March 31

Julia spent the night with Mamaw Pat last night. They paid Old Mamaw a visit this morning.

March 30

Ava and Asher helped make homemade chocolate-covered peanut butter eggs.

Sadly, we had to get rid of Lucy’s mouse. He had a terrible smell. We scrubbed the cage, tried different bedding, and bought a spray that was supposed to help. He was stinking up the whole house. He smelled so bad that even she wasn’t that sad to see him go. Thankfully we are taking care of a friend’s hamster, so Lucy’s getting plenty of rodent snuggles.

We didn’t do anything special for our first day of spring break. Having a break from school was nice. I got next week’s school prepped, got my van washed and vacuumed, went grocery shopping, and swapped Elliott’s winter clothes for summer clothes. Hopefully the rest of the week will just be spent relaxing.

March 29

After church, we went out for lunch. Teens are sooo cooperative for photos. Turds.

Ava and Lucy putting on makeup.

Clay and I put out 30 bags of mulch. We still need more, but we ran out of mulch and energy.

March 28

Elliott went to his friend Brookston’s birthday party.

While Julia was at work and Elliott was at the party, we took Lucy and Kat shopping. Lucy is easy to please. A new pair of sandals for summer? Done. Kat needs shorts and shirts. We went to four stores. FOUR stores!!! She got two t-shirts. She is so picky. She may have to become a nudist this summer.

March 27

After school was finished, we got Lucy’s winter clothes swapped out for summer clothes. I ran out of steam to fight Elliott on trying clothes on. We’ll tackle that another day.

The library is now open! I have been doing curbside pickup for a year. It was so nice to go inside and look at books. There are no programs, story times, etc., but we can go inside now to browse.

I may have bribed people with ice cream if they went to the library with me. Kat said we had ice cream at home and she already has books.

March 26

This girl doesn’t like me to take her picture so I have to be sneaky. Kat just got her third quarter report card from CEC and has an A+ in Spanish 2 and Geography, and an A in Pre-Calculus. We signed her up for next year’s classes. She will be taking Calculus, English, and Computers as a sophomore. We have decided to put Elliott in a few classes next year as well. He will take English, Science, and a Middle School Computer class there. The rest of their classes will be taken at co-op.

Lucy joined Abbie for art class yesterday. This week Abbie’s school started on a new schedule for the remainder of the year. They have gone to a hybrid model, with the choice of staying virtual. Abbie is going to finish the year out with virtual school. The three days she is with us, she has very little schoolwork until after 1pm, which is when Elliott and Lucy are done. So while they are doing school, she has little to do. When they are ready to play, she can’t. We are all over it. Done. 8 weeks to go! Wish us luck!

March 25

While Kat was at youth group, Lucy played on the church playground. She got hot and decided a slushee would help cool her down. Poor kid had been stuck in the van for nearly two hours dropping Julia off at work, picking Kat up from school, and taking Elliott to kickboxing. A slushee made everything better. It was so nice to watch kids playing on a playground together, laughing, playing, etc.

Jonathan decided he needed to rehome his pet mouse before he heads to college. Lucy decided she wanted the responsibility. She has named him Jack Jack.

March 23

Astronomy class painted the sun and inner planets.

Then we did an activity to help them understand distances in our solar system. This is if the sun was the size of a dime. Neptune is way out to the left.

We had cookies with icing and sprinkles for everyone at the end of the co-op day.
  • After co-op, Elliott and Lucy went home with friends for a couple of hours.
  • Kat and I dropped Julia off at work and then grabbed lunch.
  • Came home and put away all co-op stuff and prepped astronomy class.
  • Picked Elliott and Lucy up from friends’ house and then took Lucy to piano lesson.
  • Dropped Lucy off at home, picked Jack up, and dropped both boys off for jiu jitsu.
  • Cooked dinner.
  • Had about 20 minutes to rest and then picked Julia up from work while Clay cut the grass.
I am looking forward to Spring Break next week as much as the kids (maybe more)!

March 22

This made me giggle seeing how dressed up little girls get for church vs big girls.

We had beautiful spring weather all weekend.

Elliott took Jack, Braylon, and Brock to church last night for Nerf Wars with about 30 other middle school boys.

March 21

We spent the first day of spring grocery shopping, pulling weeds, and cleaning out the garage. As a reward for her help, Clay took Lucy for ice cream.

March 20

Isn’t my puppy cute? He was trying to let me know he was ready for his green beans.

Last night Mamaw and Bapaw had all their sons, wives/girlfriend, and grandchildren over for dinner. Both have had the vaccines now. This was the first time we’d been all together since Mother’s Day (we think). We missed Old Mamaw. Hopefully we will get to see her very soon!

We played Cards Against Humanity: Family Edition. It    was fun, slightly inappropriate, but created lots of laughter.

March 19

These two have making an apple pie down to an art, with minimal supervision.

Then I put them in charge of decorating for Easter.

They turned some of the eggs into a family. Then the neighbors came over and played with the egg families for hours. Little girls are funny.

Green pancakes for my leprechauns

Elliott and Lucy also participated in Abbie’s class scavenger hunt.

A rainbow and green deviled eggs for lunch

Elliott, Abbie, and Lucy had fun outside with marshmallow shooters.
