Pumpkin Pickin'
This year we decided we (I) was not up for trecking around a huge pumpkin patch and doing the corn maze and all, so we just went to a nearby church that sells pumpkins and picked ours out from there this year. Dubby REFUSED to put on his cute shirt and let me fix his hair, but at least he smiled and posed for the camera so I guess of the two that's the more important thing.
Did I mention that he posed?
This one with the partial face ended up coming home with us.
I doubt that Will will care if we had a hayride this year or spent 2 hours trying to find out way out of a corn maze. We all 3 had fun at this small patch where apparently sitting on pumpkins was how we decided who got to come home with us. It's all about the fun you make out of things and this was a fun trip indeed. Will has a Spiderman costume that he is super stoked to wear so pictures of all of the Halloween fun will be coming soon!

Playground
I think I have mentioned that the school I teach at is at the end of our street. Let me tell you, my heat doesn't even kick on between my garage and school parking lot. It's awesome. But I don't know if I've mentioned on the back side of my school is an elementary school, which means we have a great playground just two minutes from our house. The other afternoon we all 3 went there to play and I brought my camera along. The boys started off with some kite-flying.
Then we went to the playground equipment. This is usually a Daddy-Will activity so I got to watch and laugh as the two of them ran around. I swear it was like watching the synchronized playground Olympics. They have a routine and things they do and say at each station. Such fun to witness!
I'm surprised more pictures don't turn out like this:
My FAVORITE part of watching them is when they come down the "bumpy slide." When they get to the bottom they touch fingers. Sometimes they shock each other and sometimes they don't. (Seriously, I'm not sure I'll ever understand boys!) But anyway, look at the 2 different faces- one WITH the static electricity and one WITHOUT.
I am so thankful for these two boys and that they have their own little games and routines. Will is so lucky to have such a fun-loving, caring father who truly loves spending time with him. XOXO

Fall Has Arrived
It seems that life never slows down in the Burris Abode. We have had a great few weeks lately, but our calendar has been full. While the Farmer's Market isn't officially on the calendar, it is something we all 3 look forward to each Saturday morning. It's been brisk so it requires a little bundling lately, but W's monster hat is still around and he looks so darn cute in it!
I hope I never forget the look Will has when he brings me a surprise. He has such PURE joy on his face. He and Dave created a little "fall bouquet" for me and as he handed it to me he exclaimed, "Happy Fall!"
Another fun evening event is going to the museum trail and watching the light show at James Turrell Skyspace. Dave and Will take bikes down there a few nights a week and if I'm up for getting off the sofa I'll head over in the car (bike riding is NOT an option for someone in my condition!) Will seems to have a lot more patience this year to watch the colors change.
We live in the sweetest little neighborhood. It's so 1950's sometimes. Everyone stops to talk and there are various neighborhood activities and parties in which we all get together. Our most recent event was a pumpkin carving and painting party.
Will took the cell phone around and snapped a picture of the pumpkin Dave was carving and my belly.
I am doing my best to slow down. I forget sometimes that I'm eight months pregnant and cannot do everything my head has planned. These little events are all fun family things, though and I would sure hate to miss out on any of the fun!

Missing!!!
I have a missing camera card right now- boo!!! We took a trip to Little Rock and went to the Discovery Museum there. I made a point to bring my "real" camera and not rely on just my cell phone. Well, look where that got me. I know it's around here somewhere, but until I can find it- here are the cell phone museum pics! This was a 2 story exhibit that your stick a scarf in a tube and it shoots around and up and blows out the top. Wish we had one of these- we spent a long time here!

Will Helps
Will us such a great helper right now. He luckily has been very patient with my requests to pick stuff up off the floor so I don't have to bend over! He also helps by carrying stuff, cleaning up toys, or getting something from upstairs on his own. With Dad he loved to help water or work with tools in the garage. I'm hoping the trend continues into the arrival if his sister! The pictures with the stroller are him helping me push some stuff up to my classroom
It was too nice to drive the whole half a block to work so while we may have looked a little hobo it was all with great purpose!

Cousins, Cookies, and Cuteness
We have been able to see two of Will's second cousins in the last few weeks. Penny was here with her grandparents for a Razorback game. We took her and Will to the park for a bit and wouldn't you know that throwing rocks in the creek and playing follow the leader were way more fun than any playground equipment?
Then we also had Jonah come over after I did a fall photo shoot with him.
Earlier this week I saw some Halloween cookie cutters at Wal Mart and became inspired to do some baking with my buddy. Now, I have probably shamed my mother and have been written out of the will for not making her famous sugar cookies and using a pre-made dough... but you know how it is. I felt bad when Will told me "this is a LOT of work!" If only he knew what REAL cookie making involved!
Finally I wanted to share some things I have bought for the baby lately. A girl I know from elementary school makes children's clothing as a side business. Unfortunately, she is closing her official shop and only doing small special orders from here on out. So I snagged several items from her "going out of business" sale.
So that's just a snippit of what's been going on with us lately!
