Mmm long post.

Happy Event #1
Class party yesterday :D

Yenlin's house is huge haha. And super duper nice.

She has a nice piano, I like the sound :)

Contrary to Charlotte's statistics, I believe 20 people turned up.

Most of the time was spent playing mahjong. I wonder who won.. as usual x)

Happy Event #2
I ate a lot yesterday :)

I ate a lot today as well. 6 meals again haha. And 2 of the meals include Macs and KFC.

Operation Get Fat is looking good.

Happy Event #3
Most of yesterday was spent doing spring cleaning. My messy table is gone :D

Here's how the clearing process went:

Category 1: Rubbish
Things in this category are to be thrown away, which include paper which has been written on both sides, random wrappers of bars/sweets, and stationary or equipment that cannot function anymore (half of them are the by-product of my composition and experimentation)

Category 2: Rough Paper
Things in this category are to be placed in one nice stack to be used for doing Math/random doodling in the future. They include useless pieces of paper which is only filled on one side, majority of which include PW and Chinese worksheets.

Category 3: Useful paper
These include paper which are blank on both sides. Mostly manuscript paper, foolscap paper, and A4 blank paper.

Category 4: Sentimental stuffs
Things in this category include the cookie monster I got from my birthday cake, Shanin's bookmark, my notes from friends and classmates (mount ophir, civics lessons, and a few special ones), packed nicely into the muffin box that Laiweng gave me and has my name on it :D

Category 5: Academic stuffs
Basically all the useful worksheets which we have done for the past year, and will be requiring them next year.

Sad event D:
I'm typing from my laptop now, because my computer will be hibernating for winter in the lonely corner of my mum's room. For some people like Kenneth, computer games can help them preserve their sanity. But unfortunately, its driving my mum insane.

I just did a thorough check of the com two days ago and found out that my bro has been playing lots of games, like DotA, Maple, Plants vs Zombies, and some which I don't even know. His L1R5 for sec 3 is >20 points, and my mum's going nuts because next year is his O-level year and at this rate he can't even make it into poly. So bye bye com.

I will be blogging lesser from now on, since my sis' A levels are over and she hogs the laptop 20 hours a day watching korean and jap drama serials, which I don't see the point when she doesn't even understand what the heck they are speaking. But I shall still promise a post at least once a week, but that also means my blog posts will be about the length of benni i guess.

Cya!

Slept at 5am yesterday x) The latest I've slept since 4D class chalet last year.

At least H3 is over... for now.

H3 essay lesson #1:
Nothing to say equals to something to say

:)

It's a really useful method.

Come on Hong Rui, h3ll will be over in less than 10 hours.

I spent the whole day yesterday playing Risk T_T One of the games were particularly memorable.

Here's how it goes:
You have 5 players playing passively. In the early game, each player occupies a continent. From mid game onwards, this is what each turn comprises:
1) Receive your reinforcements
2) Plant the reinforcements
3) Attack 1 territory (99% of the time that territory will consist of only 1 noob soldier)
4) Conquer that territory
5) Retreat all your armies back to your original territory
6) Receive a card

Take step 1 to 6 and multiply that by 32817289571829731... At the end of the game, each of us had like 300 armies each, and each card trade is 50 armies. Since Facebook doesn't have a cap of 25 soldiers per territory unlike normal Risk, you can easily have 300 armies in one territory. At this point in time, going head on against a player will easily mean death for both of you, and everyone is just sitting around waiting for someone to launch a suicide attack against someone else. What's that Chinese proverb called? 鹤蚌相争,渔翁得利 x)

That's when one of the players announced:
"I think we have achieved peace, fellas"

Here's a picture (not very clear though)
Really, there wasn't much point playing on. So in the end, we compared our current points and found out that I have the least. So everyone quitted game and I got all the points :)

Haha world peace ftw :D

PS: I miss playing Mission Risk and Capital Risk ): (Facebook Risk is all about world domination). And most of all, I miss playing Risk with real humans D: I can't remember when was the last time I did that..

In response to Dennis' tag, I feel that everyone has their own intrinsic style of writing that is part of them :)

By seeing how Charlotte numbers her points in her blog posts, you can tell that she's a very organized person. You can tell from Benni's writing that he's someone who thinks and observes a lot. Kenneth's posts has his own unique sense of wit that is very hard to replicate. Jon Shin's blog shows his own imaginative character and natural flair at story-telling :) Jinghui has matured from incessant flaming into more emotional posts and you can see that he treasures friends a lot. Dennis infrequent posts shows that he's a very busy man x)

On a side note, I cannot believe I did not find Xue Wen's blog until today. That shows me how out of touch I have been with this awesome friend of mine. I don't even think I have been to his house this year yet D: JC life detaches people. I miss primary school life ):

Xuewen's blog has his own style of wit, humour and reflective insights. Kind of like a combination between Jonshin's story telling, Kenneth's wit, and Jingxian's philosophical musings, and produced in a natural manner that is uniquely xuewen's :) I can't believe I just spent like the past 1.5 hours reading all his blog posts from the very first in july until now. But that 1.5 hours really made my day.

You can really tell that Xuewen is a very optimistic person :) Not one of his blog posts consists of rants that shows immense hatred towards a particular incident or person, and his optimism will just brush off you. I laughed a lot reading his posts haha.

It's really worth a read, i think everyone should go visit it :)

Here's a short snippet:
K is for Kennethkohiness. Someone who is feeling very Kennethkohy might behave like Kenneth Koh. Surprise! One that is in the mood for some reason and logic could be said to be Kennethkohy. In that way, there is a faction of word studiers that say that Kennethkohiness is a mental state rather than an emotion. Another faction of word studiers say that this word does not even exist. In interest of reason and logic, one feeling Kennethkohy might appear to be highly critical of both people and situations, as one would tend to over-analyse things when under this emotion. Thus, he would often appear either very loving or Ruthless.

PS:
With the URL perfectspelling.blogspot.com, xuewen's blog maintains a rather high standard of English compared to most other blogs, but i still found at least 10 spelling errors while reading the entire blog x)

Mrs Ilano is the most awesome cello teacher ever :D

Today's lesson was productive :)
Mrs Ilano: Play your open strings
Me: *plays open strings*
Mrs Ilano: Ah, I see that you've finally practised your cello x)

Haha I really admire her experience and vision. Indeed, I haven't practised my cello for quite a long time cos of Chinese A-levels and OP, and I've been smoking through my previous lessons. But 4 hours yesterday and another 3 hours today made me reconnect with my cello again :) and Mrs Ilano could tell that just by the tone of the open strings.

One day during cello lesson a few months back..
Mrs Ilano: Hong Rui, stop playing.
Me: Yeah?
Mrs Ilano: Do you know something? Your right arm is longer than your left.
Me: O.o Are you serious? I don't believe it. *puts down cello and straighten out both arms*
Me: OMG.

Yeah my right arm is longer than my left arm by around half a cm >_< and I had to have someone else point that out to me. I have lived 17 years of my life in vain.

Another one..
Mrs Ilano: Hong Rui, stop playing. I have finally realised why you can never hit that note properly.
Me: Ok must be my posture again right?
Mrs Ilano: No, its your fingerboard. Your fingerboard is not shaved properly. There's a slight bulge on that particular note which you're trying to hit, that's why you always slide over it and play it sharp.
Me: O.o

Then we spent 5 minutes analyzing my cello from all sorts of angles and using all kinds of rulers. Turns out that she's right again x)

Lesson before my promos practical exam..
Mrs Ilano: Hong Rui, what time is your exam?
Hong Rui: Hmm, if i don't remember wrongly, it should be 9:50.

On the day of promos prac..
9:30. Sms from Mrs Ilano: "All the best! Play Well! :) "
10:30. "How did it go? :) "

So awesome right? I secretly call her Grandma Ilano because she's just so caring! :D She's like half the reason why I want to be a music teacher next time too! :)

Haha and today she just saved me another $50 from my music H3 by loaning me her awesome book on Bach cello suites. It's like brand new!
Mrs Ilano: "Haha I tried reading them, but I fell asleep halfway through it x) After you finish reading the book, teach me okay? :)"

Let's end off with one last final encounter. 3 weeks ago.
Mrs Ilano: Hong Rui, stop playing. I can see that there's something wrong with your right thumb. It's very rigid, are you experiencing any pain?"
Me: Yeah D: I don't know why.
Mrs Ilano: Yes you do, you must have been doing something to it. Stop doing whatever has been causing you that pain.

And so, today marks the 21st day since I last played Lumines on my phone. Unlike my rubik's cube, which I threw away to stop myself from playing it, Lumines cannot be deleted from my darn phone. But I swear I won't play it again, for my cello playing's sake, and for Mrs Ilano :)

Awesome teachers ftw ^_^

It's rare to see me blog 3 times a day, but i'm quite bored.

Anw, I just found something awesome on the Facebook Scramble. "Brent" is a word :)

x)

people are giving out yellow flowers today to thank each other :)

I don't have a yellow flower for you, but TingFang, I still want to thank you for being an awesome pw group leader :) It's hard to do pw properly when every time I go online and i see a msn nick saying "i hate pw" but still, we all pulled through, and its been a memorable 9 months. x) Thanks for being a wonderful leader and doing soooo much work, while taking care of all of us and putting up with our crazy antics. I know you don't exactly like PW, but don't hate us okay? :)

I think I kinda miss pw x) It's like NS, while you're in it, you think it sucks and can't wait for it to be over, but when its over, you look back at it, and you find that it is actually fun. The pw meetings, late night msn convos, group item preparation, hilarious acting and our horrible singing xD the entire process, however tiring and miserable at times, has actually been rather memorable.

Oh well, pw is over. H3 is officially starting. Its time to be J2s.

Bon told an epic joke today :D

Q: Where will you find Kenneth having sex?
A: On the roof

6:30am, on my dad's car.
Sis: Oh shit, I forgot to bring my handphone!
Me: Haha you noob!
Dad: HongRui, don't be mean.

6:50am, my dad's car is nearing the RJ campus, I decided to take out my phone to ask TingFang where we meet.
Me: Oh freak! I forgot to bring my phone!
Sis: HAHA YOU NOOB!
Dad: *smiles*

-.-

PW today was okay, it didn't go that smoothly, but it didn't go too badly too.

After PW, 7 of us went to eat at the Longhouse at Thompson and then went lanning after that, with the inclusion of Brent, Trachsel and Weisheng. This was like the first time I played com games after over a year..

The lan shop at Novena remains my favourite lan shops because it has lights and transparent walls :D I can't stand dark rooms and you just keep staring at one lighted screen for a few hours. Shangxuan couldn't take it after like an hour, Mark and I ended the lan session with a throbbing headache.

Team Fortress 2 was cute :) Dota brings back awesome memories with a 5-0 kill death score. CS wasn't that fun, and I just absolutely cannot stand Left 4 Dead.

The next time I play com games again will be after A levels :)

The butterflies started at 5pm, but it ended by 6. I didn't say anything during dinner, but I ate 5/4 of what I usually eat.

:D

Tomorrow's going to be an awesome day. I'm ready, bring it on.

PS: For once, I didn't bang my head on TingFang's gate today x) That's a good sign.

I was sitting on the train playing Sudoku on the phone.

The train reached Bishan, Jingxian enters and sat down beside me.

HR: Hey hi. Wah why so early?
JX: *Shrugs* Cos Charlotte told me to come at 1:30
HR: Haha okay..
JX: Hey do you know Charlotte is on the same train? She's at the end of this carriage.
HR: Haha you seem to pay particular attention to her hor? x)
JX: I can't help it.

xD

Haha after reading Charlotte's latest post on the birthday songs and listening to Shanin's original birthday song composition, I seriously think Shanin can be the next Victor Borge :)

Shanin! you should try a career in that path haha :D

Anyone who wants to listen Shanin's compo just tag x)

This is why I love weekdays and hate weekends.

Monday 9th November
7:30AM
Sandwich (3 slices of bread, with cheese, a super big piece of ham, and 3 slices of tomatoes)

11:45AM
Another sandwich (same composition)

12:15PM
Rice dumpling (courtesy of TingFang)

1:30PM
1 slice of Papaya (actually 2 x half slices) walaoeh the stall vendor scam my money. In the past 1 slice cost 30cents, now half a slice cost 30cent :@

3:30PM
Sandwich again (I have infinite supplies in my bag ^_^) + 2 siew mai and 1 ice lemon tea

6:30PM
2 awesome BBQ chicken wings. 1 hard boiled egg. 1 hotdog bun. 1 cup of soya bean

8:30PM
Dinner; Rice, Veg, Chicken, Fish, Pork, Soup :)

On weekends, I eat 3 meals a day. Between each meal, I would starve, and then gorge myself with obscene helpings and feel full for another 3 hours, after that my stomach will groan non-stop again

On weekdays, I eat an average of 6 meals a day :) Then at the end of the day, Hong Rui is a nice happy boy :D The only thing I didn't like today is from 7:30 to 11:45. Omg that's like over 4 hours. I was starving throughout the mrt ride to school. Haiz, I should have started eating the moment we left TingFang's house. But nvm, her rice dumpling was awesome :D

PS: Today was like the 5th time I went to TingFang's house I think. And each time I would bang my head on her gate without fail. Sigh, I can still feel that bruise on my head

Big breakfast:
800g calories
52g fat

Big Mac:
520g calories
30g fat

McFlurry:
620g calories
20g fat

Haha I think I should try eating Macs someday :) It seriously the best way to meet may daily calorie intake.

Okay anw Dennis and all readers out there, here's how you combat the Mac calories attack.
1) Just eat the burger
2) Don't eat the fries (these are the worse)
3) Don't drink the coke or any cold drink. Drink something warm. Maybe go to Mr. Bean and order a hot soya bean or something. By drinking something hot, the fats that you have just consumed will sort of "melt" and get dissolved. But if you drink something cold like coke, it will solidify and store as body fat. Same reason why Americans who drink Coke or milk are so fat but Chinese who drink soup and tea are thin.
4) If you have supplements like Fish Oils, take them with this meal. The saturated fat and omega 3 acids can help to combat the trans fat and still help you maintain a good cardiovascular system.

That's all folks :)

Friday, November 6, 2009

Haha I just had a talk with my distant cousin who's a doctor. We had a long convo, and he instructed that from now on, one of my meals daily should be a fast food like Macs.

He assured me that I'll be fine.

I rather skeptical about this idea, but I just went on the weighing scale again and realised that I'm back to 58kg. Sigh, but when you have such a stubborn body, maybe it is worth a try.

Tuesday, November 3, 2009

I just spent one hour playing nothing but a 2-octave C major scale.

I feel accomplished :)

Really.

Paul Erhard might just be another turning point in my life.

Chinese Paper was great :)
