Nathan got straight A's on his report card. We are so proud of him and all of his hard work. He is such a great kid. Jared and I are a little worried, because we both think he is smarter than us! His school held an assembly today for all the kids who made Honor Roll. He got a certificate and coupons for free food at three different restaurants. He was super excited! Way to go Nate!

Corn Maze
We took the kids out to a Corn Maze this past weekend. The weather was SO nice and we had a great time. They got to make homemade ice cream, have rubber ducky races, ride tractors, shoot tennis balls in an air gun, and play in the corn. Of course our highlight was finding our way through the maze. The first one was easy, but the second was a little more difficult. Nathan ended up getting lost by himself for about 30 minutes. Jared climbed up onto a bridge and searched the fields the best he could, but couldn't find him. Finally the lost child emerged with a big grin on his face. What a kid!

FLOOD in Louisiana!
Do you think I need to go pant shopping this weekend....... Look how much my boys have grown!
It was actually a little nippy this morning (in the 50's) and the boys said they wanted to wear pants to school. It was a day that they could actually wear levis instead of uniform pants, so they were excited. I went up to the attic and pulled out their pants from last winter. They tried them on and all I could do was laugh! They ended up wearing their levi shorts and it was okay, because it did get into the high 70's today. Looks like we are going shopping tomorrow!

Halloween Suckers!
My mom and my sisters sent us a great Halloween/"cheer me up" package last week. Inside was our "fun family activity" for the weekend....
The boys had fun painting with chocolate and making the suckers. I honestly don't know how anyone could make them look like they do on the box, but we had fun making them, cleaning up the leftover chocolate, and eating them.
Thanks, Mom, Jessica and Katie!

Fall Activities
Why is it that we as moms feel in order to be "great" in the eyes of our children, we must present them with some fantastic activity? In my attempt to be an awesome mom, we tried some fun activities this weekend.
First, Nathan and Nathan (his great friend) and Joshua made carmel apples. They didn't look that great and actually didn't taste that great (the carmel was a little different), but they liked it and Jared will eat the apples.
Then on Sunday night we decorated our Halloween House. I remember doing this for the first time last year and telling myself "never again" (because of the yucky black frosting) .....fast forward one year and guess what, I gave in. We decided to use mostly orange frosting this time. As you can see it turned out more like a "drippy" Halloween House. Yes, I followed the directions, but the frosting was too runny...and the black frosting, a nightmare all over again. I really think that next year we will need to find a substitute for this activity. The boys had a great time doing it so it was worth it!
All in all my attempt to be a great mom was a success, I think. We will see what I can pull out of my hat for next weekend.
*For those wondering why my boys are shirtless, we are just trying to adapt and become as southern as we possibly can (hee, hee, hee)!
