"The terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day!"

Okay, I have to complain, I just can't stand it anymore. Can I just say, I am so sick of Iowa's weather..... Someone told me yesterday that Iowa stands for: I Owe the World an Apology..... all I can say is Amen! I am so sick of the cold, the negative temperatures, the wind, the snow, the cracks in my fingers, the sand all over the house, the coats and mittens and hats and boots covering the heater outlets, the dirty car, the cabin fever, the dog living in the garage, the heater continually running, and I could go on and on....... Today, they let school out early. The temperature is -24 with wind chill. The snow is blowing so hard (40-50 mph), I can't see anything, and I think the wind is going to blow in our garage door any second now. We need a vacation! (Any one want to come visit anytime soon?)

The prophet of our church, President Gordon B. Hinckley, passed away Sunday night. He was a great man and we will truly miss him.

Our Superstar #9

CLICK ON IMAGE TO MAKE BIGGER

Nathan's basketball season has started. He is excited. We went out and bought him new basketball shoes (all black, a must). Jared takes him to the rec center a couple of nights a week and practices. He practices on Wednesday nights from 8:00-9:00 with his team. I am not too excited about the time, but there are just too many teams and not enough gyms. He has games every Saturday. Today was his first game. He plays on the Nuggets and wears #9. It is a non competitive league, so they don't keep score and they let the kids get away with a lot (like double dribbles, traveling, 3 second violations, etc.) He got a lot of rebounds and a few assists. He played awesome defense. Way to go Nate!

And the winner is.........

ENGLAND!

Okay, it looks like the majority of you voted for England. That was our number 2 pick, but we did list Louisiana as number 1. None of this makes a difference though, as the Air Force makes the final decision. We find out March 1st, and we will let everyone know. Keep your fingers crossed.

Need I say more............

The boys played for hours and hours, and stayed in their jammies for hours and hours.

We needed one of these days, or should I say, Mom needed one of these days!

Where would you want to live?

Okay, so we got our list of Endodontist openings at Air Force Bases in July. Our choices are:

1. Yokota AFB; Tokyo, Japan
2. Kadena AFB; Okinawa, Japan
3. Lakenheath AFB; Cambridge, England
4. Barksdale AFB; Shreveport, Louisiana

We don't get to choose, but we rank in order where we want. We will find out March 1st. I must say I am really not excited about any of the choices, and going over seas scares me. I thought I would take a poll to see where all of you would live if you could. So everyone vote, so I can see what you all think....

Happy Birthday Jared

(To the Happy Birthday song:)

Happy Birthday to you!
You're not 22!

You're still very handsome.
And we all love you!

Jared turned 35 today! Boy are we getting old. He had to work, so the boys and I went and picked him up for lunch. We ate at Chicago Pizza. He got everything a guy would want. The "Planet Earth" DVD set and some tools. To culminate his big day we ate smore's cheesecake, compliments of Chef Joshua, with a little help from mom.

Happy Birthday Sweetie!

Our Ice Skating Adventure....

We decided to take the kids ice skating for New Years. We were all excited. This would be the first time for Jared, Nathan, and Joshua, so I was sure I would out skate them all. Let's just say, I am not as young as I used to be and I totally forgot what it was like to be on ice skates. I did okay for about 10 minutes, and then I did a nice graceful belly flop. My knee hurt and I had a nice hematoma on my wrist. I sat down and decided that my skating experience was over. After taking pictures, I headed to Target while the boys had fun. Now, as for the boys, they did great. Nathan is a natural. He took right to it and I hardly saw him fall at all. He had a blast. Joshua struggled, but wasn't scared at all. He would skate, fall, and then get right back up and try again. Between Jared, and a nice lady and her daughter, Joshua was covered for lessons. He informed me after he was done, that his "bottom was bruised for sure". Jared also did great, and of course didn't fall once. He was so patient with the Joshua and helped him the whole time. By the end Jared, pretending to be 18 again, was skating in and out of people going as fast as he could. The boys have decided that they want to do it again, but mom will be sitting the next one out.
