everything i want to love.
2 days ago i went to some Old Folks Home where generally most of the people there live with no tomorrow to look forward to. I went there for CIP.
These visits are really wholesome. They make you think and reflect on your life and how you're living it.
For me, i was really fortunate to pick this old lady. My first intention was to just talk to her for a bit to waste time and look like i'm doing CIP.
But upon the first few conversations, i realise that things were becoming more interesting. And aside from the language barrier (she speaks hokkien + chinese? got to get my friend to translate),
the conversation was kinda fun.
She told me her life story about her children running away and her sister asking her to faster die. She did teared a little during the story. Subsequently, with more questions, i learnt that life in the old folks home is really mundane; wake up at 3pm. eat eat eat. then sleep at 8pm.
I also noticed that most of the workers there are foriegn workers and do not work passionately. They were rude and bullied the elderly !
Anyway to conclude. After much reflection on journey from my school to bugis,
I've got two really important lessons that i've learnt in my 18 years of life.
that is:
1) Alyways blame yourself before blaming others.
2) Do not judge.
3) Treat everyone like a 10! (for those who went to FOP 2008 you would know what this means) but anyway in another words, its to treat everyone fairly and well.
