Clowning Around

Hope You Have a Fun and Festive Halloween.

P.S. Someone asked if Michael was a real rodeo clown at our ward party. He really looks the part, uh?

Some Festive Cookies

I'm sure many of you know, I'm just not a Halloween person. I don't know why, it just is probably one of my least favorite holidays. With a new baby, it's like the perfect excuse to do absolutely nothing for Halloween.

However, in the spirit of the season, we carved pumpkins and made pumpkin seeds. But we have no pictures. And technically, I didn't really even get mine completely carved. For some bizzare reason our pumpkins rotted out the day after we carved them. :(

Landen and I made cookies the other day. Because that seemed within the relam of possible things I could complete. I made the dough the night before and let Michael eat a good helping of it. Then Landen and I had fun rolling out and decorating the cookies. And since everything is just that much more fun and messy when you're two-- I took some pictures.

Maggie is having her first doctor appointment today, so I'll share some pictures of her and her stats a little later.

My two little ones are getting along great!!  We were a little worried about how Landen was going to adjust to not being the center of my attention, but he has been incredible.  He LOVES Maggie.  He loves to give her kisses and hugs.  He tries to give her high-fives and first pumps. He likes to show her his toys.  The first thing he does when he gets up is come in and check on her.  He gets a stool and climbs up so he can see her in her crib. Everytime she fusses he gets me and then goes to her and asks, "what matter?"   He is a GREAT big brother.

Our little Maggie Kayla is a great baby.  She is very chill and pretty content.  The only time she cries is when you undress her.  And even then she is getting better.  She does fuss when she gets hungry, but it's not much.  She loves to sleep, and I'm a little jealous how much she gets. She has more hair than Landen had at a year old! She gets the hiccups all the time and the best cure is to have Michael sing to her.

Me?  I'm doing fine.  Recovery has been easier in some ways and in some ways harder than with Landen.  I think I need about 4 more hours of sleep than I've been getting.  I need a live-in maid too.  I've survived 3 days with the 2 kids by myself.  The first was the worst, but the other 2 have been great.  I think it might even be fun when I start to feel more like myself!

Michael keeps telling me he is going to try and remember Maggie as a little baby better than he does Landen.  Any habit Landen has over a few weeks, he thinks Landen has had since birth. He loves singing to Maggie and doesn't mind changing her diapers.  If he could feed her, I think he would. He tries to get up with her at night, but she generally just wants to eat.

And since I know Maggie is what you want to see more of, here is another picture.

Here She Is!!

Maggie Busselberg was born at 5:41pm on Thursday, October 14, 2010. She weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Landen is a very happy big brother.  He said, "cute," and "she sleep'" and "Maggie."  We're so proud that's he's excited to be a big brother.
Dad is already wrapped around her finger!

She's a Comin'

Well, Sooner or Later.  I'm hoping for sooner rather than later, but those could be my famous last words.

Country songs about baby girls make me cry.

Anyway, back to my original topic.  Michael and I decided to hold a contest.  I don't know what the prize is, but it just might contain something like this:

Pumpkin Bread
Homemade 'Oreos' With Fall-Color Creams
Homemade Oreos
Or maybe just the satisfaction of knowing that Your Super Cool and You Won.

So here it is.  I asked the doc how big he thought she'd be. He shrugged.  (He also commented that she wasn't going to be coming anytime soon, and I broke down into tears, but that's totally beside the point.)

So, Leave us a comment and tell us how big you think she's going to be.   And then the closest person will get a special blog post and maybe some good eats.

P.S.  If you guess 10lbs or over, I will personally disown you as a friend.
