Bring it on!

Friday was SNYO concert. It was certainly a bang. The last piece absolutely rocks, with the orchestra in full bloom, with the pipe organ and everything. That kind of feeling really stirs up the emotion in people and leaves behind a ringing ecstasy etched in their minds. If us audience can feel it, I'm sure the performers themselves must have been super elated at that time.

I've felt this "ringing ecstasy" feeling before in several occasions. As a performer I got it twice during this year's RISE concert, during the William Tel and during the Britten finale. You know the kind of feeling that makes people play furiously with their heads held high with pride with happiness rushing throughout their body. It rocks man =D As an audience, I think I experienced it during this SNYO concert and also during the choir concert finale, where they sang "Can you hear the people sing."

Aw.. but shucks, that ownage feeling, it's so much better than when you're in it than when you're watching it. I can give an absolutely sick analogy, but I think most people know what I'm going to talk about so I shall give it a pass.

I shall brush up my skills during this holiday, and try to finish learning and perfect my Haydn Cello Concerto in C 1st Movement by the January SNYO audition next year!! I want to get in!!! =D

Holiday Job at RI just ended. Aw... :(

The work experience was.. non-existent. Actually its negative, because it gave you room to slack so much that I am gradually used to thinking all jobs are so slack too.

The pay was.. good :) Above average lah. So far I haven't found a holiday job that matches or exceed the current pay of $6.50/hr. (Other than my sister's one which pays $50/day >.<)

The colleagues were.. great =D Lots of fun among all of us, and I got to know people like M***her-W**her and Patrick better. Lots of jokes, chit-chat, no-link randomness, bridge, hearts <3, and soccer yay.

Haha people pay you $6.50/hour for you to play bridge and soccer, where else in Singapore can you find this kind of job. Basically there are only throughout that 5++ hours, there are only 3 short periods where we needed to get our ass up and moving, and the rest of the time we will just stone in our "headquarters" and play (or go RJ and play soccer.)

And I had a 100% soccer winning streak for all games until the final 10-min game today where I totally burned-out and had no energy to run. Then my team got trashed 1-5, until I got fed up with passing and dribbling, and just shot the ball, which olay-ed Patrick the Pro goalkeeper and ended the game.

At least I score an average of at least 3 goals a game during these 4 (actually 3) days, where we saw a constant upgrade in the ball (from tennis ball, mini-ball, to full soccer ball) and venue (but I still prefer RJ atrium best).

I'm taking up another typing job by the same organizer next week, hopefully the pay is the same (or more) =DD and the computers given have Internet on it so that I can Alt-Tab frequently between facebook/blogger/youtube/etc.. and the Excel sheet.

Holiday Job ftw! =D

Jon Shin
1. RISE, MEP, Soccer. 12-5 =D
2. Hey Jude

Yesterday I saw this on laiweng's blog..

Leave a comment here and I'll..

1. Tell you why I befriended you.
2. Associate you with a song / movie.
3. Tell a random fact about you.
4. Tell a first memory about you.
5. Associate you with an animal / fruit.
6. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
7. In return, you must post this in your own LJ blog.

Yeah and so out of curiosity, I tagged.

And here's the response -.-

1. Cos if I don't you might bully me the next CSCO practice we meet. D:
2. HAHA UNFORTUNATELY I'LL HAVE TO SKIP THIS FOR EVERYONE DUE TO MY EXTREME LACK OF KNOWLEDGE IN THIS AREA.
3. You are damn skinny. Fweak.
4. RUBIK'S CUBE LA WHAT ELSE. Whole bunch of us sitting at the (now closed down) cafe. You were in RI uniform. Yes. Then you and Fukang spammed Rubik's Cube TO THE DELIGHTED SQUEALS OF GIRLS ALL AROUND. (Not me though. :D)
5. This is tough la. -.- Uh, Stick insect la I don't know.
6. Are you really 180cm? -.-

PS PLEASE DON'T KILL ME AFTER THIS.

-.-

#1 is irrelevant >.< I'll never bully people. 99% of the time I'm the one getting bullied
#2 -NA-
#3 Ok fine, point accepted. I am skinny, true.
#4 Wtheck!?! I was like how slow last time lor, I think I did like average 2.5 minutes to 3 minutes or something that >< Oh wow -.-''' I'm flattered, but I don't remember that cafe at all, nor what happened at that time.
#5 -.-''' Even a giraffe might be better. Thanks a lot a lot man. >.<'
#6 I am >.< Just that I slouch 80% of the time, and I hunch my back 70% of the time also. Actually there are only 5 cases where I don't slouch or hunch.
-1- When I'm playing the piano
-2- When I'm playing the cello
-3- When I'm about to walk up to the stage to receive something nice =D
-4- When I'm taking height and weight measurements =DDDDD Then everyone will go like, wah hongrui suddenly so tall -.-
-5- When jonshin wants to pick up a fight and I stand up to suan him.

Oh speaking of fights, I just recalled something.
"Oi you not happy isit?"
"Yeah not happy"
"What, want to fight isit?"
"Yeah fight lah. Scared of you meh."
"Hmmpffh"
"Hmmpffh"
"Scissors... Paper... Stone..."
-.-
Yeah typical 4D/RISE/MEP fight >.<

I don't think I'll kill you laiweng, I'm far too nice for that >.<

Anyone who wants to hear my own perception of you can just tag on the tagboard on the right..

Thursday was class chalet. It's quite a fun one, but I didn't do anything physical at all T.T It was raining most of the time, so we were just stoning in the rooms and playing mahjong and cards

Nevertheless, thanks Dennis for organizing this chalet and ponning his OIP and being such a motherly figure in these 2 days and taking care of everything thats going on =D

I probably won't be blogging much during these hols now. My mum found out that my bro plays computer games at home when everyone else is out (which happens like 90% of the time), and being such a Anti-computer games person, she got pissed and removed the whole CPU and shut it up in her room.

Tada, so no more CPU, no more com, I'm just blogging from library now using my laptop. But then again, such chances are rare, so I will probably be going back to my previous rate of 1 post a month T.T

Bye for now! I'm just engrossing myself in books, tv, and cello/piano playing (in decreasing order ><)

Monday, November 10, 2008

Thursday was our final MEP Concert in the 4 years. Went quite well, although the eMCees were quite phail lol >< I'm sure they loop one big round then end up with an anticlimatic joke. T.T

I realised I fell in love with Chopin's Opus 10, Etude No. 3!! I played it on the cello last year with CSCO in the 3rd encore piece, but I didn't know which piece it was until Thursday. OMG <3 If its aint too difficult, I think I'm super interested in learning it for my ATCL cos its something that I know I will willingly sit down and practice =D

Finale was okay, Hey Jude was quite screwed once more.

I miss RIMEP! <3

Friday was Grad Ceremony, followed by CCA lanning, and after like 3 months++ of not touching DotA, I got owned quite terribly as always. But still, its quite fun =D

Saturday was the Spring Cleaning of my house, and OMG spring cleaning my super duper uber messy room must be the most tedious thing in the world to do. Haha it least its now super neat and clean =DDD Yay

Sunday was Grad Nite! <3

For $65 dollars, the food was quite lousy >< Cold dish was average, Soup was good, Prawns looked good but tasted otherwise, Chicken was quite good, the Vege in the Yam Ring was quite ugh.. Fish was nice but pathetic in proportion, Noodles was okay, Dessert was not bad.

But still, Grad Nite rocks! =DD

Haha our Class won 2 awards, Samuel being the most-muscular guy, and Zong Yi being the most-handsome guy. The way Andrew and Bryan dragged them up was super funny rofl. Crap I shouted until I'm kinda out of voice now. And Kenneth won the lucky draw to get a $20 Borders book voucher, making 4D the class with the most wins that nite (:

XD made the whole batch go crazy, and the waiters and waitresses were like omg wtheck!?! But as usual Jon Shin was too short to be seen (and heard) *muahaha* =P

Our ending Unite cheer was the best one in the 4 years! Finally there was no screaming after every line. And the ground sorta trembled beneath our feet, haha so cool. Samuel was like pretending to be a waitress and call for security ><

Lots of photos were taken, 4D'08 and even 2J'06 haha (As usual, there was no RISE photo DD= ) 2J'06 really felt super weird. And oh, Shawn Sim looked like Mr. Bean, no seriously ;P

But nevertheless,

Raffles batch of '08, RISE'08, 4D'08, 2J'06 and MEP'08! You guys are da rock! <33333

--------------------------

On a more serious note, I just decided my subject combination after days and hours of torture and comtemplation.

P.C.M.M

And then in terms of decreasing preference, PEMM, CEMM and PCME.

Let's go, RJC!
ok fine RIJC ugh ><

Chinese Os are over.

I'm freaking pissed with myself right now.

Paper 1 is currently either do or die. I wrote 3 pages + 1 line for Qn 1, and then 4.5 pages for Qn 5. I feel weird about the 报章报道 now, the question was quite screwed, and I think I wrote out of topic. If I actually wrote correctly, I think I should score quite well, but if I wrote out of point, then there goes my zuowen.

Paper 2 is the !@#$%&*(^)(*#@&T@#^!

For paper 1, I basically just chionged right at the start, so I manged to write a bit more than I thought I will. Then for paper 2, I took my own sweet time at the start, and found that with 45 minutes left, I still had the last compre and summary to do.

Yeah, so I panicked, and wrote slip-shot answers for the whole comprehension, and then rushed on to the summary. Seconds after I completed my last sentence the teacher announced the end of the paper. Then I tooked Andrew's question booklet to go through and realised that my summary is freaking screwed.

I didn't read the question properly due to my haste, and I ONLY SUMMARISED PARAGRAPH 2.

As you all know, the summary's language mark is based on the content mark, since my content marked is halved, the maximum language mark that I can get is half too, so basically I'll probably fail that summary component.

Damn it.
I hate myself.
I hate my screwed-up time management.
I hate the fact that I could only start studying Chinese wholeheartedly 3 days before the exam.
I hate the fact that I don't even make good use of those 3 days.
I hate the fact that I am so out of practise.
Damn it.

If I get A1, I must be dreaming.
If I get A2, I'm super dissapointed.
If I get B3 and below, I would think of committing suicide, then ponder whether my suicide case will appear in next year's 报章报道, then realise that I love life too much, and then take Chinese in RJC.

Lets move on.. I don't want to emo about my Chinese the whole day.

Lets talk about Subject combinations now.

Right now there are 2 main ones going through my mind.

PCMM: Physics, Chem, Math, MEP.. or
ECMM: Econs, Chem, Math, MEP

I'm still at a lost at what I am going to take. JC combinations affect your career options majorly, so I really need to cool down and decide what I want to take.

What do I want to do in the future?

#1 Music teacher
Yeah I know I phail at almost all aspects of music. Like loser of all trades and jack of none. Teaching the cello might be fun, and so is teaching general music or MEP. I'll most probably be like Ms Shen, who only teaches but never openly displays her practical skills unlike Ms Goh who has pro sight-reading. But even then, Ms Shen's practical skills is still super pro (yeah my RE group seen her play before), and she can hear chords and notes, both of which I fail at.

Still, I still have like 5 years or so to work up to Ms Shen's standard >< I must really work super hard from now on!

And someone teach me how to hear notes T.T

#2 Investor
Well, actually I can do this part-time also, as Xinhong as said before, the best investors don't look at the stock market everyday. They analyze businesses, and trust what they read and researched about, not trust the random ups and downs in the stock market. Investing is like a must in the future, cos to combat inflation, you definitely need something that gives you higher returns. Putting your money in the bank basically means you're gradually losing money as they diminish in value.

So I want to take Econs, but I'm not sure if its really essential if I want to go into business. And RJ said that not everyone who applies will get it, unlike Hwa Chong, who have absolutely no lack of Econs teachers because they happily offer long-term contracts to most of the good teachers that come their way and bind them tightly to Hwa Chong. So 90% of the people take Econs in HCI while the number is like significantly lesser in RJ.

#3 Engineer
Well, the other area of interest is to just follow my good old dad and go into the building and construction sector. Take PCMM, work hard and get a good A-level score, apply for BCA scholarship, take an Engineering course and work in the same field as my dad.

Ok so here's when the headache comes in.. Either of the subject combinations can only fulfil 2 out of the 3 options, so which one do I take?

I really want music, so if Dr. Gooi fails me for the Entrance exam, I'll probably emo and rant for another week before I painfully clear my mind and take PCME like what more than half of RI is doing. I really hope this doesn't happen!! Because this year we have a record number of students applying for Music in RJC. Hopefully they won't make any cut!! *Prays*

So now Econs of Physics? Dennis is taking PCMM, so I'm really tempted to swing over too, but then I don't want to make the same Bio/Geog mistake (if it was one) as I did in sec 3. Right now I'm like hoping Xinhong pops out online on MSN so I can clear a lot of doubts with him and decide what I want to take, cos honestly I currently have more interest in Econs than in Physics.

Argh quite luan and still dissapointed and pissed with my Chinese now.. I think I shall go play the piano and cool myself down.

Haven't been blogging for a long time, so I shall back track to Thursday..

Thursday
After school, we had our last MEP "lesson" of year, where we had to learn the piece for the MEP concert on the 6th. After the lesson, we played soccer on our "home ground", outside ArtSpace. Yeah its the true MEP soccer in a small court and a small ball, not the crazy siao basketball court where we all get burned-out by half time.

My ankle just recovered, but heck I played anyway. This time I injured my right toe.. -.- Its quite painful ok, like the whole top section of the toe got dislocated or smth and the toe was quite swollen. Leonard is really like my nemesis in soccer man. >< I can't score against him half the time and its partly his fault i screwed up my toe and ankle. But still, being a soccer-enthu person, I disregarded the pain and continued playing again (yeah I know I'm a super screwed up person). Scored 3 goals, and assisted 3 for Dennis, yeah so Dennis scored 3 also.. Ever since RISE rehearsal ended, my chemistry with jonshin has been dropping somehow, but recently i found it in Dennis =DD

MEP soccer rocks =D

Friday

After a boring day at school, there was a RISE photoshoot.

And its a super phail one. Even the '07-'08 chairman was absent.

Sec 1 to 3, and especially sec 3, was like the golden age of RISE. Every single rehearsal rocks, and we have nice seniors like Matthew, Yiyang and Adriel, each one of them unique and funny.

This year the only fun guy left is like Jon Shin. RISE really seems really really really boring and sian now..

The photoshoot was really fail. Turnout was like 50%? I thought it was the last time I get to meet RISE as a whole, but again I am super dissapointed and my 4 years in RISE ended on an imperfect cadence

Haiz..

Today
Theory exam today, and it was really super easy. Qn 4 and 5 was like giveaway, free 50 marks. Damn it, wasted my time mugging the German, French terms and the different ornaments and none of them came up T.T

And I'm super pissed that I screwed up question 3. I'm super sure I can interpret the wrong key. The extract starts with a "B" and it doesn't even lead to C. Yet I can be so siao as to intepret as C# minor.

Hopefully I can scrape a merit for this exam (good luck to everyone else too!). Its supposed to be so easy a gazillion people can get distinction.

After theory exam, my dad brought my whole family to a bbq hosted by his company.

I didn't want to go, cos its like filled with random people that no one knows, and everyone is so cold to each other.

But it soon became better, cos more random people popped out and soon the chalet was filled with so many random people that I didn't feel left out =D

Anyway, the host got us together to play 2 games, some quiz game and bingo.

Quiz was quite screwed, I screwed up a lot of questions like "What's the longest road in Singapore?" and I guessed Orchard instead of "Bukit Timah" because I don't take bus 74 that often.

Bingo was quite fun ^^ On the first round I won 2 timex watches, then after that I blasted my money on the "tickets" and made an overall loss of $15 bucks. But still, $15 dollars for 2 watches, thats still quite worth it eh?

Other prizes were like MP4, 160GB harddrive, Portable DVD player, and the last prize was the whole pot of money collected from the selling of the bingo tickets. Siao man, at $1 a ticket, the money pot in the end had like close to $200. Some lucky guy called Mr. Heng went home with it.

Okay.. now that theory exam is effectively over, its time to start mugging for Chinese Os.
But first, there is still that stupid testimonial to correct (Ugh the grammer in there is as bad as the grammer in this blog post) xD
