April 30

Julia and Mamaw went shopping yesterday. Julia is going to two different Sweet 16 birthday parties in May that have semi-formal attire.

Lucy is learning about gallons, quarts, pints, and cups in math. She is a visual learner, so I pulled out examples.

April 28

Clay got the second covid vaccine on Monday. He woke up yesterday with a headache so he stayed home for a few hours hoping it would go away. At the 24 hours mark, he took some Excedrin (which usually works on his headaches) and headed to work. The Excedrin didn’t help the headache. He went to bed with flu-like symptoms, but woke up this morning feeling fine.

Lucy reading while Abbie is in gymnastics class. Unfortunately they aren’t in the same class, so each girl spends an hour hanging out while the other is in class.

At the end of Lucy’s lesson the coach brought out the parachute and let Abbie come in to play too.

Y’all. I was busy running Elliott to jiu jitsu and wrestling open mat. Then I got caught up with the neighbors. While I was out, Julia took care of the dishes without being asked. What a blessing!

April 27

We finished up our co-op astronomy lesson early, so we spent some time outside enjoying the sunshine and drawing constellations with chalk.

Clay and Kat filling out her tax forms so she can schedule orientation. My baby’s growing up!

April 26

Kat’s 9th grade small group from church (plus Bethany) went out for lunch.

Kat found out yesterday that she got hired to work for Guest Services at Kentucky Kingdom. She is a little nervous, but I think she will enjoy it and I am hoping it will be a good experience for her.

Elliott spent yesterday/last night with Mamaw and Bapaw.

Leanna spent the night with us and Lucy spent the night at her house with Amelia.

April 24

Lucy came out of the bathroom with face paint trying to look like this clown. Yikes!

Kat had her second interview last night. She felt like it went well. They asked several math questions, which makes us think they are likely to place her at a job dealing with money. After we picked Julia up from work, I took the two teens swimsuit shopping and we had success! Hallelujah!

Art class with Abbie on Wednesday

Lucy was excited to mop the floor for her chore. I am not kidding.

Elliott’s wrestling banquet was last night.

April 20

At co-op, the astronomy kids have finished learning about all 8 planets and documenting what they have learned on interactive fans. The kids finished them yesterday! This school year is coming to a close soon!!

It was a busy day that included co-op for us/in-person school for Julia, dropping off/pick up Kat to clean for a few hours at Charlotte’s house (our older friend that Julia used to sew quilts with), a piano lesson for Lucy, picking up Julia’s new glasses, and jiu jitsu for Elliott.

Clay took Kat, Elliott, and Lucy to the lake to fish with Bapaw yesterday. They caught 19 keepers.

April 18

Lucy spent Friday night and part of yesterday at Clara’s house.

Kat also spent Friday night at a friend’s house. We only had two kids in the house! It was so quiet!

Julia had an eye appointment yesterday. For the first time ever, her prescription improved! Now that she’s done growing, her prescription has leveled out.

After Julia’s appointment, she worked a six hour shift. She averages 5 six-hour shifts each week.

Nikole and Nora came over for a few hours yesterday.

Nora and Clara helped Kat make cookies.

And last but not least, Elliott and Clay worked on a model rocket kit.

April 17

Lucy’s mean astronomy teacher (aka ME) assigned the kids to use the planets and sun they painted in class to display the solar system. I love how hers turned out! They will all bring their solar systems in the last week of co-op to share with the class.

Lucy and Abbie’s chia (grass) pets they started during spring break.

Fun at the playground

Grandpa Tim got to come home from the hospital yesterday!

April 16

As part of Lucy’s science lesson on Neptune, learning about the freezing temperature of different liquids, we made homemade ice cream in a bag using whipping cream, vanilla, powdered sugar, rock salt and ice. They had to shake their bags for awhile, then voila! Ice cream.

Grandpa Tim was much better when I talked to him yesterday. He’s no longer on IVs or oxygen. He may be going home today!

April 15

Happy Birthday Mamaw Pat!
Happy Birthday Jessica!

Grandpa Tim is going to be in the hospital for at least a couple of days. He’s not improving yet, but he’s not getting worse! That’s a good thing. Lulu is holding steady too. Keep them in your prayers!

I have reached the age/stage where I need a detailed list or I forget
. Yesterday was one of those days I couldn’t forget anything, and everything to be done at a certain time or it threw everything off schedule. We all survived. Lucy said she was worn out. Ha! Must be hard sitting in the van playing with your cousin.

April 14

Elliott, Abbie, and Lucy watching/participating in Abbie’s class’s virtual talent show.

Kat had a virtual group interview yesterday afternoon. She feels good about it. Next step (if Kentucky Kingdom liked her first interview) is to bring her in for an in-person interview. I am proud of her for getting this far. She had to make a resume, fill out an application, and have her first job interview. Go Kat!

Please pray for my dad (Grandpa Tim) and Lulu. Both tested positive for covid. She’s doing okay. I think the worry over dad is worse on her than her covid symptoms. Dad was feeling so bad that he went to the hospital (he HATES hospitals). They kept him overnight to give him IV fluids and put him on oxygen. The update I heard today is that he’s feeling slightly better, but the hospital is going to keep him a couple more days. They were supposed to get their vaccine today.

April 13

Astronomy class finished the outer planets.

Elliott’s Think! Class (a STEM class) was given the challenge of building the largest structure they could with the supplies they were given (spaghetti and marshmallows).

Raymond invited Kat along on a social activity for Kentucky Kingdom employees and potential employees. She has an interview with them this afternoon.

Can’t take these two anywhere!

Lucy was watching a cartoon, paused it, and drew this! I am impressed.

Julia and Raymond made kabobs for dinner. Yum!
