Art + Science

Have I ever mentioned how much I love Pinterest? It is the BEST for finding cool stuff to do with Will. The other day I saw this pin and did it right away. You add food coloring to vinegar and drop it into a pan of baking soda. It fizzed up and fascinated my child. He asked me to refill the tray with baking soda three times!

I was worried about the smell but it wasn’t strong at all. So parents, if you need 30 minutes to do something I highly recommend this activity!!

Poppy's Birthday

We went to Gigi and Poppy’s house to celebrate a big milestone… Poppy’s 70th birthday! He had a great day and was beaming and boasting about the 71 he shot in golf that day.

Will took over candle-blowing duties- although Paul assured us HE made the wish.

Did you say presents?

Hmmm, this looks way more fun than the drill at my house…

3 Years Old

As I was driving some back roads earlier this week I saw this beautiful field of flowers and thought it was so beautiful! I knew we HAD to go back the next day to take some photos!
As I parked there was a pile of tires begging for some photo action, too!
So what I didn't realize from the road was that these flowers were as tall as Will was! I was of course in a long dress and flip flops and hauling my giant camera and he was trying to keep up but we had to stop ever 4 steps to dig something out of his shoe. He followed me for about 20 paces before he wanted me to carry him. So again, in my long dress and flip flops AND carrying my camera I started hauling my 30 pound child as well. It was about this time that I fell-yes fell- and snapped my ankle. For a split second I thought it was broken. I sat there camouflaged in a field of flowers with no cell phone (no pockets in my long dress) and no one knew where I was. I was able to get up after a minute and continue walking but we didn't go much further. Oh the things I do for photos! Someday I want someone to take photos of me while I take photos. You would not believe the climbing, scooting, and balancing involved. Anyway, back to the field. The pain for us both seems to be worth it. I got some great pictures.

Saturday Morning Art

One Saturday morning Dave was out working at the new house and I was looking for something fun to do with Will. I found this idea on Pinterest to make animal tracks with paint and all of the animal toys you have.

Found these

I came across some photos from Will’s birthday weekend I never blogged. The day after the party Will and Uncle Steven decided to put some of his new toys to use and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Steven showed off a few cool tricks he knows with the soccer ball. We were impressed!

Steven always jokes that he’s the cool uncle by default, but I think he’s pretty cool no matter what.

Easter (s)

I hope this post isn’t too boring because it’s a lot of hunting for Easter eggs! It began on Thursday of that week with an egg hunt and lunch at Will’s day care. Dave was able to take some time off to attend this event. Here the class is getting ready to go out.

Dave had to take pictures of the foods Will was eating; stuff he would NEVER touch at home. It’s amazing what they can get him to do there!

What a fun thing for Daddy to go and see!

Sunday morning I quickly hid some eggs as W was waking up (oops! almost dropped the ball on that parent job!)

He was so excited when he ran in!

Will said the eggs sounded like candy!

After that we had some bunny pancakes (good job, Daddy!)

We met Dave’s parents and grandmother after that for a picnic lunch at a local park. Glenda always out does herself on picnics! YUM!

But it wasn’t long before Will got into his basket.

He then discovered some “noc-ulars” which we told him could help him find his eggs that were hidden. He used them The. Whole. Time. It was hilarious.

I had purchased a new toy for Will’s birthday that we had never opened. It’s a rocket that is propelled when you stomp on a launcher. It was so much fun!

Then it suddenly became more fun to shoot at each other instead of into the sky.

The boys played a round of putt putt. (I luckily had the golf clubs in the car but the golf ball was M.I.A. We substituted a tennis ball. It fit in the holes so no one complained.)

Thank you for making Easter so much fun, Paul &Glenda! Hope everyone else had just as wonderful of a day!
