I seldom get the chance to talk to my friends and keep them up-to-date with what's going on with my life...
well, this is it. My online journal. Yah, another personal blog, just exactly what the world needs now. Let's be realistic, it's cheaper than overseas calls. Less tiring than novel-like emails.

Sheryll had her spa-parrrrty at The Spa in Greenbelt 1. Her sister Ralyn organized the surpise party, which was attended by some of Sheryll's family friends, schoolmates and former teammates. ;) Picture picture!!! (After the massage and the games) Time to give the gifts (Passion Fruit Body butter and body wash from The Body Shop) and have my picture taken with the bride. *I can explain the drowsy eyes. Hot Shower + 10 minutes in the Steam Room + 1 hr Swedish Massage = Sleepy Cel
I first met Sheryll in 2001 - we were part of the same team (D&MMSPA02/D&MMSCI01), and we have been teammates for 3yrs (tama ba?). She's a talented singer and a great cook, and I miss the banana bread that she used to bring to the office for the "Friday Breakfast". :)
Jp and I went to Metrowalk Ortigas today to meet Reggie, Nina and Lot. Lot arrived a couple of weeks ago from Texas, and she's here in Manila to organize her upcoming wedding. Reggie kept on complaining about how stressful her work is esp. her b*tchy supervisor. Nina is still slim as ever - and you wouldn't even notice that she just gave birth 3 months ago. I can't recall exactly what triggered the discussion about "mix and match". Basically, our goal is to mix my High School friends with Jp's High School buddies, and hope to have a successful match in some of our friends. We already made some progress and introduced Reggie to Manny (but only thru text), and maybe next time we can arrange a get-together so that we can formally introduce them to each other. :)
I attended my niece's 1st birthday together with nanay, tatay and Jp. We arrived at Chili's around 3pm. All the kids were dressed up in nice costumes, including CJ, who was dressed like a little fairy. After munching some nachos and drinking several mugs of iced tea, my cousin informed me that the party is about to start. Hmmm.. okay. I thought she said that because I had to take pictures. Much to my surprise, after the host greeted the guests, I heard my name being called to lead the opening prayer. :) I never even had the chance to get nervous about going in front of a lot of guests. Hehehehe..

While taking our Day2-PMP Quiz, my seatmate blurted out that there was an explosion at Glorietta. He said that an LPG tank exploded in the Luk Yuen Restaurant. A couple of minutes later, we all received a text advisory from the firm confirming that there is an explosion, and that all employees are advised not go near the area. The intensity of the explosion only sank in after I saw the pictures that circulated in emails and posted in the internet.
To date, the number of casualties is still increasing as they remove the debris from the blast. Seeing pictures of Glorietta 2 ripped through the roof and nearby shops severely damaged couldn't just be caused by an LPG explosion. :( I feel sad to hear about the 8 people who died, 113 injured, and to date there are still 5 missing. Our office (in my previous project) used to be in the 6750 building, and during lunch time Pat, Giff and I would often be in Glorietta. If our office was still Makati, I am pretty sure that I would have been there in Glorietta - esp. since it's a Friday (Friday Lunch Out!). :( Let's see how effective the police and the bureau of investigation will be in finding out the root cause and perpetrators for this.
I seldom get a chance to see my college friends now. Everyone's busy with work, their love ones, and most of the time, weekends are spent to relax or be with their immediate families. In our case, we'd only see each other on special ocassions - like birthdays. Julian Corsair (JC) is celebrating his 4th birthday today, and you might find it odd that there's no kid in sight (aside from the celebrator). JC already had his party at school and his dad (my bestfriend, Johnston) explained that this 2nd party is for JC's godparents. I guess now you're wondering how come the title of this blog is 'girl talk'. Well, all of my college friends have girlfriends/wives now, and while our dear partners were busy playing video games (yup...their some hobby, since I first met all of them) the girls and I stayed in Cathy & Johnston's room to chat.
Cathy (Johnston's wife), Mary Rose (Adrian's wife and my friend from Grade School & High School) and Lai (Gil's fiancee) exchanged notes about pregnancy and living together with their respective partners, I just sat there in the corner listening to them. Lai is already 6 mos pregnant, Mary Rose is also a couple of weeks delayed and Cathy is 2mos pregnant. It was nice hearing how excited they all are about their pregnancy, and as much as I would want talk -- I didn't have a lot to share as that topic is not really my cup of tea (maybe after a couple of years), but it was nice to hear about how my friends Johnston, Adrian and Gil are (from a different perspective), and learn about how they have grown from the "Red Alert/Starcraft/Warcraft" boys to the soon-to-be-dads. :)
After my (usual) evening meetings, Jp, Skip and I headed to Serendra to meet Tenten, Pat (a.k.a Pesem, Dory) and Kaye (Pat's friend). A fun evening of good food with good friends, and a lot of good laughs. Hahaha... It's really entertaining to look back and recount the funny memories in our previous project. But nothing compares to the news that Pat brought with him back to Manila. :) Certified Star Buzzer talaga itong si Pat!!! Di ko kinaya yung mga "hot" and "R-rated" news. :)
I just got off a TL Planning workshop at Club Manila East in Taytay, Rizal. Together with the other team leads and managers in our project, we stayed overnight in CME and wrapped up the workshop around 1pm. I knew I was already late for Anna's party, but still pushed thru with going to her place. I promised I would attend the party... and I did. The question is what time did I arrive. :)
1:30pm - Left the CME grounds. Shirly, Leah and Vincent dropped me off the office 2:15pm - I took the MRT from Boni to North Ave. I asked Jp to accompany me to Anna's place as I am not really familiar with the area, and given that I have a backpack full of clothes, laptop, ipod, and all my stuff, I don't think I'd be able to travel for hours on my own. 3:30pm - I arrived at the North Ave station. Jp bought a cake at Red Ribbon, Trinoma, and we met up at the Trinoma-MRT exit. 4:00pm - We were able to get on the bus to Monumento. 4:45pm - Arrived at Monumento. Took the jeep to Malabon - Acacia. 5:15pm - Arrived at the "Plaza ng Polo". 5:20pm - Anna and Rommel arrived and picked us up and we then took the tricycle to Anna's place 5:30pm - Yipee!!! We made it!!! :)

The merienda was served at anna's grandmother's house. We then moved to Anna and her parents' house, and we got to see her wall of fame. Wanna see? :)
Her parents and lola were soooo hospitable. :) Jp and I left with our stomachs full and with a bag full of "palabok ng malabon", lumpia, and eggs from her lola's china chickens. :)
Nakakairita talaga. As in wala.
