Long time no see!

I just tried to look up our good 'ole blog and whadda ya know?!? It's still here!!! I have reminisced at the old picture of my babies. Even more surprising in this day and age, I still have the same husband. LOL Still two kids who are now 10 and 7! It's very funny because those sweet baby feet behind the title of the blog are now 10 year old stinky feet with some attitude now. I forgot about how much I loved to blog so I may decide to go against the flow and come back home...to blogging!

The Lake Beach

We had recently planned a trip to Texas. We were going to visit Wayne's brother and then drive down to Galveston to the beach. All I have heard all summer from Carter is that he is going to surf at the beach. Well, plans change. We have decided to stay a little closer to home ( which is probably a good thing because the weather looks a little scary there now!).

As a consolation, we took the kids (plus some extras) to Lake Beaver Fork. It is near our house. We didn't swim, but the kids had a blast! Carter asked the next morning, "Momma, when are we going back to that lake beach?"

So, it looks like we might have evaded the beach for another summer. It's not the beach I'm dreading........it's the drive to and from! Eight hours (minimum) trapped in the van with my two kids. SCARY!!!

Tuesday update

I have not forgotten about sweet little Tuesday. And I hope you haven't either. If you haven't checked her family's blog click here.

They are such an amazing family struggling with something no one should have to endure. They are about to set out on a cross country trip from September - February...in an RV! They will be making stops occasionally at pediatric hospitals to raise awareness and money!

She mentioned something on her blog about making tutus to take to the pediatric oncology patients. I have TONS of tulle just waiting to have something and someone made of it. We have just been so busy lately.......I haven't had the time to make tutus. But, even if it is only 5 tutus I get made....it will be better than nothing.

If you can't make something, you can give something. Go to the Whitt family blog. They have a paypal button there. Click on it. Give what you can. This will help fund the cause. Find a cure. No parent should lose their child to cancer.

So get your ass in gear.........and kick cancer butt!!!!

Yes, I know that picture is wrong on so many levels!!!

Have you met our new friend, Boomer?

In my blog slacker mode I've been in lately, I hate that I have failed to introduce Boomer. The kids are in love with him. He came home with us in the middle of June weighing less than 10 pounds. He is now over 30 pounds! I cannot believe it.

The pictures we have of him are in the house. But he is outside. He gets to come in occasionally......to eat my mother-in-law's dog's food and play with the kids. He is a big boy....sweet......but too big for our house.

I guess you can just label me....sucker!

Some of you may recall a few months ago I was unsure if buying the topsy turvy made me a nerd, a sucker or both. Well......I'm a sucker. Look at the pictures below. They were taken when the topsy turvy was new and exciting. And the tomato plant I took such care to plant and nurture was........well.......alive!

Now, look at the damn thing! It is pitiful. It has made three, yes three tomatoes this summer. None of which we have been able to enjoy. The first a kid snatched it off the vine (are they vines). The second, a flippin' bird pecked it all to pieces. And the third, we are still waiting on. So if you ask me....the topsy turvy is a dud. Bummer, I wasted $9.99 on it.

Star Party on Pinnacle Mountain

My mother-in-law heard about the star watching party last week on the radio. The Central Arkansas Astrological Society is a group of people who go to local parks and host star gazing parties. They bring their huge telescopes and their knowledge of the stars and let you enjoy it for free. We headed to the Cock of the Walk restaurant, then off to the after-dark party with our kids. The star gazing was a little disappointing because it was too cloudy. We did, however, get to look at some pretty amazing pictures of some planets and stars taken with their telescopes on another day/night. Carter was a little disappointed until we were heading out to the van and the clouds had parted for a minute and we got to see the moon. It was so clear, you felt like you could touch it. The parties are held every month at Pinnacle...check them out (on a clear day)!

Libby's 1st Haircut

At 20 months, we finally (scratch that...I finally) broke down and decided that Libby was due for a new do. Her little bangs were always in her face.

She was amazing. The girl even commented that she was her best first haircut ever. ( I could have told her that!...but judging from the looks of girl who cut her hair, she probably hasn't been cutting too long). Brudha (aka. brother) even got his hair cut.

Look closely and you can see the hair hanging over her eyes!

All done!

well..........here we are

I don't know what it is about Mother's Day, but I think it seems to put a kink in my blogging life.

Mother's Day? I know what you are thinking...........what the hell is wrong with this lady. It was just Father's Day. But if you have the time, you can scroll back to last year's big Mommy Day. After that entry I had about a 1 or 2 month hiatus. Same thing this year.

We have had a lot going on. We moved again! I know..............AGAIN!!!! I should say. I think the next time I move it may be to the home for the gone crazy mother's ( is there such a thing? and no I don't want to go to the "state" facility.) I don't think I've gone crazy.............do you? Wait, don't answer that. That IS a rhetorical question.

Nearly a month after moving.....I still can't find half of my crap. Which may mean that all of that "crap" isn't all that important, if we've went that long without it. We just got internet yesterday............after going gasp more than a month without it!

This entry is just to tell the 3 people who really check the blog frequently whassup!

Yea! I said it.......well typed it. Either way, it's just as bad.

Mother's Day Celebration

Today Carter had his Mother's Day Celebration at school. They all sang a little song that he has been practicing at home for weeks. They made us some cute little flowers and made the vase. They gave every mommy a t-shirt with their hand print on it. Mrs. Kathy then read what everyone said about their mommies. Here is Carter's:

My mommy's name is..........Mommy.

She is..........4 years old. (i'm sure that would make the fam tree look weird?!)

Her favorite color is........blue (finally a correct answer!!)

I like the way she cooks......bacon.

I like it when my mom......draws with me. (me too)

If I could give her anything in the world, I would give her.....hot sauce. (HUH?)

I love my mommy because.......I can hug her.

Pre Mother's Day Pop Quiz

Okay everyone, we are now going to have a pop quiz. Don't be alarmed. You can do it! This little quiz should make all the mother's feel pretty good.

What does the photo below tell you? (look closely, you may need to enlarge pic)

A. You need more sleep.

B. You need a vacation.

C. You may need the number for a good psychiatrist.

D. All of the above.

The answer..............unfortunately it is probably D, but I would love for a little weekend B (if ya know what I mean).

In case you didn't quite know what I was pointing out in the picture. My son has his pants on backwards. Yes, I said BACKWARDS! I know that gets a little giggle from a lot of you. But the really bad part is that I sat on the edge of my bed and WATCHED him put them on. I reminded him the tag goes on his bottom. I inspected him on the way out the door. I dropped him off at school. Did I notice the fashion faux pas of the entire year at the preschool? Nope.

I picked him up from school and we left just as we usually do. Instead of heading straight home we had packed lunch to take to the local airport to eat and watch the planes.

That is when I noticed it. He just giggled when I questioned him. He looked at the tag in the front of his pants and smiled. He then told me his superman underwear were on backwards also.

Happy Mother's Day a few days early!

Carter's First Field Trip (and KISS!!!)

Carter had his first field trip way back on April 20th. I know we are a little behind. They went to the Heifer International Ranch in Perryville. If you don't know anything about this organization they were founded to help people in 3rd world countries (maybe more, i don't know) to learn how to raise animals and crops to feed themselves. This was to hopefully help stop the cycle of poverty, because eventually they would hope to be a self sustaining nation.

Anywho!!! Check them out.

The tour was very scaled down I'm sure for a group of 3-5 year olds. It was just enough information and just enough entertainment to keep their attention. The kids raised money and bought some animals for some families.

Now on to the kiss. Mr. Carter informed me 2, count them, TWO days after the field trip that his "girlfriend", Bella, kissed him on the bus on the way to the field trip.
I asked him "where?"
He said "On the bus, Momma!"
I said "I know on the bus, but where?"
He replied "ON THE BUS!!!"
I then pointed to my cheek and my forehead and questioned him again. He then pointed to his lips and said "Right here Momma."

What do you do? Do you have the birds and bees talk with a 4 year old? I did tell him that he couldn't do that with Bella until he got married when he was older. So now he tells me that he is going to marry her!

To top it off, Carter confessed the same day(several hours after "the kiss" was revealed) that he and his friend Adam ate stuff from the floor of the bus on the way home. GROSS!!!

My sister in law told me that it was a good thing Bella didn't see him doing that, she probably wouldn't have kissed him!!!

Look how hard Carter had to stretch to get in the bus!!!

Making faces before the long 45 minute bus ride.

Carter standing next to Bella...aka. the girlfriend. GASP!

They took a hay ride across the property.

Briggs and Stratton...water buffalo.

Everyone took a turn petting Annie the goat.

Let's Have a drink, shall we?

This week has been.........shitty, chaotic, out of sorts, stressful, humbling, tearful and joyous all at once. The bad is of course Jim passing and all the planning and preparation for his services. The other thing is that we have all been taking turns staying at their house, because we don't want Mom to stay by herself. We have looked at so many pictures this week and laughed our butts off at a lot of them. (i may have to sneak a few on here)

But the part that makes me want to have a drink is.......................

LIBBY'S SWALLOW STUDY WAS GOOD (4-15-09)! NOT JUST GOOD!!! NORMAL!!!

We tried honey consistency. No aspiration. No penetration.

We tried nectar consistency. No aspiration. No penetration.

We didn't try thin liquids, but we didn't want to push our luck.

So we are going to (I pray) be transitioning to drinking EVERYTHING out of a cup hopefully by the end of the year. Thank you Jesus!!!!!
Thanks for all the prayers. I can't help but feel like her Papa put in a good word for her with the "Big Man".

Just so you know, yes I did take a picture of her with her first sippy cup and of course I'll post it when we are home.

Dear Grandpa,

Do you see this man? (carter took the picture)

This is Jim. A man I am proud to call my father-in-law. I know a lot of people think they have a pretty good one, but not me. I have the best. As of Saturday, I had the best here on earth.

Saturday afternoon, Wayne got a phone call that his Dad had fallen. He immediately left the house to go help, but by the time he got there Jim wasn't. He passed away from what we think will probably be ruled a stroke or heart attack. I went through this at the age of 13 with my dad, but I almost feel that this is harder. I know he was not by blood my father, but he has been "dad" to me for 9 years. I have shared his last name for nearly 5 of those 9 years. The part that makes it harder is watching my husband long for the man that he idolized for 28 years. Having to explain to a 4 year old why we won't see Grandpa anymore. And seeing Libby play like nothing is out of sorts and feeling terrible inside for her because she will never remember this wonderful, wonderful man.

So basically I am trying to pay respect to a man that has made a huge difference in my life. For that, I am grateful.

To everyone who reads this post, please go call your dad and tell him you love him. Even better, go see him and give him a hug AND tell him you love him.

I know there are several people who live in this house who would love to.

It's Official

I'm a nerd.

Or a sucker.

Or, maybe I'm old.

Or, I suppose, it could be all of the above.

This past week, I bought a "Topsy Turvy". You know, the upside down tomato planter. I was so excited about my purchase at Ace Hardware (I feel that is where the "nerd" status comes into play).
Yep, proud owner right here. It was very easy to set up and after 1 day my plants are still alive.

No tomatoes yet, damnit! I'll let you know when the big day gets here.

So, seriously, click on the link. NOW!

Trust me. I'll know if you didn't.....I am a mother and YES I do have eyes in the back of my head. So click away.

Ain't No Sunshine

Okay, tonight I took over the television.

I put my foot down.

We watched nearly an entire episode of American Idol.

This was, I do believe, the most I've watched of it since Reuben. So, yeah, it's been a while. But you know I gotta show some love for Kris Allen. He is from Conway.....I am from Conway. I mean, I can just see it. Kris Allen will become super-famous and then will come home to see his momma (just as all good boys do) and I'll run into him at Kroger or somewhere similar.

Okay, well yes that sounds pretty pathetic, I know, but basically you gotta support the local guy. I don't know how many times I voted, but it was a lot.

And it doesn't hurt that he is damn good too. So help a local brother out and vote!
