Love and Basketball

I have a million things to be doing right now, but I decided to do a blog instead. I know my priorities. I don't really know why I'm doing a blog because I am so tired and not all mentally there, therefore, my whit and humor may not be at it's best, but that might not even make a difference. You know how it goes, sometimes I think I'm really funny, when in reality I'm not, yada yada yada. Okay, on to the post.

I really just wanted to talk about Carl. I love him. It's true. He works so hard to put food on our table and clothes on our back and for that I am so grateful. Another thing I love about him, and he will probably be in shock that I put this, is his love for basketball. He LOVES it. He loves to play it, to watch it...everything having to do with basketball. He plays on city leagues and church ball. It's one of his favorite things. I used to give him such a hard time about all the time he spent playing, because he should be spending it with me, dang it! But I have learned in my old age that he needs that escape to let loose and burn off steam. I'm glad he has something(other than me, of course) that he loves to invest time in. Plus, I have really learned to love March Madness and I'm not too shabby at picking my bracket. Just don't ever pick Wisconsin to win it all. They'll let you down every time.

Our friend, Andy, invited Carl to play with his team last week, so I took the liberty of documenting his love of the game.

Carl attacking!

This is a shot of two guys fighting. It almost got physical, but it didn't. Just a bunch of yelling in faces. Gotta love city leagues.

Amylyn, me and Hayden rooting the guys on.

Carl and Andy waiting to rebound.(Andy is the one in the dark shirt)

Crazy kid.

BFF

I threw those last couple in because they make me laugh. I love my little family.

A New Day

So history was made today, and I must say, I was fascinated with the presidential inauguration this morning. As I was listening to the new President Obama in his first speech as President of the United States, I realized how excited I am to see a change not only in the country and economy, but in the attitudes of the American people ourselves. I think he really is an excellent speaker and a great motivator, and I am anxious to see what he has in store for our country. I pray that the people in this country will stand behind our new president and encourage him to make this country something we can be proud of, no matter what political background we may have. God bless the U.S.A!

Now, back to me, because that's what everyone wants to hear about right? Ha! Anyway, we were able to hang out with Carl's sister and her family this weekend and we loved it. They have two of the cutest little boys ever, so Hayden was able to play with her cousins once again. I love that. It was so good to see them and we can't wait for our next trip together.

Carl and I are also deeply involved in our beloved series of LOST. We didn't get to watch all of season 4 last year, so we are frantically trying to catch up and finish season 4 before season 5 starts TOMORROW! Holy cow, I forgot how much I really like this show. I have NO idea what is going to happen, it's so good! So therefore, since I have been so caught up at night in LOST, my reading in Breaking Dawn has dwindled, but I am almost finished with it. I'll let you all know when that happens, don't you worry. All I will say is I wish I were a vampire. There, I said it.

And now for the cutest of all cuteness: Hayden
Hayden now has 6 teeth(and counting) that we are actually brushing. Her little toothbrush is so cute, I can't stand it.
She also loves to feed herself with a spoon, so you can only imagine the mess that makes...no wait, no need to imagine, I have proof right here for you:

She is also starting to figure out this walking stuff. So here is a cute video of her new attempts at this crazy thing we do with our legs:

Here's my random of Hayden. While I was changing her diaper and clothes, she escaped and was found doing what she loves... making a mess, of course.
What's not to love?!

Please enjoy this clip. You may have to watch it a couple of times to get the full effect, but it's worth it!

Time for Bed....I'm Sleepy

Wow, what a day. We had some of the first of many bumps and cuts Hayden will have in her lifetime, but I will talk about that later.

First, Elder Dave has returned!
We were able to go up to Washington on New Year's Eve and welcome the last of the McCains home from his mission. The poor kid was completely overwhelmed by all of us throwing our kids on him, but he handled himself like a true RM. We had fun hanging out with the family and helping Dave adjust back to normal, if you would call that helping. :)Welcome home, Dave. We are proud of you!

So here is a question for all you moms out there: Will my house ever be clean and organized again?

...Just wondering.

For some reason, I really like this picture of Hayden. It's totally random, but it makes me laugh every time.

Okay, so about today. Basically, Hayden didn't have a very graceful day, to put it lightly, but she was still a super silly girl despite having been beat up by inanimate objects. So kudos to her.
Earlier this morning as I was getting something for breakfast, Hayden crawled into the kitchen and somehow her hands slipped out from under her and kerplop! she face plants into the floor and experiences her first bloody lip. Those darn teeth! But a little soothing and a soft, wet cloth to suck on fixed that problem right up. Sorry, no close up of the lip. It's not too bad, but you can see a little cut. Owie!
This afternoon we were eating some fruit loops and I hadn't noticed that she had thrown about 5 pieces in her mouth at once, until she started choking on them! AHHH, so some pats on the back and a little choke puke later, all is well, and she's back in for more fruit loops. This time she only got one at a time, we are learning to control our portions.
And to top off this fun day of adventures, we were having a fun time showing Carl what a big girl Hayden is because she can walk holding only one of our hands. Well, she happened to lose her balance right at the corner of our bed where there just happened to be the corner of the metal frame. Yep, she hit right in the middle of her forehead, and of course, I freaked! Let's just say I'm so glad Carl was home to help stop the bleeding and calm her down. I feel like a horrible mother, but Carl keeps reminding me that these are the first of many bonks she will have in her life. I just hope she learns to spread them out so they don't always happen on the same day! So here are some pictures of her first band aid.

I have some really cute videos, but for some reason, they don't want to upload right now. I'll try again later. They are a must!

Finally, I would like everyone to know how much I appreciate them and love them. I had a good friend from high school pass away this weekend and I am sad that I couldn't tell her how great I thought she was. I've told her before, but it should be said more often. She was only 29 and had a little 4 month old boy. We had kept in touch, but not nearly as much as I wish we had. Lisa was a beautiful person and I will miss her dearly.

I love you all!
