Bring it on!

Been quite busy/lazy these few days xD

Anw, cello lessons with Mrs Ilano are super inspiring! I'm like practising cello for at least 2 hours a day now, and at least 20 minutes at the start will be used for playing just open strings, followed by a whole series of etudes and simple exercises, before I start playing pieces (which mainly consists of Bach at the moment xD)

My hols are like packed like sardines >.<

Due to my irresponsible behavior of sleeping/playing tetris/playing lumines/daydreaming/talking/eating for every single lecture and tutorial (except music) for the whole of term 2, I'm currently lagging like !@$#^*&% in academics now.

For math, I'm abnormal, because I'm still at normal distribution
For chem, I haven't even finished stochio yet, and I haven't even read thru half the atomic structure lecture notes T_T
For physics, I can barely understand measurements, and thermal onwards is just a blurrr to me..

Ugh.

So I have like so many many many things to mug!!!

Agenda:
1. MUG
2. MUG
3. MUG
4a. Practise Cello at least 2 hours everyday.
4b. And I'm involved in 7 ensembles for MEP common test, so let's add another hour or so
5. Practise piano for piano ensem competition 'Vivace'!
6. MUG
7. MUG
8. MUG

Eh all you MEPpers who are reading this now and are using my services (and I've yet to charge you xD) better inform me about Ensem rehearsals ASAP okay. My holidays are getting eaten up by random gatherings, and MEP orchestra and piano ensem rehearsals already, so I hardly have time even to myself...

T_T
Jiayou, I can do it.

After over 4 years with my beloved cello teacher, I'm finally getting a change.

The reason I'm leaving is because I don't think I can depend on him anymore.
He doesn't have a proper lesson plan in mind, and at J1, I still get the feeling that he treats me like his primary/secondary school kids.
Under him, playing notes is enough, maybe a little expression here and there, but shaky intonation is still okay.
I can play the entire piece rather out of tune and he doesn't say anything..
I need a teacher who can scold me and keep me on the right track, who seeks perfection as much as I do.
Well, basically, I feel that I've outgrown his teaching style. After I finished grade 8, he doesn't seem to have any plans of what's going on anymore.. It's like all his students stopped at grade 8 or smth

But still, it has been a great 4 years, and even though sometimes I really do feel super flustered and pissed with him sometimes, he has still done a lot for me all these years.
I wouldn't have gotten a grade 8 distinction within 3.5 years if not because of him..
(Hmm maybe another teacher could also do the same, but that's not the real point haha)

Yup, so thanks Mr. Lee! To be frank, I think I'll miss you..
(Aw.. . ><)

Anw, my new teacher is Mrs Ilano.
I've already called her last week, after Mrs Chee recommended her to me, and she's agreeable to teaching me.
I should meet her sometime this week.
And her fees is like 225% of my previous cello fees O.o
But suprisingly my mum relented, and supported me.
I guess she knows how much I want to excel in the cello and go into music in the future
She's a bit like YTYT lah haha xD, she's has our best interests at heart, but the method of expression is rather screwed and sometimes easily misunderstood.
Yep thanks mum. (:

Hehe and I'm also getting my first cello student soon! (:
He's sec 1 this year, and learning cello from scratch.
Basics are the hardest to teach lah, I'm a personal real-life example with screwed foundations, but I'll make sure my student would never be like me.
Haha and I'm already picking books from Esplanade on learning and teaching cello!
I don't really care how much the music school pays me.. money isn't important, I teach to spread the art of cello playing and the love of music and not for the cash.
Lessons should start weekly from June onwards..
And if things goes on smoothly, the intake might increase.. there are a few other interested participants too (:

And yes, I rmbred yesterday during Council investiture, the Guest of Honour said something that kinda struck me.
Dream big.
Nothing is impossible.
I'm going to start learning under the ex-SSO principal cellist in a few days time, and perhaps I can move on to the present principal cellist next time, and I would be the future principal cellist.
I was the only upper secondary guy who didn't went with RISE to Carnegie hall..., but I'll be back. As a soloist.
Dream big.
=D

Yesterday there was Chamber, and because SYF was over, we didn't have rehearsals but played games instead.

Hmm to be honest, I didn't think they were really fun ): I definitely enjoyed the company, but at the end of it, I actually felt quite lousy T_T

No, it's not the games fault. I think it's just me.

First Station: block A.
Task: Composition, word-setting

Simple task right? In MEP we have been doing things like that since sec 2. But yesterday I just felt lost.

6 lines of a poem, we were supposed to do 3 lines each.
But I was watching Ying Er do the composition practically all by herself, and the whole time I just couldn't write anything at all. I simply didn't know how to start.

It's not because of a lack of inspiration, I know clearly myself it's a void in my ability.
What am I doing in Music?
I even thought of doing Composing major at the end of the year, but perhaps I'm not up to it.
Should I have even appealed when I failed the placement test the first time?
Listening, Practical, Composing, Harmony, Analysis.
I'm like at the bottom of the class in all aspects..
I have nothing to justify my position in music class.
Nothing.. except for my passion.
But how far can it bring me?

Hmm past few days have been quite fun (:

Chamber outing on Labour Day has been fun. Hmm Adriel didn't want to go down at first, lucky I managed to persuade him and drag him down haha (: but condition was that I go back to RI and play soccer with the RISE guys again :)

So we arrived at Marina Barrage after noon, but at least there was still quite a lot of fun going on (: and so we didn't miss a lot.

Then Tuesday was Choir SYF, today was Band and Chinese Orch SYF.
Hmm all got gold lah, definitely got a number of dissapointed people, but I'm still proud of all my friends and I know that they have done well (:

Yeah and today was Chamber elections.
Haha I got librarian! I'm quite surprised lah. I'm glad that I got into the EXCO, but librarian still came as a surprise to me (: But as Kristie has said, all the members of the ExCO will play a part in the decision making process, so I'll still be very active in this CCA that I really love, and not just be sorting the scores and nothing else.

Haha I love Dr. Gooi's definition of ExCO.
"In this CCA [Piano Ensem], there is no heirachy. Everyone is equal, and so being in the ExCO is like the opposite of Spiderman. It's not with great power comes great responsibilty. You get the responsibility part, but not the power xD"

Yeap, I treat everyone in my CCA as my peers and my friends. I hope I work well with the new ExCO! (= I love all my friends in Chamber. So being in the ExCO doesn't mean any form of ranking, we're going to emerge from CHAMBER (yes chamber) as really good brothers and sisters (:

[Hmm maybe brothers/sisters is not an appropriate way to describe Ben Wee and Tryphee xD]

Haha and Shanin thinks Dr. Gooi looks like a Chershire cat :D
