Carlos has decided to take a break for now from the flying part of aviation and is going to first work on getting a degree in Aviation Administration and then go back and finish the rest of the flying. It was a hard decision to make but it’s been so nice to have him around more often. His classes are still online so he’s able to do that here from home and doesn’t have to go into Provo three mornings a week for flight lessons.
He’s had a lot of projects he’s wanted to get done and this has given him a little more time to accomplish them. Last fall we finished one of the bedrooms downstairs so that his mom could stay with us and we’ve been wanting to do more.
So, a couple of weeks ago we built two very little storage rooms into our family room. The family room, while still unfinished, is large enough that adding those rooms on still left us plenty of space. The first one is at the bottom of the stairs and it’s our food storage room. We insulated and dry-walled it but aren’t going to finish it anymore than that. We did put shelves in and while it’s small, with good organization, it will fit a lot of food.
Here our little helper is taking measurements!
And so you see, Austin, this is where the other shelves will go…
Papi, you are making WAY too much noise with those cutting machines!

No, really. Could you keep it down?!?!
Progress.
Carlos didn’t want to be in the pictures and even though I got some of him, I won’t put them on. You do get the privilege of seeing his arm.
More shelves…
….and we’re done!
It definitely looked like we had more food storage when it was all stuffed into a smaller space. So it looks like I need to be diligent (is that word applicable to me???) in planning purchases and using all of the resources available online for finding killer deals on groceries and other things. I will conquer! I will! I will!
We also filled up our two big blue water containers today and feel better about that. We’ve had one that’s been empty since we moved and we got another one at Macey’s during their case lot sale. So, we’re on the slow road to emergency preparedness and self reliance!
Thanks for tuning in!
