Watercolor paper prices and soaking up the atmosphere at the downtown art store. They've moved into a basement, bigger than the store front they had on King street, and still manned by such artistic young people. The young lady at the register..gave this old grey haired old woman the 'student' discount because I was patient... LOL I was pleased it was a student discount and not a 'senior' discount... Paper seemed a bit high, but not horrid with my 'discount' LOL

The weekend is almost here... woo hoo... drew my little dog today, his nose is not that snippy looking... it was hard to mix a good black... but all in all I'm not too unhappy with it... and Stoney thinks it looks GREAT... but then he thinks everything I do is great... LOL

Off to the den to play with some paint. The eagle is from my screen saver... I kinda like how he turned out... the cat tails are from the pond that's full of dragonflies

Just so everyone knows, I pretty much HATE bugs of all kinds, but I do love the little pond that these dragonflies are inhabiting these past few weeks. I walk down there to hopefully catch site of an Egret or Blue Heron, and there are deer that come for a drink there too... but lately the only thing around is these bugs. I haven't drawn them too well, mostly because the bugs are flitting about so fast I can't see much detail except the colors.

The glass bead community is at each other throats on the forums again.... same song different verse. Such a shame really. I'm out of the loop these days and maybe that's a good thing. It is so hurtful but I don't think a lot of those folks have a clue how much it hurts,,, People will say things in the virtual safety of the internet that they would never in a million years say to a person's face. On a happy note I'm pretty pleased with these flowers I just drew and with my new Ott lite that arrived today..

PJC Summer Soltice Ride Map
Spent today riding around in the forest to figure out the route for the group to take tomorrow. I drew this map to hand out to the members tomorrow... rained all day today, so there should be plenty of puddles for the Jeeps tomorrow.

Watched a really cool video on Danny Gregory's blog site, it showed Picasso painting on a piece of glass... doing birds, and other stuff... his simple lines are so compelling... the yellow bird was my attempt at a 'Picasso' inspired bird. Go watch the video... it is amazing.

I have a little glass dragon sitting atop a red poly clay pedestal, he has evil looking yellow eyes and a goofy smile... pale amber glass wings. So with the blank page winning the battle again today... I drew my little dragon way bigger on the page than he really is.

Long day today, not much time to draw. Today is the one year anniversary of the Fire that killed 9 firemen. Such a tragic loss of life that everyone is remembering today.

EDM Challenge #176 Draw Summer stuff... so girl under a beach umbrella came to my mind. This was my first attempt at a person... mis-matched arms and a very odd skin color aside.. it sorta looks like a girl don't you think.

I wish I had a t-shirt like this... I do love my little scooter and not just because it gets 110 mpg... but that helps.

Raining this afternoon, did manage to get one coat of stain on the desk and get it moved indoors before the rain started. Started working on the living room this weekend, so I drew my pry bar that I used all day today.

I've been looking on-line at drafting tables, I wanted something I could use for painting. Went to Office Depot and Staples this morning, they had nothing suitable in the store. I went to the unfinished wood furniture store and there hidden among the children's furniture was this adjustable drafting table. It's on the front porch while I stain it and varnish the top... It was exactly what I wanted.

Very sad to hear about Tim Russert's sudden death today.... so sad for his son to lose his Dad just before Father's Day. Three years ago, I spoke to my Dad on the phone, wishing him a happy Father's Day, and told him I loved him, 2 weeks later my father died, ever since Father's Day is a bitter sweet day for me... as I'm sure it will be for Tim's son., So in we chucked the diet and ordered take-out Pizza for dinner.

Tried a couple of things, learned a few too... like cover your sky before you 'spatter' the sand :-) and my horizon was so empty and dull I just had to add a silly little sailboat right ready to fall off the edge. Sometimes I think it might be more fun to draw cartoons has anybody noticed my 2008 faces? I wonder?

Just fooling around with my new brush. Had to go grocery shopping tonight and vote in our state primary election, so not much time to draw. Two of my candidates are going to win... two are not... can't win um all I suppose.

Sign of getting old I suppose, remembering when gas was 25 cents a gallon and there were 'service' stations, that actually did service, maybe sold coffee or a glass bottle of Coca-cola for a nickel and cigarettes were 25 cents a pack and you could smoke them anywhere... I wonder what gas will cost when my grand-daughter Ashton starts driving?

EDM # 174, draw a bridge, I drew the foot bridge in Azalea Park in Summerville SC. Started a new handbook Journal today, this one is Portrait format and almost double the size of my little square journal I just finished. It's going to be fun filling the pages. Got my Kate Johnson books yesterday, they both look great... now I've gotta read um.

Today is the one year anniversary of the removal of my right kidney and the clear cell carcinoma tumor inside. Every Day Really does Matter, I've had a great year this year, and I'm looking forward to next year. This poem is anonymous, so I took the liberty of adding a few verses of my own to it.

My 2 brushes I ordered from Kalish came today... I can already tell the difference. Quality absolutely first quality... now I'm scared to use them LOL and I now want to buy a couple of round ones too.
I'm going to bite the bullet tomorrow will be the last entry in this journal (my first) and a special anniversary for me... fitting day to end this journal and start a new one.

Plein Aire class was originally supposed to meet here, instructor was concerned it might rain so class moved indoors did a quick try at the fountain in this pond, shooting water like that beyond my ability. Class will meet again Wednesday then that's the end. Kind of sad since we found out the instructor will not be teaching any more classes as she's going back to school herself.

Well I thought I knew how to do a color chart... obviously I don't... guess I'll read up on it a little more and try again later... as with everything else, this looks easier than it really is.

Full day today, with little time to draw... I need more hours in the day. Wish I'd thought of some grand finish to the every day in May challenge... just a can full of brushes that need washing.

Busy day at work, did the draw something from memory EDM challenge, I do believe I see these things in my sleep LOL
