Caleb's first trip - Taipei, Taiwan

It was Caleb's virgin trip on a flight, SQ to Taipei. But it wasn't a good timing though because it was Taiwan's typhoon season & they had their worst in 50 yrs few days ago. We are hoping to bring our SINGAPORE Sunshine to Taiwan with us :D

Day 1 [13 Aug 09 Thursday]
It was still raining when we arrived. So disappointed that we can't go to the night market as planned. Well, nothing pretty much went as planned with a baby in tow. So we explored the underground shopping at Taipei Main Station which is just below our hotel.

Our early SQ flight to Taipei. Caleb naps in the bassinet not long after take-off. And playing with the inflight controller when awake.

Our Hotel - Caesor Park Taipei. Good choice as it was just above Taipei Main Station and there are lots of eateries around. Forgot to mention that they upgraded us to a suite... haha how lucky !

First ride in the "sack".

Day 2 [14 Aug 09 Friday]
We went hunting for breakfast in the morning around the vicinity of the hotel. Instead we stumble upon the 228 Memorial Park / National Museum by chance. Ummm, nothing fantastic... just a park. Weather is dry, hot & hazy. But we just let Caleb run for a while.

Running amok at 228 Memorial Park

Wu fen pu @ noon- yea... we (mummy & daddy) simply love it! Too bad we can't stop & explore carefully. It has to be a touch & go. But we are really blessed as Caleb has been a very good. Considering the heat & he hasn't nap for the whole day. Love this boy! muack!

Shilin Night market @ night- OMG , it is soooo crowded. Maybe cos it's a Friday night. We rarely see so much people in SG... maybe Swing Singapore back then.. ahaha. Indeed an eye-opener. But really not too suitable to bring kids. Caleb was sooo tired that he fell asleep in the sack... despite the noise, the crowd (jostling), the heat.

We decided-no more night markets. It was good enough to experience the biggest & most popular one. But i guess we should have gone to Raohe night market. Couple of friends feedback was good & not that crowded. We'll KIV that for the next time.

Day 3 [15 Aug 09 Saturday]
~ Our Day tour to the Northcoast of Taipei~

1st stop @ Keelung Temple with the view of Keelung Harbour.

Next stop to Yeliu- HOT HOT HOT! Burning. Furnace. Desert. DO NOT TRY this in Summer esp with kids. But our darling continues to amaze us with his good behaviour.

It was a reaaaaally long walk from the carpark to the coast. Caleb has already KO-ed in the van when we arrived & continues to sleep (perched on daddy's wet shoulders) until we reach the coastline. Goodness, it's a good 20mins or so (and it seems to take forever) and it's swelting hot. We were perspiring like waterfall & craving badly for aircon & coke... Despite the short & uncomfortable nap, they boy remains chirpy when he woke up... what a darling!

"Fireplace" Yeliu

Ximenting @ evening- hmmm... i thought well, Ximenting is oh so over-rated! Disappointing. Nothing fantastic at all. Well, it is suppose to the hype; a happening place- just like our Orchard Road. I will stick to Orchard. We pack takeaway KFC back to the hotel. The crispy chicken is A-star, so are the egg tarts!

Streets of Ximenting

And the darling is still chirpy after the long arduous day!

Day 4 [16 Aug 09 Sunday]
We are undecided where to go in the morning. We plan to go back to Wu fen pu again as we have not achieve the optimum shopping satisfaction yet. But while travelling in the train we decided to enroute Taipei 101. Came to a conclusion that we should be visiting different/more places since we fly all the way here la.

Window shopping @ Taipei 101. We missed the observatory area at 5th floor... zaaaa.

Danshuei/Fisherman's Wharf @ evening- ARRGH, Daddy left the digicam at the hotel & only realise after 30 mins on the train to Danshuei !!! Growl...Aren't the cam the most impt at such scenic places. So we had to rely on mummy's poor 3.2 megapixel Sony ericsson handphone which is running loooooow on the batt (red blinker is on!). Damn, should have bought the 8 megapix handphone before the trip. Haiz.

Also too bad we have to skip the Danshui 老街 as it is nearing Caleb's dinner. Anyway, we saw a SEA of heads. So better not to be so gungho.

Few miserable blurry shots @ Lover's bridge & Fisherman's Wharf.
Day 5 [17 Aug 09 Monday]
After we checked-out at 12pm, we were back at Ximenting. Only one stop from Taipei Main Station. The last visit left us thinking ... " THAT IS IT ???? Did we miss something? ". We have to find out. And yes, finally we are convinced that there is nothing more. Hai. But at least this time we tried the "chua-bing"... kows, it was a gigantic one with lots of mango for just abt SGD3.50. Portion is bigger than the swenson's 8-scope ice-cream (forgot the name.. volcano??)
Went on to the next stop @ Long-san Temple.

Last but not least ... @Long San Temple and taking train back to hotel.

HOME SWEET HOME

It's a tiring & back-breaking trip for Daddy (especially) & Mummy. This is so different from what it was with just the 2 of us. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the holidaying with our darling. Caleb has been a very good boy throughout the trip (love love) EXCEPT when it comes to what-else-but EATING. But then, this is always a problem ha. Not to fret, we have Por Por to fatten him up again after the trip.. haha.

And yes, forgot to mention that we DID bring sunshine to Taipei with us. It started to rain when we hop on the hotel limousine to airport ... SUNNY SINGAPOREANS! :D

Our flight back to S'pore. Caleb enjoying Lady Gaga on the headset :D

Ohaiyo Japan... we are ready,, here we come!!!
