To see the BEST in people

Give me the strength to serve You, to please You each and everyday.

It's been challenging seeing the best in people, but I trust that when I try, You'll somehow help me to do it.

Lord, help me to be efficient in doing my work so that I can prepare the lesson plans for Sunday School. It's something dear to my heart, so I really wanna give my best shot.

they looked beyond the flaws

for my dear friends who looked beyond my flaws and stuck out with me despite me being a worry wart, forgetful, irritable, blah blah blah, i just wanna say...

i really love ya babes!

really love hearing how God has been there through the thick and thin in people's lives. E was just sharing how blessed she has been, and i'm totally thankful that that's my Heavenly Father too. too bad A couldn't stay on. we should do that more often, though, at a less costly place :P

side thought: i bought this cutesy necklace, which i thought could brighten up the basics. yay!

really need to be more assertive at the right times to get things going. if not for A yesterday, we would be still around the bush.

say hello to a working weekend, pinksunflowers :P

beautiful scenes

For a lovely sister (P) who is ever-willing to sow her time in prayer, I pray that she'll grow in the Lord through this ordeal.

We spent part of today at SLS, a place with supposed good bargains. I wonder how true that is. Anyway, I got myself an electronic dictionary. Days of arguements with students - BE GONE! :) Let my trusty Concise Oxford English Dictionary do its job! H got himself a new toy at $700++. A photography blog gives a 5/5 for the "value for money" section. Now, that's a plus point for a chap on his first paycheck.

Olympus E450

I'm looking forward to days of outdoor shoots! Yay :D I have to admit my interest in photography was one of the deciding factors to the purchase. It's nice to have someone who's always game to try what you love. (Or it could be an excuse to buy another gadget :P )

Swimming, photography, even shopping! (to a certain extent, of course. and highly dependent on his moods :P strongly advised to feed before embarking on THE activity.)

pray for P

It's scary to have a close one leave you.

Sigh.

I'll think twice before I curse carelessly.

Exclaims: KS is having a sale!

Just gotta exclaim that. Other than that, I haven't been working on my to-do list as I should. Anyway.

Featuring some t-shirts on my mind now :)

With the extreme heat these days, I do very much prefer loose fit tees like these.

Love the graphic featured here. Vintagey!

This is totally kawaii! It reads "I'm your type" :P I love the play of words in my surroundings. Though, it sounds a little desperate though. Not the kind of message I wanna send to guys around me anyway. Still, it's really cute. :D

If you haven't noticed F21's cirque collection, you should! Love the plaits, graphics, boots, hairdo, blah blah blah. Though, I managed to buy a top from uniqlo which has the same feel as F21's collection. You'll see it when you do.

I loooooove dressing up.

At least, I'm normal. *winks*

A Message by George Carlin

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, ' I love you ' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Simon Birch

I'm not going to share what this movie is about - reviews could do the job. I'm going to share how this movie encouraged me.

The section that particularly touched me was how God uses what people think is stupid to make a difference. Simon enjoys counting mississippis; or rather, counting the seconds he could hold his breath under water. While his buddy dismisses a skill like this as pointless, it was this very skill that saved another child's life.

This portion really made me cry buckets. I just couldn't help but be thankful for a God who uses me in every single way. "When I'm weak, then I'm strong."

Lord, help me remember this lesson that You've taught. It's amazing how a movie could touch each and every one in its own special way.

While I aim to do well and crossover, help me to remain focused on the purpose You've planned for me. To be a teacher who touches lives. Help me to see beyond every child's flaw, and focus on the strengths that You've given, however small or difficult it may be to spot.

You are, undoubtly, the greatest Teacher of all times :)

A + KS = MM

here's something that caught my eye when we were at miu miu

this is like the accessorize bag + the KS bag! best of both worlds! :D i like!

yet another pull and bear post

i'm so in love with their stuff :D

baaags for thoughts

and lots and lots of thoughts! h has kindly agreed to sponsor for a bag :D and here are some of the bags that caught my eyes...

goal: to get a bag that matches everything - from tunics, to shorts, to skirts, to jeans. for weekends.

option 1

was at accessorize when i saw this. the material seems alright, but i don't think it feels super durable. it costs about SG$80, i think. design-wise, it's a slight twist to the KS i wanted soooooooooooo badly.

option 2

another item from accessorize. it's made of the same material as my current brown bag. considering the abuse my brown bag suffered, the material has passed my test. as for the design, i like its simplicity and colour. can foresee myself bringing this (and matching this with everything) it costs SG$80++.

option 3

a KS copycat! i really really love this design! the material seems alright, probably made from the same stuff as the first bag. they have it in white too. costs about SG$60.

it's a close fight between option 2 and 3. ARGH! I CAN'T DECIDE! i wonder if it's too greedy of me to buy both of them. and not surprisingly, the cost of two bags does not even exceed SG$150, which can't even buy me half a KS. (i mean, that particular SG$700 one.)

since it's h's money, i'll just pick one of the two.

LPLPLPLP

enough of that. went back to school to get some stuff for adminstrative purposes. won't bore you with the details.

in any case, let's sidetrack. i wouldn't mind dressing my daughter (if i ever have one) in this

look at this - sweet mint blue denim. it's the largest kid's size though. imagine the shock of those queueing outside the changing room when i stepped out of it. it's the kids section by the way.

and all of that found in our friendly hypermarket - giant! if we are alert enough, it's not that tough spotting good buys in unexpected places :) have you ever found a steal in an unexpected place too?

hee.

03 August 2009

supposed to write those LPs but

i have done absolutely nothing.

bah.

anyway i found a picture of my dream shoes.

comfort worth every of its cent at SG$69.00.

presenting muji's

remember the featured shoes from river island with rhinestones? its comfort will never beat these. while they'll never stay snow white for long, but the comfort and style (the creases will smoothen when you wear 'em) is worth it all. in fact, these caught my eye from their previous shipment. but the price factor made me hesitant. after months of hunting for the perfect plimsolls, this is the perfect alternative. way better than canvas! whatever skin they used for this pair of shoes, they are sure comfy indeed.

how i wish my birthday is tomorrow.

/edit 7 august 2009

H bought them for me!!!!!! and they cost $79.00 instead of $69.00. thank you, H! somehow, the creases didn't disappear as much as they did as the display pair. still, it's a beauty. (to me!) we felt pretty certain that it'll prolly take a lot for the soles to fall out. unlike what happened... well, that's another story altogether.

01 August 2009

I'm not looking forward to lesson plans.

Days of backlogging, here I come.

Those days of marking have taken a toil on me, such that I found it impossible to write most of my lesson plans unless I want to sleep at 3 am. Which is a no-no cos' these kids sap my energy like no one's business. I'm so glad that I will most probably not see YYK for the rest of my life (as it's impossible for trainees to take a P6 class :D)

I hope that's the end to debating about answers in class.

Oh yes, I should have written down what I have done in week 5. I've gotta write a week's worth of lesson plans. Better begin before I forget most of them. Especially English.

Why does work not end?

I can't wait to shop.
