I seldom get the chance to talk to my friends and keep them up-to-date with what's going on with my life...
well, this is it. My online journal. Yah, another personal blog, just exactly what the world needs now. Let's be realistic, it's cheaper than overseas calls. Less tiring than novel-like emails.
About Me
Name: celgee Home: Philippines About Me: just read through my entries and you'll get to know me :) See my complete profile
People who know me well are familiar with coffee sessions. It is a great way to dig our butts at the starbucks cushion seats while ranting and raving about things that are happening in our lives. When you are sitting and having coffee with the right set of people, you can often get to talk about a lot of things – topics that can go far and beyond. Coffee Sessions for the moment are essentially posts where I just hang out with friends after a movie or a spa session; or where I post some open-ended questions for my companions to chew on based on some common issues that could be bothering me. :)
But the real fun of coffee sessions come from the off the wall comments I often get from my friends. Sometimes topics can be really strange (like a comparison of the pap smear gadget to a huge spoon hahaha) or sometimes could be as gross as... nevermind. Most of the time a visit to a starbucks would come to an end only after the security guard would approach us to tell us that they will be closing in a couple of minutes. That is how engrossed we are in our very "sensible" pondering. :)
It has been a while since us girls have gone out. We used to hang-out twice or thrice a month for dinner, coffee or movie, and ever since Amana moved to Singapore, and Yas’ onshore assignment in Sydney, it has been more than 6mos since our last get-together. Usual topics were discussed – Grunts about work, people we love to hate (hehe), challenges with living away from home, developments in the heart department, goals for 2008 - seemed like I was having my annual review. Luckily(?!?), I was put on the hot seat (again!) about marriage and future plans... I kept on wishing that Jp was there while I was being roasted so that he could take on some of the heat (haha). It was fun seeing them again, despite the interrogation – I know their intentions are pure (naks!) and I am really glad that I have them to give me a wake up call whenever I go overboard in terms of dealing with loveones given my tendency of 'spoiling' people I like/love, (that I sometimes forget my boundaries). :)
It's another mismas party. This one is a party with Jp, his high school buddies and their girlfriends. Like his buddies' girlfriends, I automatically became part of the group – sort of an adopted member. Their group is as wacky and amusing as my H.S. gal pals, maybe that's why I feel at home when they are around.
The party started with dinner at Napoli's Pizzaria in Tomas Morato. Lots of pizza, pasta and mozzarella sticks – unfortunately, I was not able to eat a lot as I have just started drinking the dietary supplement that my niece (who is just 2-yrs younger than me) gave me which after 30mins of drinking the tablet makes you feel full. I couldn't have picked a better day to start this crazy diet.
Anyway, after dinner we all headed to Jhim's house. Everyone brought out the gifts they brought for the gang as well as their gifts for the Kris Kringle. Manny gave each one of us a pound of fruit cake. I got chocolates from Percy and Rogue, while Jhim and Glad gave me a picture frame with our picture from the Puerto Galera trip last March. After 2 bottles of fundador, the boys were starting to get rowdy. Luckly, Glad and I were just have red wine, thus we were able to keep our composure while hitting the high notes in the videoke. Everyone was in high spirits that night and if only the microphone could speak, I think it would have screamed because getting passed around too often. :)
Rihanna's collaboration with Ne-Yo is quite nice. :) Some nice lines from the song...
And I hate how much I love you boy I can’t stand how much I need you And I hate how much I love you boy But I just can’t let you go And I hate that I love you so
One of these days maybe your magic won’t affect me And your kiss won’t make me weak But no one in this world knows me the way you know me So you’ll probably always have a spell on me..
This is the 4th Christmas party I have attended this year. (There are a couple more in the coming days). It's not as extravagant as the other parties - but it's as fun and wacky. We had a team dinner at Mr. Choi's and then went to the conference room for some games, a raffle and our kris kringle. Too bad I wasn't able to participate in the 1st Game (Zip-zip-Bang-Ahhh) due to meeting that I need to attend.
But I got back in time for the 2nd game - which was "4 Truths and a lie". The twist was that each one would create their list of "4 Truths and a lie", but would have to work as a group to identify the "LIES" that will be in the list from the other group. Since we're now 11 in the team, I was the appointed photographer - actually I came in late, as my meeting got extended for a few more minutes. The 3rd game is a classic - CHARADES. :) If we were to choose the "Actor of the night", the award would have gone to Redge - for his dramatic & heartfelt acting for the word SUNRISE. Hahahahaha.
We had 11 gifts prepared for the raffle - no one will be going home without a prize. ;) The revelation for the Kris Kringle was also fun -- everyone was looking forward to know who their dad/mom is - my prediction was right - Anna is my mommmy. I got a pink optical mouse. It's sooo cute, can't wait to use it.
There will always be inevitable circumstances in your life that would make you think of how far you’ve been and where you are now. I am in that current state. Unfortunately, I just re-confirmed my pent-up frustrations in my personal life. I have no regrets about the choice that I have made, and if I were to look back on the years that have passed, I’d say it has been great, unforgettable and happy. However, I have been having tantrums lately because I feel like I am all alone in planning for things that I should not really be planning on my own. It's like you're getting burned out - the only odd thing is that, that usually happens at work - but not for me.
I just do not feel his sense of urgency nor the effort to really really do something that can make things change even for a tiny little bit. Or maybe I should sit with him and conduct an annual review discussion? Might be helpful if I'd get his personal engagement list. ;)
My song for the day: Sway by Bic Runga
Don't stray, don't ever go away I should be much too smart for this You know it gets the better of me Sometimes, when you and I collide I fall into an ocean of you, pull me out in time Don't let me drown, let me down I say it's all because of you And here I go, losing my control I'm practicing your name so I can say it to your face It doesn't seem right, to look you in the eye Let all the things you mean to me Come tumbling out my mouth Indeed it's time to tell you why I say it's infinitely true
Say you'll stay, don't come and go Like you do Sway my way, yeah I need to know All about you
And there's no cure, and no way to be sure Why everything's turned inside out Instilling so much doubt It makes me so tired I feel so uninspired My head is battling with my heart My logic has been torn apart And now it all turns sour Come sweeten every afternoon
It's all because of you It's all because of you
Now it all turns sour, come sweeten every afternoon It's time to tell you why, I say it's infinitely true
It's all because of you It's all because of you It's all because of you
That's the theme of our Project's Christmas Party. Why? Here's a couple of reasons why I think that theme is appropriate:
1. Seeing your projectmates & teammates in dresses, long gowns and suits.
2. Winning "Best Parol" award in the P.A.R.O.L (Pursuit for Artistic, Rare, Original Lanterns) contest 3. Winning the 1GB iPod Shuffle from the raffle 4. [My teammates] Bagging most of the raffle prizes - Don got an mp3 player, Roj got a polo shirt, Kristian got an optical mouse, Anna got a basket of groceries 5. Finding out that we can be stars of a telenovela. Heard of "Maging Sino Ka Man"?
The last time that she will be walking as "Sheryll U. Go".
Mr. & Mrs. Sy's first dance.
Who will be next? Carlo and Rina (02-09-08)
Sheryll's Galera Buddies - Rina, Malou, Yas and Cel.
D&MMSPA02 - Davis, Cel, Bibi, Jett, Malou, Yas with Rina and Carlo
Jett and Davis
Malou and Yas
The Gamboas
The Gang with She and Steb
Too bad Amana, Joseph, Letlet and Nats weren't able to join us - otherwise it would have been a D&MMSPA02 team reunion (the eJump/Prolinx team + the Siebel/MI team). My first team. My 2nd home. :)
Lot and Cris' church wedding is set for December 18. (They already had a civil wedding in Bahamas last year). We met today to celebrate Lot's Birthday (Nov 30), and we were supposed to throw her a bridal shower. Unfortunately, only Jane and Joy were able to join in the get-together tonight - the rest of the gang (the remaining half of the 'barkada' who are still in Manila) were unavailable :( and decided to re-schedule the shower, and just have coffee.
We had coffee, cake and a lot hilarious stories. :) Lot laughed so hard (and almost cried) when I gave her the (bridal shower) gift I brought her from Amsterdam ;) Grrr.. too bad I wasn't able to capture it in my camera. [I was busy laughing as well]
