Stole time to walk around and found that many Japanese shops in Singapore malls. There was at least one shop in each mall that I stepped in. One even has a special corners for all Japanese ingredients, snacks and groceries at the departmental store. I doubt it really works for those fly all the way to Japanese to purchase some of those items if they were not unique.
