Elliott got his first Covid vaccine after church. Clay took him for a treat afterwards.

Julia drew this picture of Raymond. She is so talented!

Yesterday was Kat’s last day at Kentucky Kingdom for the season. She and her fellow Guest Services friends cried throughout the day because they will miss each other. She has already figured out that she will get to work there again in 7 months.

Elliott had a cross country meet yesterday in Paris…. Kentucky. It was 60 degrees and drizzly. It was his first 4K. He finished it in 21:27. We took Lucy with us to the meet and then went to Lexington for lunch.

Julia and Kat stayed home, slept in, and then went to the mall together yesterday. Julia needed a dress for her Beta Club/National Honor Society induction ceremony in a couple of weeks.

Friday night, Julia, Kat, and Elliott hung out at Kentucky Kingdom together for a few hours. And last night Clay took Elliott, Kat, and one of Kat’s friends to a Haunted House.

Lucy went to an Oktoberfest with our neighbors last night.

Fun weekend! I love the Fall!

Diagramming sentences is for the birds; but don’t let Elliott know I said that.

September 22

Lucy and I enjoy our quiet Tuesdays, just the two of us. I kicked her butt in chess.

After school was done, we went through winter clothes.

She made us pumpkin pancakes for lunch.

Look who stopped by for a quick visit! It made my heart happy to see Jonathan! He’s now in college!!! I am not sure how, considering he’s only six years old.

Kat loves being on the stage. Ha!

Chemistry fun. This is Kat’s favorite co-op class. She has never really liked science before. This is either due to A- I have almost always been her science teacher or B- Chemistry is almost all math, which she excels at.

September 19

Lucy wanted to give me a pedicure. I did give the poor girl a tip for having to touch my nasty old feet.

We all went out for dinner, which was nice. Afterwards we walked around a Halloween store to look at costumes.

September 18

We had Nora for the evening, so we took her to Elliott’s cross country meet.

Elliott finished in 15:37.

Thankfully Julia and Kat stayed home with Clay. He had rented a grass seeder and spent the entire day working in the yard. He found another yellow jacket nest and got stung multiple times. While we were at the meet, he responded to a text saying he wasn’t feeling good. His arm was swollen and his mouth was really dry. Julia ran and got him Powerade and Kat babysat him to make sure he was okay. He definitely overdid it.

I took Elliott, Lucy, and Nora to a balloon glow. They were more excited about the playground until they realized that each balloon had trading cards. They loved collecting those.

Happy 44th Anniversary Mamaw & Bapaw!
Happy 10th Anniversary Joe & Nikole!

Hi

Lucy decided she was ready for Halloween decorations, so I let her pull the few things I have out of storage. She decided she needed more for her room, so she made some.

Clay got a new lawn mower. It got pretty dirty the first use because he has killed a lot of the weeds in our yard, leaving it pretty bare in spots. The good news is that this mower can bag leaves!!! He has to bag the grass for his next mow and then this weekend plans to reseed the yard. I cannot tell you how many hours he has researched grass and this process. He’s a research nerd! And lucky me, I get to hear about all that he has learned.

September 16

Another fun Wednesday night at church.

Julia couldn’t go to youth group because she had her first college fair at school. Clay went with her. I don’t know how it’s possible that we’re talking college. This baby just started kindergarten!

Next month Clay is taking her on a scheduled tour of UK’s campus and a scheduled tour of the College of Engineering. Starting this year, UK has Aerospace Engineering! How is that for timing!?!

She also chatted with University of Alabama at Huntsville, which has a very strong Aerospace Engineering program. We need to schedule a tour there as well.

She is a hard worker and is an excellent student. I am excited for her fly the nest and see what she does!
