AGSV Finals - SECOND!

Congratulations to all those involved in the AGSV Finals at Olympic Park. Camberwell finished second, its best result since winning in 1980. There were 10 Golds, 11 Silvers and 16 Bronze medal performances, plus a multitude of personal bests and outstanding individual efforts. Relay results of two 1sts, two 3rds, a 4th and 5th was a particularly fitting way to cap off a great day.

Overall Standings
  1. Trinity 504
  2. Camberwell 455
  3. Peninsula 442
  4. Ivanhoe 418.5
  5. PEGS 405
  6. Yarra Valley 374
  7. Mentone 287
  8. Marcellin 256.5
  9. Assumption 255
Let's go one better in 2009!

CGS Track & Field Championships

Full Results
It's Olympic time, so to celebrate the events taking place in Beijing, CGS Track & Field Championships were held at Box Hill Aths Track on Saturday August 16th.
Congratulations to all those involved, especially those who tried new and challenged themselves over longer distances and multiple events.
We had several multiple gold medal winners including Michael Lane U13, Sam Cooke U14, Lewis Vitsenzatos U15, Terrence Lo U16, Hans Leung U17 and Josh Mapperson OP.
It was also exciting to see new faces: Aqshai Patel, Brendan Clark, Tom Stayner and Chris Waller all competed strongly.
Well done also to Tony Pasalidis and Jan Uwland, who competed in more events than anyone else!
AGSV Finals are on Sept 10 - but with further trials at Burwood (30/8) and Doncaster (6/9), there is still plenty of time to earn a place in the Finals Team.

2008 Season - Are you ready?

Remember this? The 2007 Team... 3rd in the AGSV.

Hello and welcome to the 2008 Athletics season. With the added inspiration of an Olympic Year, we look forward to some great AGSV competition, culminating in the Finals on September 10th.

That may seem like a long time away, but there are precious few training weeks available to us, so it's important that you get started on your training ASAP.

With the 2008 Aths Season compressed into Term 3, it becomes crucial for Distance runners to start getting some kilometres into their legs, Sprinters to get into the gym and Field athletes to start working on their technique. By the time the trial meets arrive we will need to be making preliminary team selections, so the sooner you post a time, distance or height the better.

As always, the CGS coaching staff will be there to support and guide you along the way, so don't hesitate to ask for training advice.

Most importantly, remember that athletics will only give you what you are prepared to work for. Are you up for the challenge?
