Today, we had an unforgettable english lesson.
So unforgettable that I cringe in reminiscence of it. Okay, today we had our social advocacy tour, where we are SUPPOSED to walk around the neighbourhood and point out the problems, then come up with a proposal to try and solve it.
So what made this lesson so unforgettable compared to the rest of the lessons (where we actually sleep in class while our dear english teacher ms quah gives a pointless lecture) is that we went around the school.
Yes, you read correctly, we went around the SCHOOL, not neighbourhood.
Lets give an example of how an udeak social advocacy tour should be like:
Ms Elsa Chew, led the class 3H out for 2 periods, where they went to J8 for 1.5hours to eat, and the remaining 1/2 hour was spent walking there and back.
BUT, what we did was this:
2.15: Gathered at stadium steps
2.25: Went around the SCHOOL
3.05: Went back to class
3.20: Class Dismissed
So instead of the 2 hours in cirriculum time, we had only 1 hour, and 5 minutes out of school time. Damn! Worst of all, it wasn't even a tour at all, the whole project should have been named: "Old tales of Ms Quah and RI"
For the whole "tour", she was talking about who RI looked like years ago (huh? what about the project, where we are supposed to spot problems and solve them?) Let me tell you a story she told us: I entered RI in 1990. Many years back, they wanted to plant a time capsule, and dig it up again 10 years later. But people forgot the location and thus it is still uncovered till now.
How smart.
