21 Dec 2008 : Winter Solstice

Although there was no winter in Malaysia, we did celebrate it as a cultural event. Some might celebrate it by praying, some might just have a reunion, and some might not celebrate it at all.
While chatting last 2 days, Yin & PL suddenly thought of making and eating of Tang Yuan(湯圓)) or balls of glutinous rice, which symbolize reunion. So, we went to the Store to purchase the ingridients. Both did not remember how to make it. The 1st trial was terrible, either too large or too soft.
We continued to make more the next morning. It was much better since there was a "sifu" teaching us. And it finally looked ok to cook. All of us had it one day earlier since Yin, Han & Penny planned to left yesterday.

17 Dec 2008 : Streamyx is Up !!

Finally, streamyx was connected.
We transferred our telephone line to the new house last week. However, we could not call out using house phone, but could merely receive incoming call till this Monday. After filing the faulty report, it took them 2 days to transfer our streamyx.
The house shifting was kind...of...err...messy... We did not pack before the D-day. But we dumped all necessities in the luggages and laundry bags (well, we had almost >10 luggages and laundry bags that suited this need) and squeezed into the car on that day we moved. It took us almost 8-hour to complete the load unload for us to move in on 13 Dec 2008.
PL grabbed the Christmas tree on display at a RM5 shop in JJ Permas Jaya. She was then working on the Christmas tree to enlighten the house. It was specially done for little CY since he was not comfortable to move into new house. And it also brought back PL's memory on how she decorated the Christmas tree when she was a little girl in grandma's house.....Not only him, we also found that we needed to adapt to the new environment. What made the greatest difference was the stairs. We climbed up and down to get our things, including little CY who left some of his books / toys upstairs.

08 Dec 2008 : Reno...reno..reno....

We were busy with all those touch-up, especially the earth leakage problem of the water heater which was the 1st priority ! It was then fixed yesterday.

To our relief, we also found 3 meter long curtains for the slightly abnormal tall sliding doors in JJ Tebrau City last weekend. It was not so normal to get those lengthy curtains and yet we would like to try to get those ready-made rather than opt for custom-made.

One glance on the to-do list, we left final touch up of built-in furniture & painting and purchase of curtains for the bedrooms. Wooshhh... more to go....

29 Nov 2008 : AH

Finally, the built-in furniture was averagely 70% completed.
We wished to move in in mid Dec. Thus, we could have our 1st Christmas in the new house.
And, at the same time, mom was moving down to South at almost the same time. Yeow would drive her down and most probably we would meet up in KL.

28 Nov 2008 : Built in Furniture

It was almost done. However, there were still some touch-up to be completed next week.

15 Nov 2008 : AH progress

Now, left the built in furniture and curtain railing, the house was ready to be occupied. We went to do some spot cleaning and spring cleaning from time to time. And, the usual passtime of the weekend was looking for those home accessories.
Yesterday, PL took one day leave to have her own pleasure time after the certification audit. She went to Tesco, followed by a haircut at SilkCut. After that, she used WD40 to clear some stains on the floor, including the stubborn stain caused by masking tape. And, she left some old t-shirt in AH as floor mat and wiping clothes. She then resumed her shopping at JJ tebrau city where she laid her eyes on 2 elegant blouses, in case there was any "important" event.
It was indeed a headache to work in a company without uniform. The wardrobe always ran out off clothes. PL once joked about to buy 5 polo t-shirts with different colors for the 5 working days per week.
PL cooked for dinner, to clear some long stored stock in the refridgenerator. CC just needed to heat it up when PL was home after picking up little CY from childcare.
This morning, we were in time for the Yoga class. PL used to be late for 5 minutes before we adjusted our timing to allow little CY to pick his socks and shoes. *sigh*
In the late afternoon, little CY went to visit his ex-bb sitter with CC with PL lazed at home. It was kind of tired visiting Lorenzo for our coffee table. We were still undecisive on the dining lamp. Little CY was back at dinner time with his full stomach, stuffed with his favourite soup and pumpkin rice. Now, he was watching "Barney, Go to the Zoo".

12 Nov 2008 : Finally.....OHSAS 18001 : 2007 & ISO 14001 : 2004

PL & the team got the company certified for both management systems - OHSAS 18001:2007 & ISO 14001:2004.
Anyhow, PL was not satisfied with the allowance for contractors that messed up the plant. If not, the findings would be more satisfactory. Looking at positive side, those hardcore personnel would open their eyes and listened to what ESH pushed last few months, especially on people working on behalf of the company.
Anyhow, it was a great achievement for the team of touching up and structuring the system within 4 months.

08 Nov 2008 : Light up !

We spent the whole day (10.30am-7.30pm) in AH. The contractor was busy installing all those available downlight, ceiling lamps, spot light, wall lamps and .............

08 Nov 2008 : Grass or ....?

PL tried to root out those weeds from the carpet grass lawn. There were few at the pearl grass lawn outside the fence, but the small piece of carpet grass lawn inside the fence was 30% covered with weeds.
However, PL was having difficulties to identify the weeds, especially the cute little purple flowers. Were they weeds ?

04 Nov 2008 : Happy Birthday to little CY !

Lucky CY..! Celebrated his birthday 3 X. He was finally 2 years old !
1st : Celebrated with Ah Ta, 三叔&三婶. We did not inform anyone but just bought a cake back one day earlier when we decided to go back to tgk. It was then we spotted this lovely Doraemon peeping through Lavender's glass window.

2nd : CC decided to throw a small party at MacDonald's. We only invited a few neighbours with kids that CY used to play with since he was taken care by his baby sitter. This jelly cake was home made. The source was recommended by Monori. It turned out to be better than buying any cakes.3rd : PL bought a small cake in Season cake house during the lunch break and brought over to the childcare, with some titbits. Seemed like we were encouring unhealthy food to kids. *sigh*

02 Nov 2008 : Welcome to all of you !

Although the house was not ready to be occupied, it was ready to welcome some guests.

Well, we only grabbed a set of table & stools to entertain any guests prior moving in.
PL saw a similar set last month but we did not make any reservation. To PL's dissapointment, it was sold ! And, the nursery person-in-charge could not confirm if he could get the same set. With blackened face like charcoal, PL dozed off in the car.

After asking one of the contractors, CC finally found a few nursery that selling this type of stools & table.

29 Oct 2008 : Busy weeks

PL would be busy for these 2 weeks. The certification audit was round the corner.

Thursday, October 23, 2008

23 Oct 2008 : Green look

Finally, the grass was planted. The challenge now was how to maintain its impressive green.

Sunday, October 19, 2008

19 Oct 2008 : Still busy with renovation

Light

We finally decided on :
1. Study room wall light
2. Garden spot light
3. Gate post light
4. Balcony ceiling light
5. Store room wall light
It was really headache to think of what type of lighting to be installed. There were so many varieties nowadays. And, there were in fact many downlights to be installed at our new home. Actually, PL did not like so many downlights but CC just liked them.
We still did not decide on those ceiling light to be installed at below locations :
1. bedrooms
2. yard
3. kitchen
4. dining area
5. stairs

We also needed to spend some time to look for fans, water heater and air cont.

Outstanding
If there was no delay, the grass would be planted next week.

14 Oct 2008 : One day trip to KL

It was hard to have opportunity to get on MAS nowadays due to cost saving. Since it was a day trip, the best was taking MAS to suit the schedule.

PL attended a seminar in KL. It was related to EHS (Environmentally Hazarodous Substance).

12 Oct 2008 : Home fair

Today, PL walked into the homefair alone. The hall attracted the people with its Colors of Deepavali. The largest Ranggoli (1,218.3 square meter) created a record in Malaysia Book Of Records (MBOR). How much it was wasted ? The most important thing was they used 5 tonnes of RICE !!! How many people in the earth could have have survive with this amount of rice ?

The Baagus DIY Roman blinds caught PL's eyes again. She grabbed a 5 feet Doraemon model but to find out that it was too small for CY's 3-panel windows. Thus, she made a 2nd trip there to change to different design to suit the study room which had 2-panel windows. Little CY kept on repeating : 妈咪换掉小叮当,妈咪换掉小叮当,,,,(Mommy changed the Doraemon to others) *sigh*

04 Oct 2008 : Hong, Miss u !!

1 year ago, on the same date, PL's brother met an accident.

03 Oct 2008 : Lazed in office

The office was extremely quiet. There were only 3 in PL's office. 3 of them felt kind of silly since most of the people were taking day off to have a long weekend, but they were sitting in the office. And, we could not find most of the co-workers to discuss or carry out any tasks. We ended up doing documentation.

PL met up with tailou, his wife and the little one in the small Japanese restaurant in IOI mall. Ivy's sister & brother also came along. We had a quick chat. PL did not realize the small bb was 3 month old. So fast !

The afternoon was also spent on documentation and some short discussion with whoever PL could find. They called the day off on the dot of time and rushed back.

Wednesday, October 01, 2008

01 Oct 2008 : Bean Bag

We went to Lorenzo to pay the down payment and also collected the bean bag. Little CY tried on it in the afternoon & he loved it. It was indeed comfortable to sit on, lie on or sleep on.

01 Oct 2008 : Sun Jar

PL bought 2 units of sun jars from a forum contact. So far, it was working fine. It would be a great to place in the new house later.

24 Sept 2008 : Tinted film

CC finally called up the contractor to change the tinted film from the 8% to 20% visible light transmittance with the same heat reflectance.PL went to see the impact after the contractor put on the 8% tinted film because CC informed that it was kind of dark. We went there in the morning, afternoon and evening for a few times that we decided to change it.
The feeling of staying in a dark environment even during day time was uncomfortable for us. Some people might like it but we were not.
Just imagine we needed to switch on the light even during day time ! If not, we needed to open all the windows. It would defeat the purpose of installing the tinted film then. With the 20% visible light transmittance, we could enjoy the visible light without opening the window. If we did not intend to switch on the air con, we also did not have to open all the windows or sliding doors but a few should be sufficient to have natural ventilation with the fan switched on.
Thus, whoever consider installing tinted film, do ask on the visible light transmittance.

Spent 4 D/3N in Penang. The main purpose was for Hong's 1 year on 23 Sept according to lunar calender.

14 Sept 2008 : Lantern festival celebration

The apartment management office organized a lantern festival celebration at the pool side. We were charged RM5 per person. The kid got the door gift package while each of us also was distributed with a package of fried rice / mee siam + soybean + fried chicken.
The programmes were interesting but we left earlier because little CY was sick and CC was not interested in any of the events. The programmes included Latern puzzle (猜灯谜), children traditional clothes competition, dance, chinese instrumental show, etc.

13 Sept 2008 : Lantern Festival meet up

The place was not easily found. It was at Mutiara Rini and isolated from the main road. CC was pissed off with the uncleared direction given.

13 Sept 2008 : AH

The progress of the house renovation was almost completed if without considering the built-in furniture.....
Last Tuesday, the contrator started the grille & laminating film work, without informing CC. He was quite mad on it since he would like everything to be discussed again and made it clear prior any commensing of jobs. It would be win-win situation that not much touch up was required later on. Worse still, the laminating film was not pasted with good workmanship. CC instructed to stop all jobs till the touch up was completed for laminating film. There were also some minor touch up needed for the fence & grille - some edges were not coated and it would cause rusting in the future.
Initially, we thought the polycarbonate would darken the interior, but it was not. Instead, it was those laminating film causing the house to be not as bright as previous. We were uncertain if we selected the appropriate clarity and reflective index. Thus, we might need to consult the contractor.
Basically, we just left - grille for interior, built-in furniture, alarm system, lightings and grass. The built-in furniture was actually the bottleneck. Lightings would be installed after the built-in furniture while the grass would be planted after we moved in.

09 Sept 2008 : Busy

We were pretty busy these 2 weeks - house renovation thingy, sourcing for dining table / sofa, housework, grocery shopping and routine errands.
At the same time, we were sick. Most of us could not escape from CY's virus when he was having severe flu, including his 舅舅.
The painting was completed last Saturday. However, CC noticed some touch up was needed for the bottom of the walls painted with mocha mauve.
Initially, we were not comfortable with the orangy galaxy of the exterior wall. Now, it looked better and better. And the tone changed with the brightness of the daylight and the shower of sunlught. We should extend our gratitude to the painting boss who was good in paint colour matching. He in fact, insisted us to use the galaxy.
Since the built-in furniture could only be fabricated at end of September, we would have more time to make other arrangement.
