29 Oct 2005 : ......

The plant is in a mess... most people are rushing for their holidays...

I am still wondering why the plant is not shut down for Hari Raya with the majority of Muslime employees. But another way, if it is going to be shut down, the top management will consider annual preventive maintenance that only Facilities department will need to work.

Anyhow, this is out of my control.

CC ta pao 2 roti canai with curry mutton.

So, this is the dinner of the day.

Note : I think some of my colleagues read this blog.

26 Oct 2005 : Caught in a traffic

Rushed home as stomach is rumbling..and head is swinging.

" I need to go...could we finish my items 1st,,,"

This is the 1st time PL excused herself.

23 Oct 2005 : 大英雄郑成功

Morning

We finally went to Johor Jaya wet market. Lots of fresh items can be grabbed. We got our 4 kembung for laksa (*sigh* laksa again...coz PL feels like to eat again), a dunno-called-what fish, and leong tau fu.

Reading paper + WPA + surfing for PL
Reading paper + sleeping + surfing for CC

Watching 大英雄郑成功.

Noon

12.30pm, we waited in front of Pelangi Mall for slyn & her hubby. Lunch was at Chakra's, a newly opened Indian restaurant.

It was a hearty lunch. We were having a full stomach when we left. PL & CC also finally know where Bidun is, near to Hyatt, across the street to Specialist.

Afternoon

Stay at home rest, cook, blog & watch Korean movies. Out of 3, 2 are starred by Yeow's favourite actress, Jeon Ji-Hyun 全智賢. This is a 3-in-1 DVD. Watched 2 movies, except My Sassy Girl that watched before.

22 Oct 2005 : WPA

PL went back to company to complete some paper work, as well as her WPA to be submitted by mid next month for her Dec exam.

Due to the time spared for WPA & others, PL decided to retrieve from ERT training but still pending on approval. Anyhow, CC's philosophy is minimize work during weekend to spend more time with families and rest. So, PL got a lecture again this morning.

The working culture is different from people to people. Some think that working OT is showing they are busy; but another group will think that there is lack of effectiveness & efficiency....

For CC will be the later one...mostly due to his 7-year experience in the State. PL's point of view : Set priority on different situations and circumstance. PL did ask her subordinates on the extra hours they would like to spend on weekend & off hours. The answer : I do not mind. And, would like to collect OT especially near to festival. And, PL always reminds : Do not spend too much time in plant. And, if there are planned activities, try to do it during working hours unless there is emergency or urgency.

What do you think ??

17 Oct 2005 : rest & relax

A good sleep on the coach.

CC went to work, PL stayed on the bed for another 2 hours sleep.

More update on 3-day rest & relax in Penang later.....

PL's brother, Hong joined Pacific West team for dragon boat race. They just got their new boat after one of their boat was destroyed during tsunami last December, believed to be a gift after their victory in Singapore on 7-8 Oct.
Dragon eye dotting ceremony was held earlier.

14 - 16 Oct 2005 : sleep a lot,,,,drive around....walk up & down...BUY a lot...

14 Oct 2005

Arrived at around 6am, took ferry to cross to Penang Island. The fare is now RM1.20 per adult..Some changes at the ferry station. There are docking system at Weld Quay. Accordingly, they are building Marina Bay at the corner.

Took shower, went to eat bak kut teh, char koay teow, chee cheong fan, and hokkien mee (In southern part, it is known as prawn mee) with mom & yin. Yin arrived at around 2am.

In the morning, PL went to Hong's shop to do her 1st "shopping". Got a smart thumb drive that can zip files & have its own photo album. Then, she was in Perangin Mall walking round every floor for a survey. Thanks uncle Kuan to spare his car to us.

During lunch, PL met many of her ex-colleagues in Penang plant. Had a good chat with Sharon. It was a long table that do not have opportunities to talk much with everyone. The mini gathering becomes a 14-pax Banana Leaf buffet lunch due to coincidence of another gathering from another ex-boss. In the afternoon, CC, PL & Yin went to grandma's house. Not forgetting to pay respect to PL's dad in the temple. We missed the Ching Meng that this is the time we could have a belated praying. AB called and we have a long "mee sua" talk.

On our way back, Yin met her friend in Perangin Mall while PL went for her hair coloring. Her beautiful hair dresser left Hair Impression that she got a young hair dresser to work on her hair. The result is : Copper brown base with red violet highlight plus treatment & ozonation. PL does not like the experienced professional hair dressers because they are usually arrogant and make customers uncomfortable. So, she is comfortable even the hair dresser is young.

In the evening, PL & CC stepped into Uptown for the 1st time. Awaiting are Chee, TK, Ong, Khoo, Michael (from KUS) , and Lim. This is not a place for a good chat neither with the loud music. We sneaked out at 10 pm to have our favourite sup kambing opposite Hotel Malaysia.

15 Oct 2005

One of our favourite place in Penang : Wet Market"s". (Yeah...we went to 2 wet markets) Haha... The morning were spent to have PL's favourite fried fresh fish mee hoon, "shop" in market for some ingredients to bring back, choosing Yin's blouse, finding the delicious 油条 (PL's 油炸kuih..her ping yin is....ahem...etc....)

Having a heavy lunch at home. Afternoon was also a shopping spree for PL. CC stayed at home, sleeping & watching his Astro. PL bought a DVD player (surprised to find that DVD player is no longer an expensive item) to replace the VCD player at home, her K700i and shower cream.
We drove around a few areas as sight-seeing.

Hong invited us to German Fest. We got ready but CC did not want to move. So, we finally stayed at home watching DVD & Astro after home cook steamboat dinner. Our 2 little cousins, Matthew & Amanda were here to enlighten the bored evening. GI Aunt made cheese cake for PL. Hong was drunk when he was back. BC told us he did not vomit but drive on road with a zigzag. Alcohol is not good for liver...mom must be worried.

16 Oct 2005

Sunday morning is a family morning as usual. Grandma, mom, GI aunt, Amanda, PL, CC & Yin went for breakfast at 香港茶楼, followed by Giant grocery shopping. To PL's dismay, there are many items that need to be replenished.

Lunch is with Carolyn at RIBS Barbeque Restaurant. (Cuisine : Tex-Mex barbeque) Recommended by Carolyn's sis. CC just exclaimed : Wooww.. quesadilla (tortilla filled with bacon, ham and melt with cheese) is my favourite. But he was the one did not want to go together. This is the dish Carolyn ordered & PL ordered Baby Back, pork ribs grilled with special barbecue sauce.

What a surprise... This restaurant is managed by PL's travel agent husband.

PL : Have you changed job ?
Joyce : No.. I am helping my husband. This restaurant is his.
PL : Orh.....!
Joyce : Are you coming back for holidays ?
PL : No.... We did not settle down in State, but move to South.
Joyce : Orh.....!
PL : Bla bla bla...
Joyce : Bla bla bla......

Afternoon is a bit rushed due to our coach schedule. After dropping Uncle Kuan's car at GH aunt's house, KE fetched us back. Showed her the pool table & carom at 2nd floor. It was a gift from Hong's friend, P. P always contact Hong whenever he is in Malaysia. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth but he is quite stingy in daily life. Even one plate of chicken rice of RM3.50 will be a topic for him because the previous price is RM2.50. Typical German ? But he owns several factories in the world at the age of less than 30 now. His family likes to stay in low profile. By the way, he is married with a pretty British. (or Scottish ?)

Yin has left much earlier in the afternoon, heading to KL. When we were on the coach, she arrived in Pudu. Before we left, still managed to grab one bluetooth headset from Hong.

Our dinner was a 4 dishes with 1 soup with rice at Weld Quay. On the coach, we were sound asleep. Some people cannot have a good sleep on coach but not us. We lost consciousness immediately when we closed our eyes.... Good night.

10 Oct 2005 : Nostalgic

Caught up with some ex-colleagues, resulting in missing them.
An ex-big boss also sent some thought to ponder about.

There is disaster again in one part of the world. Pakistan's earthquake kill. And the death toll is still uprising from 20K to 30K. Emergency preparedness amd response could be a display to some people. When disaster or incident happen, they will regret for the issue of no enough supplies & readiness. World rushes to aid.

星洲 : 柔佛州務大臣拿督阿都干尼矢志在未來5年,全力打造柔南成為服務業先驅及物流中樞,以躋身現代化國際大都會之林。Sometimes, it makes me feel funny on the news.

And 日前公佈的新研究報告說,歐洲兒童血液裡含有多種危險的化學物質,其中有些來自電腦、紡織品、化妝品和家電。 Does it mean that most of us have toxins in our blood due to the high technology ?

9 Oct 2005 : swim...swim..swim...?

Morning, Johor !

Went for a walk in Giant Plentong. The renovation was not completed yet. Some shops such as Sinma, Lavender, Body Shop, FOC, BOC & Focus Point are opening.

Irene brought her 2 kids visiting us. PL invited her to try laksa. Ha... looked at CC's impression. We only knew that they are coming for a "swim" after they stepped into our home. Irene tasted on PL's 1st trial of Penang Laksa. Comments : Not sour enough & need more salt. ;p Same comments as CC's.
After a few hours of watching tv, chatting, looking after the "monsters" (quoted from Irene), we finally settled down in the pool. The monsters were playing with the water for just 30 minutes as Irene was worried with the strong sunlight. They dared not go down to the pool but splashing water & sitting at the edge. But, they said " want to play with water again, want to come here again...". The best time to visit us over the weekend is 4-5pm for a swim if you are afraid of the sun. Irene shared her curry chicken & seafood curry recipe. She also passed PL a few packs of those curry paste that her mom brought from Penang. Every mothers are same. (worried that their daughters are not able to find good food)

Watched 走向共和 halfway. We dropped by at S's place to pass her the Penang Laksa. CC switched the tv channel to 走向共和. So, we had a discussion on China history. CC, the tv maniac, waited till 4.30pm for his 真情. We nearly missed the last episode 大结局 , 588. Our weekend will have less entertainment. S & hubby recommended the same Indian food store near to Hyatt as PL's boss recommended. hmmm.. ...

On our way back, we spotted stalls selling food for buka puasa. Thus, we have the opportunities to try on all sort of Malay food for dinner. yummy...!

S just sms. Her comment : "Your laksa is hot & spicy. My stomach is burning but enjoying it."
Anyhow, the soup is better after boiling for many times.

*sigh* food again !
