Yes Mom, there's still snow here...

The other day my mom asked me if there was still snow on the ground here. Uh, YEAH, there is. She said she just couldn't believe it because she had been watching the weather here and had seen that it was above freezing for a while now. Well, it has been above freezing, but the stubborn snow is still around. I don't even know if I would call it snow - more like huge chunks of ice. I'm betting it will stick around until at least May. Oh, and a side note, it hasn't really snowed much since that crazy December we had. This is still snow from then... :( Anyway, here are pics to prove it to you, ma.

This first one is of Shawn's house/yard.

Here is a photo of the side of Target store. The pile is still almost as high as the roof! And no, this is not an old photo. I just took it today!!This is to show that even in open fields there is still snow. This is on my commute home the other night on Bigelow Gulch. Here's a shot of a huge pile in a parking lot - with my car for some perspective. Look at that ugly, dirty, gross snow. Reason number 538 why snow is not all that glamorous.

Let's Go Outback Tonight

Tonight Shawn's side of the family all met up at The Outback Steakhouse for some birthday dinner celebrations. Shawn's birthday was a couple of days ago, and both his mom's and his sister's birthdays were today. It was a fun time and some dang good food. Here are a couple pics from the evening. Above is Shawn's niece Jessica, Ryan, and Ashley. This shot is so funny because I told them to smile, and they all ducked at the same time behind each other at the last minute. Uh, I guess they didn't want their photo taken...

And here's the happy couple.

Shawn's Birthday

Shawn's Birthday was this week, and I made him dinner to mark the celebration. He was the first one to be able to use the "you are special today" plate, so I had to commemorate it with a photo.

Anyway, I made halibut and rice for dinner, he opened presents, and then we ate cake! I made a cute little layered one, and it turned out pretty good. It was a little tipsy, but not bad for a rookie baker!

Valentine's Day

Call me crazy, I spent Valentine's Day at a Spokane Chiefs game. I know, I know, far from romantic, but that's okay. It was "buck night" at the Arena, which means dollar hot dogs, dollar pops, and dollar popcorn. Shawn, Ellie and I each had one of each for our festive evening. It was a crazy game, we scored more than any of us had ever seen! The final score was 11-2!

Yuk, Yuk, Yuk!

Somehow, I got an awful cold. It started last Friday and has gotten progressively worse since then. :( Yesterday I stayed home from work, and it was a good thing because all of a sudden it turned into the flu! Yuk. So now I am home again drinking 7up and watching The View. All I want to do is get better, this is no fun!!
