Caps for Sale

The 4 year olds at Kathryn and Walker's school put on their Spring Play today. It was remake of the book Caps for Sale. Kathryn was a cap peddler. Here she is all smiles after the performance. She did an awesome job!

Telling the monkeys to "Give us back our caps!"

Our little monkey! Walker did a great job too!

And this one...let's just say, she made it through Walker's class' production, but we escorted her down to the nursery for Kathryn's class. There were just not enough lollipops to keep her quiet;)

March

Considering the lack of posts recently, you would think we've been sitting around twiddling our thumbs with nothing fun to document on ye old blog. On the contrary, life has been very full as we've transitioned from winter to spring this month of March (or maybe from spring to summer, considering we didn't have much of a winter and it's already in the 80's)!

Perhaps, the biggest event this month has been some home improvement projects that are underway on the outside of our home. Rotten wood has been replaced with vinyl, new gutters have been put in place, and the biggest news of all, a new tree house/playground is in the works!

This was a view outside our back window yesterday! They had to take down our back fence just to get this monstrosity (a concrete truck) in! Needless to say, the kids (big kids, me and Matt, included) are very excited. We've still got a ways to go, but it's nice to see progress.

As for the kiddos, this has been the month for birthday parties. We have literally had one or more birthdays each week. We've eaten ice cream sundeas and frozen yogurt, bounced at Kangarooz, and went on an awesome Star Wars adventure. Can I just say I love birthday parties! And my kids do too! The creativity just never ceases to amaze me!

Last Friday, we were visited by Aunt Coco, Daniel, Beau and Papa. Kathryn and Walker had their first at home sleepover with Cousin Daniel and surprisingly they behaved quite nicely;)

This weekend, the Tew family will converge on Dauphin Island for a little get together. Thought I would pass along the menu items I'm bringing:

Bow Tie Pasta Salad

Cheese Slaw

Scotcheroos

Which brings me to my last point...our oven also broke this month. So we've been very creative with what we can cook either on the stove top, in the microwave or in a crockpot! That's the main reason, I chose the recipes above. They don't require an oven. Plus they are really yummy. You should try them too!

The Girls

We made a trip to visit our favorite feline today, Sophie (my Mom and Dad's cat). The girls were having so much fun playing with the cat, that they were even willing to let me take a few pictures...

As you can tell, Miss Frances is still very much into Minnie Mouse! And Kathryn was very much into Sophie! Although, Sophie was not that into her!

Off We Go...

...to the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, FL!

Last Saturday, Matt, the kiddos and I loaded up and headed east for a day exploring the National Naval Aviation Museum. This FREE museum came with rave reviews from family and friends, so we have had it on our list of "things to do" for a while now.

While Matt and I could have spent hours looking at the exhibits, the children had a blast playing in the indoor playground. We would play on the playground a while, look at some exhibits, go back to the play area, etc. etc. There were also lots of opportunities throughout the museum for climbing in cockpits, another favorite of our kids. Wish I had better pictures, but I think you can tell the museum was a hit!

If you are ever in the Lower Alabama/Upper Florida region, I highly suggest the National Naval Aviation Museum. It was a perfect fit for the entire family!!!

Across the Bay

While the kids were out of school last week, we ventured over to Fairhope for the day. The first pic is of the kiddos outside the library. Unfortunately, the library didn't open until 1:00 that day, so we opted for the park!

This little one doesn't sit still very long for pictures!

After the park, we headed for the Windmill Market for some lunch at Mary Ann's. We dined on Shirley and Maiben specials (they were just as good as they've ever been!) and then made our way next door to Westside Grocery for some Pretty Perfect Pimento Cheese to take home!

It was a great little get away!
