Too late for Prom?

I just ran across these photos and wanted to share real quick. We were not yet living in the new house on prom weekend, but we went and bar-b-qued with John & Emily and the kids in the driveway. Why, you ask? Well we have a bea-U-tiful park on our street that is gorgeously landscaped and manicured to perfection. It is a hot spot for those required pre-prom pictures. The whole neighborhood camps out in their driveways and watched the hundreds, yes hundreds, of kids come through.
Will and Owen and Brighton (friend from day care) had so much fun watching the "princesses" walk by. Of course, there's nothing like throwing some rocks and listening to the "clang" as they hit the metal dumpster, either.
While we ate we took terms telling silly stories to the kids. Our silliness had them totally engaged.
I know all too soon I will be the mom walking 5 paces behind her son holding on to my camera and Dave's arm. I will silently be wondering where the time has gone and longing for the days when throwing rocks was the big excitement in Will's day. For now I just need to remember to tickle him and hug him like crazy (because he has already outgrown kisses!)

Crafts & Sunshine

I have two cute photos from today I want to share. It is a billion degrees so I went and bought a cheap kiddie pool
from the dollar store. Will totally enjoyed playing in it with his new kick board- even though the two of them barely fit in there together!! I even had time to do a little crafty project with some lawn chairs. I spray painted them gray (they were white) and then I used a stamp and acrylic paint to put a cute little pattern on it. We both totally enjoyed our outside play time today :-)

Enjoying Summer

I have been out of school for about a month now and I am SO enjoying my time off. Here are some recent photos of the summertime fun I've been having with my little buddy.

Father's Day 2012

I tried super hard to post this all day yesterday, but we were on the road and I just couldn't get a connection that was strong enough to get this done, so sorry, Dave! It was all ready to go! I saw my friend Rachel do something similar with her daughter and I thought a video interview of Will was such a sweet Father's Day gift. I thought up some questions I could ask Will about his daddy and turned the camera on! I didn't tell him what we were doing so all answers are completely unrehearsed. Thank you, Dave for being such an unbelievable father! I don't know what I would do without my other half. Will and I love you tremendously! Happy Father's Day.

Where was Will?

So you may have noticed that our NYC trip was adults-only. While the little man was greatly missed, we decided in order to do all of the shows and museums and dinners we wanted to do it was better for him to not go. He stayed for those four days with Dave's parents and they had tons of fun stories. Will got to go on "adventures" (hikes) to check on Earl and Pearl (the squirrels) and watch the crawdads and fish. They rode in the golf cart, went for ice cream, and rode bikes. They sent us a few pictures and while we thought of him all the time, we knew he was having fun with his grandparents. They also worked really hard on his golf game and are pretty sure he's the next child prodigy. Thanks Paul & Glenda for loving on our sweet baby while we were gone!

NYC Day 3 & 4

On day 3 we searched around Times Square for a little bit before settling on a place for breakfast.

One of my favorite sculptures by Umberto Boccioni (we were disappointed that we couldn’t get closer. This room was closed.)

We simply appreciated the Guggenheim from the outside.

After that we cabbed over to Grand Central Station. This was truly one of the biggest highlights for me. I have been to NYC twice but never to Grand Central Station. It was so fun and exciting and there were so many cool little things.

One of the neat things I really wanted to do was find the “whispering gallery.” We felt like goobers going up and talking into the wall but you can hear the person across the way talking, even if they are only whispering. It has to do with the acoustics off the low arches.

I think one of the reasons I loved this stop so much was because of the rich photography history and the opportunity to do take some of my own images! (Thank you, Steven for helping us take some of these!)

Afterwards Dave grabbed a hot dog from a street vendor which he had been dying to do. (After this one he had about 3 more in the next 24 hours!)

We walked and shopped  for a bit and passed the Chrysler building.

After this we met up with my parents and went down to see the Flat Iron building. It was really very cool.

After this busy, busy day we stopped for 15 minutes to sit in Madison Square Park and people watch.

After our little hiatus we got on the subway and headed for dinner in Hell’s Kitchen at a delicious restaurant called Traffic.

The evening didn’t end there! Dave and I took a quick cab over to the High Line. This is an old freight line that used to run above the city but hasn’t run in 30 years. A group got together and decided to make it a great green space. We walked along it and enjoy the stunning evening.

Some local tenant has a great sense of humor. Check out the cardboard cutout  : – )

Another local tenant created an art installation called the “High Line Zoo.

The fun didn’t stop there. Dave and I went to see Danny again at the restaurant he was working at. It was such cute and quaint and swanky all at the same time. I wish I had taken a picture of the place, but all we have is this grainy cell phone pic of Danny and I talking at the bar.

The last morning we split up boys and girls. Mom and I went to the Diamond District and did some super fun and oh-so-girly shopping. Dave and my dad went to Wall Street and to see the Twin Tower Memorial.

A big HUGE thanks to my parents for making this trip happen and getting us all together for such a fun few days. We had so, so much fun and are already talking about what we want to do the next time we go!
