Look out Europe, here come the Weber State Wildcats

This year our daughter Kimberly has been in the Weber State Concert Choir, and has really enjoyed that experience. As her parents we have also, it has been a real treat to attend the concerts because they are a REALLY talented choir. Well, she had her last class of the year on Friday, and it was announced that the choir next year will be going on tour to....DRUM ROLL PLEASE..... EUROPE!!!!!!. Obviously she is very thrilled at the idea. They will be going to London, Paris, and Italy. And Dr. Henderson the director has been there and is very familiar with the areas. In fact, most of the places they will be going are his favorites. So they will be doing fundraisers for the next year to earn the money. The plan is for them to leave in mid to late May of 2009
P.S. Kimberly was supposed to post this, but I can't seem to get her to participate.....

Long way from Tennessee

Interesting story ... Marty served an LDS mission to Nashville Tennessee, from 1982-1984. On Saturday, he was going through some keepsakes and found a letter from a family he had know in Tennessee. On impulse he decided to google the name of the mother in the family, and came up with a phone number in California. He had lost track of them because they were a military family and he didn't know where they had moved to, and honestly, it had been 20 + years. But he bit the bullet, called the number and gave his name, asked if she was Mona Trickey. She replied yes, and so he said " This may sound really crazy, but did you ever live in Clarksville Tennessee?" She said " Yes I did, and you are Marty, the one who baptized our family!" Well, needless to say Marty was pleased and shocked that she remembered him so quickly. So then came the reminiscing and the 'what have you been doing' etc. When Marty taught their family, they had 2 children. They baptized the dad, Jeff, and then they ordained him to the priesthood, and he then went into the water and baptised his wife Mona. Obviously this was a very important experience on Marty's mission. As he talked to her, we found out that they had 3 more children, but the interesting thing is they have a daughter who is also named Kimberly. Great minds think alike I say! Their Kimberly is still in high school, so a little younger than ours. Marty was pleased to know that they have stayed active and faithful ever since . It goes to show that you never know the effect of the ripples you send in to other people's lives...

Gary and Debbie

Well, and then the 'month of weddings was not over!! On March 14th, our sister in law Debbie ( Melissa's mom) was married to Gary Higgs. It was a quiet and simple, lovely ceremony at Jodi's house. We hope they will be happy for a very long time to come..

March 2008

Okay, I will try to catch up a little on the happenings in our family. March has been a big month for us. It began with our neice Melissa Turner wedding on March 1. Kimberly was a bridesmaid, and it was a very elegant wedding. After the wedding there was a dance, and Marty and I had a blast dancing! Of course, I couldn't move the next day, but that is the difference in being 20 something and 40 something... Here is a look at the wedding celebration.

Carol and Kimberly. Same school, 24 years apart... Who would have ever thought?!

The Growing Years

After we got married, Marty and I lived in an apartment on Van Buren Avenue, and we lived there until September of 1988 when we bought our home in Clinton. And then in July of 1989 we were blessed with the birth of our daughter Kimberly. She has been the light of our lives ever since. (well most of the time anyway...)

Meet Our Family

I grew up in Clearfield, the youngest child of five. Marty grew up in Redlands California, and Sunset Utah. We both attended Sunset Junior High, and Clearfield High shool, but did not know each other. We were attending Weber State, and the Ogden LDS Institute , and I overheard him tell someone he lived in Sunset, so I asked him if he went to Clearfield, and that was the first time we spoke. That was October of 1984. On February 1, 1985, we had our first date, after a performance with the Institute Chorale. We dated off and on until May, stopped seeing each other for awhile, then in June began dating seriously. We were married on June 12, 1986 in the Salt Lake Temple. That was 1 year to the day from the first time we said those 3 little words....( I love you). Here is a photo from the big day.
