We’re all ready for today’s New Year’s Eve festivities! I may have over planned activities to make up for last year’s lackluster New Year’s Eve.

December 30

Lucy and Abbie had fun playing together yesterday.

Yesterday was Clay’s first day back at work.



I spent a good chunk of my day creating yearbook pages for co-op. 


Grandpa and Lulu were in town for the night so we grabbed dinner.

December 29

Happy Birthday Nonna!

Clay replaced our faucet yesterday. The other one was making weird noises. I haven’t decided if I like the looks of this one, but it’s more practical because there is no tubing getting caught on things under the sink. Also, it’s taller, so it is easier to wash bigger dishes (or a sink piled high with dirty dishes). 

Elliott and Brandon have been doing jiu jitsu together for years. Brandon hasn’t been in the gym in awhile though. Hard to believe he’s only 15 months older than Elliott.

December 28

We have a working microwave again!

Clay and I took Elliott, Lucy, and Braxton to the zoo yesterday afternoon. It was over 70 degrees outside! 

Kat had plans to cook with Aunt Nikole last night and Julia had her first day of work. She scooped a lot of poop, but she also got to play with puppies and she liked her co-workers. 

December 27

We (ahem… Clay) researched microwaves, went to Lowe’s, found the one that we wanted and then had to drive across town to a store that actually had it in stock. The old microwave, like many other things in this house, was Jerry-rigged to work. The new microwave’s cord isn’t long enough to Jerry-rig (plus Clay likes to do things right), so he had to figure out which circuit he can use to create a new outlet in the cabinet above the microwave. So we woke up today with the microwave attached to the cabinet/wall, but it’s not actually working yet. Another home improvement project that seemed simple, but took way longer than expected. 

On the upside, I didn’t have to cook yesterday. The kitchen was a mess.

In case you wanted to know what Clay will look like at 60. Ha! This was when he was getting ready to go up into the attic. He used the old pool pump wiring to create the new outlet for the microwave. He’s pretty handy around the house.

December 26

Lucy is at the age when she doesn’t think Santa is real, but she’s not 100% ready to not believe either. So she asked Santa some questions.

Clay cooked steaks for dinner. Yum!

Our Christmas ended with our microwave dying. So I guess we are going shopping for a new one. Ick!

Only in KY…a bourbon barrel Christmas tree

Clay and I took Julia, Elliott, and Lucy ice skating. Kat decided that she would rather help Mamaw cook and play Monopoly with Mamaw and Bapaw. The rest of us had fun (except Clay who said the skates hurt his ankles, so he sat out). 

December 23

Gus is protecting the tree/gifts

Lucy spent the day with Mamaw, Bapaw, and Abbie.

Julia was out with Raymond, so it was just Kat, Elliott, Clay, and me at home for the day. I beat them all in Monopoly (for maybe the first time ever).

We completed a puzzle.
