A Small Shout Out

During the madness of the holidays and the craziness of our house adventure, Carl and I hurtled a milestone in our marriage. We celebrated our 5 year anniversary on
December 28, 2009.
Hooray for us!!
Since I didn't have internet at the time, I was unable to express my love and appreciation for the person that matters the most in my life; my better half, the cheese to my macaroni, the ham to my burger, the dough to my donut....you get the point.

Even though I tell him everyday how much I love him, I just want to make sure he gets it:
I LOVE YOU, CARL HOLMAN MCCAIN!
There, now he should be good and embarassed:)

no wait....

That should do it. :) He's so cute.
I am the luckiest girl in the world to have such a caring and loving husband.
He is my best friend.
And we have experienced so much together.
Plus, he gave me a pretty cute kid!
Happy 5 years to us!
And may there be many more... (...years, adventures, children....)
:)
Love you!

A Little Bit of Everything

Mom and Dad Owens came down to be our very first guests in our new place. They were on their way down to California to visit my brother and new niece and decided to go through Utah on the way. I'm so glad they did. It is always so fun to have them around, even if it's just for a couple of days.
We had a lot of fun taking as many pictures as possible in as many different ways as possible. These are just a couple..We all know how much mom likes taking pictures :)

My Brother Jeff and his girl Becky

Grandpa giving Hayden some soda, or as she likes to call it "loda".

The ever so famous "J Dawgs" mmmmmm yummy

Eating donuts. My favorite. We like getting Hayden all sugared up.

This picture makes me laugh every time. No, it's not because I'm front and center looking cool as ever, mainly it's because of Hayden. Look at that face. My dad doesn't look too shabby either. What exactly were we doing? I will never tell.
Jeff and Becky got Hayden this awesome kimono and she looks so freak-in cute in it!
We went to a BYU basketball game. We won. Dad was in heaven. Go cougs! Poor Carl couldn't go because he is taking an HR class on Wed. nights now. Way to be responsible, Carl. I love you for that!
Basically, it was a very nice and well needed visit. Now they are enjoying their time with their other cute as ever granddaughter. We love you, Gma and Gpa! This video is for you, Mom!

Now onto a couple other happenings. Remember this beauty? We finally have a place to actually put it and use it...kind of! Yes, that is Hayden "napping" in her giraffe. Every time we go downstairs and open the door she says, "Oh my goodness!" because she is so excited to see Mr. Giraffe again. Gotta love it.

And finally, our BBQ. Thanks to Gma and Gpa McCain, we can now enjoy delicious outdoor cooking right in our very own backyard! Carl finally feels like a real man because of this, and for that I thank you.

Look how much concentration is put into this grilling. It turned out wonderful! Hooray!
The End.

The Cure for the Blahs

I have just had no creative mojo in me to come up with any kind of blog for the last little while. I'm a little bugged by this because it either means that my life is REALLY boring or I'm losing my enthusiasm for blogging! Oh no, what would the world be like without the McCain blog around? A sad, sad place I assure you. :)

But it's not sad because I have cute pictures for you to look at. My neighbor, Robyn, invited Hayden and I over to play and take pictures, so I couldn't resist. She seriously has the cutest kids ever, so it's not hard to convince Hayden that we are going over to see the "cute boy". She really says that, and I love it.

Here are a few of my favorites:

I love kisses!

She's pretty much a cutie if you ask me!

For the "Mamas" and the "Papas"

Really, it's for anybody who wants to watch. Enjoy!

My future gymnast. I'm so proud!

New Project

The fun thing about having a new house is having lots of fun new projects to go along with it, right?

Right!

Our first item of business: painting the baseboards and doors.
We had the choice while the house was getting built to have them two-tone paint our walls and stuff, but that was an extra whole lot of money. So we thought, no way, we can totally paint everything for WAYYYY cheaper ourselves, so we told them to go ahead and just paint everything one color, and we'll fill in the blanks.

At first, I was very excited about it...until I started doing it. Don't get me wrong, I do like painting and I'm still very excited for the end result, but I think that end result might take a lot longer than I initially thought. I'm a little overwhelmed at how long it actually takes me to paint a door frame, and to think I have about 11 more left to do, plus the actual doors, + the windowsills and baseboards. BUT we have started off great, and it will get done, a long time from now, but it WILL get done!

I decided to start with the front entry and then work my way through the house. The above picture was Day 1(yesterday) and the below is today (day 2), with the painted door and hallway baseboards.

I've been working on it while Hayden is napping, so I might just stick with that routine. So far we are happy with the results we have on some baseboards in the front entry. I can't wait to be done and move onto the next project, whatever that may be!

This next picture makes me happy. Me, in the kitchen making dinner, while my two favorite people hang out and keep me company. I love this kitchen set up!:) Look at how intensely Hayden is drawing. What a cutie!

A Fresh Start

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. Another year has passed and another one is beginning, and I'm always excited to see what each new year brings.

We have had an exciting end to the year with the closing of our house. Hooray! What a great way to start a new year, in a new house! All of our worries and headaches are now gone and we can rest comfortably in our new place. We signed the papers and were handed our house keys on December 23.
Merry Christmas to us!

We are nearly all settled in now, just waiting on the blinds to get installed so we don't have to expose ourselves to our new neighbors. Nobody wants that!

We love the views
It has definitely been an interesting time getting this house, but well worth it. We love it. Thanks to all of you for your support during this process!

Before all of the house signing business, we were able to go visit Washington and the folks on both sides. We always love seeing grandmas and grandpas.

This is us picking out a tree for the McCains
Guess what? Hayden had her first haircut! She no longer has a mullet. Bitter sweet, truly bitter sweet:)
On Christmas morning, Carl packed up all the presents and our little trees and took them to the new house so we could open presents there. Santa even found our new house! It was so fun.
Hayden loves her baby!

We are so very blessed and I am so thankful for the family and friends in my life. We hope 2010 finds you in great health and spirit!
