 10 weeks.

We had a lot of fun all weekend, including, of course, one game of Monopoly.  

We sprung the news that we were all going to go to Disneyworld in the winter, that was some pretty exciting news for him !!

is that I always have a fresh Spencer story.

Here is my card ...

Yesterday I was reading to Spencer a book about Lemony Snicket and his

"detective" cases ...

and there was an English word I knew he wouldn't be familiar with.

So, I stopped reading, and gave him an American version of the word.

Then I said

When I was a little girl living in Canada, we used different words too.  Like, we said "dust bin" instead of "garbage can".

And he said

When I was a little boy living in France, we used different words too.  Like, we said

But I tickled him so we will never know what those words were.

He has always had a preoccupation with France, and the Eiffel Tower.  He says he is going to go to France so he can see it !!

Ooo La La

6 year old boys are a riot.

Warm and sunny today, hard to believe we are not in the full months of summer !  Usually it is rain rain rain until July.

Dom and Spencer got their "crops" planted in the raised bed over the weekend.  We will be looking forward to a lot of great vegetables !

Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 !

I haven't played here before, but I sure liked the sketch !!

I don't make enough square cards.

Here is my card  ...

and I fit a little tag in there ...

for those of us who lived through the Vietnam war ...

Mother's Day is tomorrow, and a few years ago I was stopped by a television reporter who asked me "What do you want for Mother's Day ?"

When I said world peace, he looked at me so strangely and asked

"why is that ?"

I am hoping he only asked that to expand on my thoughts, but being he was young and a guy I am not certain, and I said

"that is what all mothers want."

When I was a teen and in my 20's, our boys were subject to the draft.  If you haven't known a draft, it was a pretty terrible way of selecting who America would send to war.  And what many felt, was into a war for absolutely nothing.  We lost nearly 60,000 boys and men, their average age was 19.  The ones who came back often fell to drugs, alcohol and post traumatic stress. 

I am hoping peace is still what mothers really want.  

Peace for all our sons and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends and girlfriends.  And all of those in uniform who are in unfriendly territories.

Isn't it odd, how after you have hoarded one piece of paper, you have trouble bringing it all together in the end.  That is how I felt about the bird paper.  Then I ended up with some pretty dull paper to go with it !  Well, live and learn, huh.  Not always the greatest cards on my blog, but I try to post the more boring ones along with the good ones.  (I pretend I am bringing encouragement to newbies, lol)
