I seldom get the chance to talk to my friends and keep them up-to-date with what's going on with my life...
well, this is it. My online journal. Yah, another personal blog, just exactly what the world needs now. Let's be realistic, it's cheaper than overseas calls. Less tiring than novel-like emails.

Maybe you can help me interpret? What does it mean when someone tells a close friend that they will no longer be close friends when he/she already has a boy/girlfriend? What does it mean when that someone tells the bf/gf of his/her close friend to take good care of his/her close friend and tells him/her how to take care of him/her, and even gives him/her tips? It's somehow similar to the scene in My Sassy Girl (see below)
Get ready for an outstanding year. Aside from the Snake, the Rooster has the best prospects in the year of the Ox. This is the kind of year you have been waiting for, as everything seems to go your way. You have been diligently working towards some long term goals that finally come together this year. Your relations are felt at new levels, as you find a sense of satisfaction that you may not have experienced in a long time. Things you may have thought not possible will become a reality for you in this positive year.
Rooster Rating 72% (10 favorable and 2 neutral months)
Rooster Career Determination and diligence are two key aspects that put the Rooster over the top this year. 2009 is a year that you should promote yourself: Your ideas and your talents will be highly regarded and you will be recognized for past and present efforts. Give it your best this year and seize any opportunity that presents itself. This year will certainly be a landmark for years to come, as you will remember it as one of your most productive times in your life.
Rooster Relationships Domestic matters will fare well for the Rooster this year. You will find comfort in the support and encouragement of family members and friends alike. Seek advice from your seniors, as they may provide information that opens doors to areas that are not known. The social life for the Rooster is a busy schedule. You will enjoy the company of others in many social functions and parties. Romance is highly favorable for the unattached Rooster, so flaunt your feathers.
Rooster Health Health issues are minor for the Rooster this year. Though exercise and diet are not an issue, you may have a problem maintaining the discipline of a steady routine. Take the time to get the exercise you need and everything should work out fine for you. Being somewhat of a risk taker, you may want to try something new that holds your interests. Consider surfing or parasailing to indulge your fancy.
Rooster Wealth This a great year financially for the Rooster. If you have any available funds, you may want to reinvest it in your work. This could prove to be highly favorable and you will reap the benefits in your return. One key issue is your spending habits. Make sure you don't spend the money before it is in the bank or this could pose a problem with your budget. Receive professional advice for any large investments in areas that you are unfamiliar.
This is THE day. I have finally tendered my resignation.
While I was walking to my Sr. Manager's cube, I felt light, beaming and excited to hand in my letter. It's my first time and it even took me hours in composing this letter. It feels good because I will soon be opening another chapter in my life. Despite the fact that this will mean that 4wks from now I will be a bum, I am happy. I know that something good will happen soon, and things will fall into place. :)
Anyway, today is a memorable day for me and coincidentally, this day has more meaning aside from being just a 'manic monday'.
1) AUSTRALIA DAY - is the official national day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, the day commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788, the unfurling of the British flag at Sydney Cove and the proclamation of British sovereignty over the eastern seaboard of Australia. One of my friends from work (Steffen O.), sent me this really nice picture that I love (to eat and post here). [Special thanks to SugarBloomCupcakes] 2) CHINESE NEW YEAR - According to the Gregorian calendar, this is on January 26. Kung Hei Fat Choi! I do miss the yearly tikoy I receive from Grouchy, but it's fine, she still remembered to send me a virtual tikoy via SMS. (Thanks Grouchy!)
3) Mike SJ's Birthday - My former projectmate at the D*w project, our Siebel TechArch. ;) Happy Birthday, Mike!
In approximately 32 days from now, I will be jobless. Though I have been searching for jobs in Seek.com.au, I would have to say I have not actively applied in a lot yet as I am still in Manila, and I think it might be a challenge if the recruiter/company asks for a face-to-face interview. I did apply for 8 jobs online already, but my personal career counselor/seer (a.k.a grouchy) advised me to apply more as the number of successful online applications is quite low (roughly 50 applications: 8 responses). Grouchy has also helped forward my CV to a friend and got my CV assessed already for a Siebel opportunity in March, but unfortunately, this might be for Sdyney. Anyhow, I will soon focus on my jobhunt before I leave Manila. Speaking of which, just an FYI - I have changed my booking from March 16 to March 30. Why? Because I feel that 15 days (after my last working day) is too short to complete all the preparations I need to complete and meeting up friends and relatives for final goodbyes. I already purchased my ticket today as I want to take it off my checklist already. Plus, the price is less painful now since I still have work (though it is included in my budget/expense plan). :)
The year started with lots of parties and get-togethers! I rarely stayed home during the very long Christmas/New Year break or weekends ;) which is exactly what I really wanted as I wanted to enjoy my last few months in Manila with my family and friends.
January 3 - Francis' 4th Birthday With Jannet, Alyssa, Nina, Chico, Sheng and Scott (photo by Jp) - the party was held at Mcdonald's commonwealth. Sheng threw Chiz's party a few weeks early as they will be heading back to Texas (together with Chiz this time) in January 15.
January 14 - Dinner with Anne and Og Anne and Og got married last year, and a few months after they tied the knot, they were both blessed with a baby ;) Anne is now 6mos into her pregnancy, and blooming as ever. We all had fun relieving our High school days and some of our wacky work experiences. I had to ask for some layman translation for some of their terms (being the only non-medical person in the group). Rio is currently reviewing for the upcoming medical board exam, Jp is a registered nurse and both Anne (Internal Medicine) & Og (Infectious Diseases) are doctors in Chicago. January 17 - Jannet's Birthday Party Jannet's Bday is actually on Jan 18, she celebrated it a day earlier so that many of her friends and relatives can attend. It was also the 1st time that I will be seeing Lora again - it's been more than 5yrs that I have not seen her. Like Jannet, Lora was also my classmate in Grade 5. Lots of food and non-stopping chatting with my girlfriends ;)
January 18 - Kuya Alex's Birthday Kuya Alex and Ate Kathy are in Manila for New Year's and a short vacation. Unfortunately, Ate Kathy was sick for almost a week due to dengue :( and was not able to join us for lunch and the picture taking.
Jp and I were supposed to go to Enchanted Kingdom, unfortunately, they are only open Thursdays to Sundays. So we decided to go to Tagaytay instead. It's been cold and windy (roughly at 23-25 degrees C at night, and yes that already translates to "cold" if you're in the Philippines) in Manila in the past days, and as expected it was cooler in Tagaytay. We went to the Picnic Groove, had a quiet dinner and bought some fruits before heading back to Manila. It was memorable because this is the first time that we went out-of-town na kaming 2 lang.
It's the 1st day of the new year - and the best way to celebrate that is thru a PARTY!!!! Just like every year, our family and relatives (from my mother's side), would all gather in our compound for this tradition. This is my last hosting stint, given the fact that I will be moving out around March this year. I have already passed the baton to nieces, and soon they'll be taking my place. :)
As you might have predicted - a party would never be complete without PICTURES!!!
