The last few months have been ABSOLUTELY crazy! Between Craig's crazy work schedule, his fishing trip to Canada (more on that later) and the weddings I shot over the last few months, we literally had not had a single day to spend time as a family. So we weren't quite sure what to do with ourselves when Saturday rolled around and we didn't have ANY major plans! We decided we wanted to have a little "getaway" without going too far. Craig had the idea to go up to Park City Mountain Resort. I have never been to a ski resort during the Summer, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but we had SO much fun. Brylee was in heaven!
She got to ride the Alpine Slide twice. She rode down with Craig the first time. She had 15 whole minutes with Daddy ALL TO HERSELF on the lift.
After Craig and Brylee went down the Alpine Slide, we let her ride all of the kid rides that they had. She was so serious about flying that "Peplane" (airplane). She flew all the way to Granny's house! It was nuts.
Cole was too little for any rides, but boy did he have a blast eating rocks and playing with Badger.
More rides with Dad. (Seriously, the best Dad in the world.)

Then, it was my turn to go down the Alpine Slide. I was pretty excited about it until we were on the lift, halfway up the mountain, and the wind picked up. We were just swinging back and forth and I was CLINGING to Brylee. It wasn't that I was scared of her falling, I was just scared. I thought our adventure was over when we got to the top of the mountain...until Brylee started doing the "potty dance". The guy that helped us off of the lift said there was a porta-potty up in the woods.... So we went on a little hike and I swear I saw a Moose eyeballing us! ;)
We eventually made it to the top of the Alpine Slide (about 45 minutes later). On the way down, I started feeling like a daredevil and I pushed the lever on the sled all the way forward. We started picking up speed with all of the turns and drops. We were going so fast as we turned one of the last corners, when I saw it. A little Chipmunk. Stuck in the track. It was almost like it was in slow motion. I saw the poor little guy scrambling, trying to get out. But every time he would get close to the top he would slide right back down. I tried to hit the brake, but it was too late. We stopped right on top of him! It was pretty much the worst experience of my entire life. I didn't know what to do. I couldn't get out out my sled and I knew that someone else was coming up behind me....so I just started going again. I couldn't turn around and look. I am just pretending like the little guy got away (even though I felt something dragging under the sled for the next 20 feet or so). So sad.

I was too busy making sure there wasn't chipmunk guts behind me to even smile for the camera.
After all of the rides, we went to lunch at a cute little Mexican restaurant and ate outside because it was so nice out. We went into the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and picked a piece of chocolate before we left.
We are such busy people lately, that I sometimes forget how lucky I am. Days like Saturday remind me how much I love spending time with my little family. I think we sometimes get so caught up in everything we have to do and we don't stop and take time to soak up the little moments. That is why I love days like this. They help me to remember what is really important.
