Psalm 95:3 Floating Triple Diamond Card

This week's card for the shut ins at my church features another design I saw on Iced Images. You can see the video here: Triple Floating Diamond Card - Bing video. It's called a Floating Triple Diamond Card, and I used the video and the measurements given there to design a cut file in Silhouette Studio. If anyone is interested in the files I've created in Silhouette Studio, you can check them out in the Silhouette Card Making and Papercrafts FB group where I've uploaded the files for free. There are lots of great free files available in that group thanks to the generosity of designers much more talented than I am!

The verse on these cards is from Psalm 95:3. I can't find a version with the exact wording used in the word art I purchased, so I'm thinking it's a paraphrase of the verse. In the NIV, it's written: For the LORD is the great God, and the great King above all gods. This verse really has a double meaning to me. Truly God is above all things and all authorities in the sense that He is sovereign over all creation, and no one can challenge His power and authority. But He also deserves to be worshiped and loved above all things in my life. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can strive to love and serve Him above all other things.

I also used this card design for a sympathy card this week when a friend's husband died unexpectedly. The floral paper was so pretty that I thought it would make a lovely sympathy card. If you change up the paper and add the appropriate sentiment, it could be used for any occasion really.

The finished card folds to fit in a 6X6 envelope. Warning: this cost me $1.23 to mail as it needs to be mailed at the non-machinable rate and is also over an ounce in weight.

Here are a few views of the card from different angles and open and closed:

Proverbs 16:24 Staggered Triple Box Card

I seem to have fallen down the Iced Images rabbit hole recently! Watching a tutorial on making a tiered gatefold card (see my previous blog post) led to watching a video of this staggered triple box card. After watching the staggered triple box card video, I then proceeded to watch another Iced Images video and will let you know how the triple floating diamond card comes out in an upcoming blog post. I'm sure I'll end up watching another dozen or so of her videos as she has some very fun card designs I'd like to try. I also really appreciate how the dimensions for the card pieces are listed at the bottom of her videos so I can easily make Silhouette Design Studio files to cut them out. I prefer to use my Silhouette Cameo rather than hand cut and score all the pieces as I am typically doing sets of cards rather than individual cards and it saves a lot of time to use a cut file for my machine. Here's a link to the video, but I warn you that you may also fall down the rabbit hole!

Proverbs 16:24 is a good reminder to me to be more intentional in sharing kind words with those God puts in my path. Words of kindness and encouragement can make such a difference to someone experiencing a difficult situation or having a rough day. These cards will go to my little group of shut ins whom I send a card to each week, but I also plan to send some to friends who have come alongside me and spoken kind, uplifting words when I needed some encouragement myself. I'm blessed with many wonderful Christian friends and want to be sure they know how much I appreciate them. Is there someone you could share a kind word with today?

Psalm 23:1 Tiered Gatefold Card

Today I have a fun card called a tiered gatefold card. I recently saw a version of this card in a card challenge I entered, so I followed the link and watched a video showing how to make the card. I jotted down the measurements used and created a cut file for the card in my Silhouette Design Studio software. Although I'd like to fine tune it a little (my score marks are off just a bit in some places), I'm happy with the end product. Here's the video I watched (from Iced Images) to give me the instructions/measurements I needed (I didn't add all the layers from the video, but this follows the general idea):

Psalm 23 is such a comforting psalm, and the first verse is one I love to recite when I'm worried or afraid. The Lord is my shepherd, and since He is the perfect shepherd who knows my needs even better than I do, I can trust that I will lack nothing I truly need. I hope that's an encouragement to anyone reading this post. Here are the cards I sent to the shut ins at my church this week using this fold:

Romans 8:28 Gatefold Easel Cards

Happy 4th of July to my fellow Americans out there!

This time I'm sharing a gatefold easel card using a Silhouette Design Studio cut file from Lori Whitlock. I send a card to a group of shut ins at my church every week, and I try to include an encouraging scripture each time. I love this verse from Romans that assures believers that God works all things for the good of those who love Him (the word art is from the Silhouette Design Store and is design number 349939). What peace this truth gives us when facing sorrow, uncertainty, or injustice in our lives!
