Sam got his wish!

We are having another boy!! Sam HAD to wear a blue shirt to school today and told everyone that we were going to see his baby brother at the Dr. (This was before we actually knew what we were having.) We are very excited and so is Sam!

Update!

I've been a bad blogger lately, but Sam has said some inappropriate things that shouldn't be blogged. Let's just say that he is ALL BOY.

He is still very much on the "boys can, girls can't" kick, but is a little nicer about it now. We find out the sex of the baby on Monday, and he still wants a brother but is softening on the sister idea. By softening, I mean that he is not throwing himself on the floor and screaming "I WANT A BROTHER, NOT A SISTER" and just politely saying "no" to the sister idea.

New Things Sam Says:

He is a very verbal child and has talked in complete sentences for a while now, but my favorite new sayings are "you memer?" (You remember?) and "know what?" He'll say "Know what? Where is my football? He cracks me up because everything is out of context, but it is so amazing to see him learning so many new things every day!

Fun Stuff

Sam got in the bed with us yesterday morning, and he was holding a stuffed animal. He asked where it's belly button was, and I told him that it didn't have a belly button. He said, "Oh, it's an angel. Angels live at the zoo." What??? We then had the discussion about what angels were and where they really lived.

He's still on the boy vs. girl kick, and tells me all the time that I can't say fun stuff. John is playing softball with our church, and we were talking to Sam about it. Sam said that he wanted to play. I asked him if I could play, and he said, "No Mama. You just sit there and watch me. Bebe just sits there and watches me, too." SO, girls are still at the bottom of his totem pole. ( I hope he feels that way when he's 16.) He really wants a brother, too. He says that we can't keep a sister, he needs a brother. We'll see how that goes.

Kicked Out of the Club

So.... I have been kicked out of the club. My house has become a "boys only" club, and I am not invited. Sam has become very fond of saying certain words and phrases in very funny ways. When I try to repeat what he says, he says "Mama, girls can't say that, only boys can say that." Seriously??? He's 2. He visited my parents this past weekend, and they built towers with markers. He and "Pop" called them "tower of power" (imagine in a very masculine way. I really need to get a video on here.) I tried to build one with him and say "tower of power" and was quickly reminded that girls can't say that, only boys.

At least he's not too old to refuse kisses and hugs in public and sometimes a cuddle!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Yay! Sam is going to be a big brother! We are so excited and happy to share the news. Sam doesn't really know what's going on, but he changes his mind about 3 times a day about wanting a brother or a sister. We'll see what happens!

H I J K

As most parents and teachers do, when John and I are talking to each other and don't want Sam to know what we are talking about, we spell the words. John was fixing Sam lunch today and asked me if he should make Steam and M-A-S-H. (very easy sweet potatoes or mashed potatoes). He spelled mash, and Sam said, "I need H I J K." Ha ha! Funny kid.

No More Pancakes

Sam usually talks nonstop when we go to school in the mornings. He was unusually quiet this morning, and I actually checked a few times to see if he was asleep. He was just sitting and looking out the window. Anyway, one of my favorite songs, "I Will Rise," came on the radio and I was singing a long. It is an amazing song and usually brings tears to my eyes. As I was singing, I heard the sweetest thing I have ever heard in my life. Sam was also singing the song! I just stopped and listened to him for a while. Part of the song says, "I will rise when He calls my name. No more sorrow. No more pain...." As Sam was singing, he sang, "I will rise when He calls my name. No more sorrow. No more pancakes..." I was crying and laughing at the same time! He just kept singing and enjoying himself. I really don't think I'll ever forget that moment. It was one of the sweetest things I've ever heard.
